FYI-Vero Beach Beach Construction

Went over to the resort last night for dinner.

Both entrances to the beach were blocked off. There is a lot of sand dug up and sitting in huge piles and it looks like a lot of new posts in the ground.

The new beach access is somewhere down past the beach houses South of the pool area.

It looks like they are going to rebuild much of the boardwalk. It may be set up a little differently than before but it looks nice.

The resort looked to be pretty full. We are hoping to make it back for Easter Brunch before DD is born.

Thanks for the info, we will be down there the first week of April. Didn't you use to live in E.L. up here in the cold?

Yes, we lived in East Lansing. We occasionally made a trip to Williamston to go to the Dairy Queen.

Is it cold up there?

We really love it down here. We had a good laugh last week. One of the puzzles on Wheel of Fortune was East Lansing, Michigan.

When we were down at VB in January, I asked lots of pointed (but gentle) questions to a couple of CMs about future beach access. DS is wheelchair-bound and one of his fav' things to do is get out on Wabasso Beach there in the fat-tire beach wheelchair, something that has been impossible since the hurricanes. The CMs informed me that they would be doing a lot of pile driving in Feb & Mar to prepare things for rebuilding the boardwalk and wheeled beach access. Apparently there is a fairly short time window when they can do this, as all the heavy lifting has to be done before the turtles start coming back.

Barring another horrendous hurricane season, we should be able to roll DS down to the beach next winter when we come back!

I hope they have most if not all of it done before we are there. It will be OK if they don't, but to see things damaged will be sad. We love love love Vero.

it is freezing up here right now, I am jeolous that you were able to move to Vero. We are actually going to be there the first week of April in a Beach Cottage, we are so excited, and hopefully we will be rooting on the Spartans in the Tournament.
