FYI: More Cuts Coming

On top of that there have been huge price increases in food, according to Josh at EasyWDW Be Our Guest has seen a 28% price increase in entree prices over the last 3 years.

The food prices have skyrocketed. $11.25 for a turkey leg. $10+ hamburgers at cs. We stopped eating at the parks.

I'm the type of guest Disney doesn't like. We go for a few hours and eat before or after.

We're even cutting down on resort stays this year. Next stay is only 2 nights with AP discount.

We're (my family) getting priced out and making adjustments so that we can still visit a park weekly.

I still hold firm in my belief that it'll be a disaster some day that they have alienated and turned off great customers (who love Disney) like yourself.

Using those high-value spaces for a major attraction or two would be very welcome.
For whatever rea$on, Disney has chosen to let them languish, mostly sans purpose.

To be honest if they were just filled with Sum of All Thrills attractions I bet they would be insanely popular. But yes, its prime park real estate that seems to be generally wasted.

And Bronze probably won't be less than the current pricing, just less than the new gold price. I would imagine all prices are going up from current prices. I don't think Bronze is going to be a bargain time.

The model is supposedly based on airlines. And airlines do have sales and pop up great deals... I wonder if Disneys version will include occasional bargain rates? Can you imagine how much chatter would go on in forums with that type of dynamic experiences. Constant updates of price fluctuations. I wish that would happen. It would add a lot more drama to WDW vacation planning.

I cant decide if this would be amazing or a nightmare, haha. I would stress so much about finding the best deal or missing a promo - ask my DH about the time I canceled and rebooked our rental car 3 times in one week because of random promos! :rotfl:But bargain rates could be AMAZING!

I spend a lot of time booking and rebooking my hotel rooms and checking my flights. I just dropped a hotel rate from over three hundred dollars a night in Carlsbad NM to $70.00 with Hilton points. I guess the hotel wasn't filling like they thought. Can you imagine if you checked the Disney ticket prices three weeks out and they hadn't hit their quota, so they dropped admission in half for a few days to fill it up! lol. Travel agents would be needed again to track it all.

Hasn't happened since after 911. I recently came across this I had saved. We stayed at POR over July 4th for $99/night! There were other deals around those years that were $49 at value and $74 at mod!20160114_101839.jpeg

We had some great rates in 2004 and 2005 in late June at Coronado! We got hooked on those deals, the new attractions that were popping up each year, and a more diverse food scene. Because of those trips we brought dozens of friends and family to WDW to play and be with each other. And even though my family's disposable income has increased the past ten years, the increased cost of Disney have outpaced my income gains, and the deep cuts in service and attractions have eliminated WDW as place that we can share with friends and family. For the first time in 12 years, we don't have a big trip planned to Disney. Nothing in 2016 or 2017. It is so strange how sad this makes me.

The reality is that "Innoventions" has never panned out (as a concept or reality.)

The days when a corporation has to (or wants to) display its GEE WIZ pending "big ideas" in a theme park are long gone.

If the idea is "big enough," the corporation doesn't want to tip its hand to the competition, and the announcement/roll-out of "the product" can be handled much more efficiently (and at less cost) via the web and broadcast.

What "coming things" are we chomping to see...
A larger iPhone and a smaller iPad, or a larger iPad and a smaller iPhone? GEE WHIZ!

Back in the early days of Epcot, these buildings (called "Communicore") did feature some (at that time) GEE WHIZ concepts.
But, we finally got (in everyday life) "instant portable communication" and "picture phones"
and we now know that "flying cars" just ain't gonna happen.
I knew the concept was dead when they proudly displayed a clean Waste Management garbage truck.

Yeah I think that wins the prize for "worst attraction ever". We tried it once, it was awful

It appears the tiered pricing applies only to one day tickets, which are the worst value already. Will this change have any noticeable effect on crowds? How many people buy one day tickets compared to others types of tickets?

Multi-day tickets also increased.

Not answering for PP, but for me... every now and then, I can't help myself, apparently... ;)

I do my share of that as well. But I don't then complain about what I opened being exactly what the title said it would be.

And sometimes, if you don't take the time to check it out, you miss out in true gems like the "eating farts" thread :rolleyes1

Yup.
And, these new tickets will expire at the end of the calendar year.
(But, you will be able to apply what you originally paid for the "expired" ticket to the
price of buying a new ticket.)

Think this may be a prelude to tiering over all, or will they leave this mess for one-day tickets only? Cause I gotta say, I thing the idea is stupid overall. Don't we already get overchaarged for the hotel ... I don't want to be grossly overcharged for the tickets too.

Now I'm off to research the digital ticket book rumor. Wish me luck!

The Seasonal element of the new ticket prices seems to be getting a lot of attention, the fact that ticket prices have gone up in general seems to be getting swept under the rug a bit. I wonder if this was part of the strategy ?

Ticket prices have gone up in general yearly for decades.

I don't really see them needing a special diversion this year.
