Hi I have a friend who got accepted, however his GPA is 2.20, and the minimum is 2.50. Is he still a candidate or isn't?

If he has been accepted then it's water under the bridge. I believe Disney does not look into GPAs, it's more dependant on the institution. He's probably fine.

GPAs are part of a school's individual requirements. Disney asks schools to verify that students from their school meet the necessary requirements. If the school doesn't say that a student isn't eligible, then they are fine. It is an ongoing confirmation update with the schools though. So just because someone got offered, doesn't mean that they won't be contacted before they actually arrive to tell them that they can't participate due to not meeting requirements.

Ok, I'll check what i can do for him. BTW, I'm going for fall 09, if you're there, hope to meet you. :)

Alright, so does that mean if a school does not have any requirements for participation in the program, Disney will just contact the school to verify that the student is infact enrolled there? Thanks!

I would say they would be eligible if the school does not raise the red flag. The thing is it would be hard to get an internship with a total GPA of that low. They get thousands upon thousands of internship inquires for the top position so a lower GPA might be the deciding factor. It seems Disney has expanded the internship college program to try to fit as many as possible though.

Yes because that is one of Disney's requirements. Basically they ask the schools to verify that the students on the list meet Disney's requirements and also tell the schools that if they have anything additional, that the students need to meet those too.

You have to be in Good Academic Standing with the school, this will vary from school to school. For my school it's 2.0, but for others it might be 2.5 or 3.0. His best bet would be to make a meeting with his advisor and see what they say.

Hi guys I verified and was told it depends on Disney, so my guess is he'll be able to participate after all. I hope so because he might be my roomie. :cool1:

ok this really worries me then...im enrolled at asu and full time there, but i went to the presentation at gcc...anyways....im currently on academic probation due to last semesters failing grades, as of right now i have all bs for this semester...they keep the standing until the end of semester i believe to see if grades improved. im not stuiped i just have trouble with college style teaching...do you think this will stop me from being accepted? i pray no.

Unless your school has some sort of guideline that would prevent you from participating, you should be fine.

As others have posted, it is really up to each person's school to set the parameters for who can and cannot participate in the program. If your school says it's okay, then Disney says it's okay.

I have heard that a lot of schools that have more strict GPA policies will pull a grade report at the end of the semester to see if students have improved their GPAs. If your school seems like they are going to give you trouble, ask them to wait until the end of the semester to see if you're off probation.

Best of luck to you :)
