FYI: More Cuts Coming

Nope. Body Wars (in Epcot's Wonders of Life pavilion) was a similar attraction,
but it was based on the same ride simulator vehicles used at Star Tours.
The Body Wars film starred Tim Matheson and Elisabeth Shue.

:o yes that's right, thank you! I missed the part in the end where the cars were mentioned. And I actually liked Body Wars better than Star Tours at the time!

"Inner Space" was sponsored by the Monsanto (Chemical) Company and it was one of the very few FREE rides (no ticket needed) at Disneyland, so many guests (me, included) lined up to ride it again and again at no charge. FUN!!

Oh boy, I suppose its a good thing Monsanto is not still sponsoring a Disney ride. Imagine the thread here on the Dis!!

Actually:

You left that part out. It's pretty clear what "used to be" referenced here. Quoting out of the full context isn't always fair.
Nope. Poor reading comprehension. The quote that you cited to says that things are: "better now than when I was a kid". "Better" is a qualitative word and not a quantitative word. When the concept of quantity is introduced, ("WAY more to do"), it is done in a standalone sentence that references "used to be". That includes all periods of time and cannot be limited to "when I was a kid". It can be true (or false) that things were "better when I was a kid" and also be true that there was "WAY more to do 10 years ago". Those are two distinct concepts, both of which can be tested. They could both be true, both be false, or one could be true and the other false. The second is not dependent on the first, and vice versa. In addition, unless one knows the age of the author, (and at what age the author thinks that one stops being a "kid"), one cannot attach any specific period of time to the phrase "when I was a kid". If the statement in question was written by someone who is 30 years old and has been going to WDW for all 30 years, then the time in question is different than if the author is 42 years old and has been going to WDW from the ages of 12-42. In the former example, "better now than when I was a kid" might mean 15 years ago. In the latter example, "better now than when I was a kid" might mean 28 years ago.

I like pie.

Has anyone ever made a Dole Whip Pie?

Ingredients
How to make it
  • Mix the jello with 1/4 cup boiling water.
  • Let cool.
  • Stir into the jello the yogurt and drained pineapple.
  • Fold in one tub of the cool whip.
  • refrigerate this for about 1/2 hour or until slightly set .
  • Place all into the pie crust.
  • Allow to set firmly.
  • Serve with a good dollop of additional cool whip.

They're hoping you'll be so dazzled by the tiering that you won't remember what you paid last year. I mean LOOK at how much less bronze could be than gold! :yay: Just forget what you paid last year........

And how the heck does this compute over a multi day ticket? What if I bought a multi-day ticket with certain days in mind but someone got sick and we wanted to switch days around?

This has the potential to be very interesting.

Yeah, I don't get how this is going to work at all. I guess they could have it all in MDE, and when you move your days around, you get to pay the difference right in your account? I'm sure there will never be refunds LOL

No matter how much of an optimist one wants to be, there is no way that one can credibly make the argument that there is more to do today at Epcot and DHS than there was 5 or 10 years ago. And on April 4, things get even worse.

Honestly, I don't know how this feeds into anyones definition of "WAY more to do now." You will need to come back in five years before you can even try to make that claim. But now?? Today?? This minute?? No way.

Great list, but didn't you forget Sum of all thrills ? (and maybe some more stuff) in innoventions. Now I get that wasn't everyone's bag, but I LOVED it. - Or were you including that in the Test the limits lab ?

Interesting. Now we need a recipe for a Dole Whip turkey leg

Has Sum of all thrills closed? Hadn't heard anything about that. Was still open in December when we went

Well, they did add a DVC lounge to the second floor of the Imagination Pavillion. That is giving something back. :rotfl2:

That was an incredibly detailed response with a lot of valuable information.

Regarding my post, pretty sure I said 30 years ago, not 5-10. That said, of all of the things you listed at Epcot that closed, about the only thing I care about is Maelstrom. As for DHS, a big part of the reason for the those closures is major expansion, no? So, I'm not terribly bothered by those either. I'll miss a couple of those attractions, but then I'll step foot in Toy Story Land and Star Wars Land and be like, "What used to be here again?"

Just my personal take. You can try to bring me down man, but it ain't happening!!! Lol.
Someone may have already mentioned this but keep in mind that those attractions that you don't care about kept others busy. When you decrease offerings those huge crowds have to go somewhere and will just inevitably further crowd what is left.

Well that sounds pretty delicious! But I thought jello didn't set when mixed with pineapple. . . Maybe it's kiwi. . . I'll have to make a homemade dole whip with captain Morgan to sip while I try a new pie recipe!

Edit: looked it up - FRESH pineapple doesn't work, but canned does. The learning opportunities on the DIS know no bounds!

Yes. I have a lifetime of Thanksgivings that prove that Jello and canned crushed pineapple do indeed mix!
