We have been AP holders for many years now and I just though about letting the kids play in the water at DCA.
So I took their swim suits and did not even think about a shirt for my son. The boys need to be wearing a shirt if they are playing in the water.. Also they must have on shoes.
I brought flip flops for the both of them. But did not realize that my DS6 needed a shirt. There are no signs posted. A cast memeber just came in and told off all the kids that they need shoes and the boys needed a shirt on.
DS chose to come out of the puddle park as he did not want to wear a wet
t-shirt all day.

That is funny. I have a whole album page of my 3 year old in nothing but his diaper. (yes, he was one of those late trainers!)

Yes, I have been told this too. Boys have to wear a shirt and all kids have to have shoes. I have been told this multiple times about shoes (my kids were not show wearers when they were little) and once about my sons shirt. I am glad you reminded me, because its been a year and I had forgotten.

I understand about requiring shoes for safety reasons but why do they require the shirts?

Probably just sticking with the old idiom: no shirt, no shoes, no service. If they didn't require shirts for everyone, then there'd be a sexist lawsuit or a Girls Gone Wild feel once a few young women have a few too many margaritas.

Seems like most swim trunks are sold with those "rash guard" (whatever THAT means...what rash are they guarding against?) shirts, so for us it was no problem. I can't even imagine having a shirt-free kid in DLR.

Plus, if the kiddo falls down, you want as much of them protected from bad scrapes, and if a shirt can take some of the damage instead of the skin, it's a good thing. My boy and a similar-aged and sized boy kept banging into each other while playing...but his fun finally ended when a big 10-12 year old boy slammed into him. :(

I always suggest that if you're going to let your child truly play in the water area (see my September pictures) to bring a set of clothes down to underwear and shoes, and bring a towel. No one should have to walk around soaked to their unders...

I think its just a courtasy call. I really dont like to see kids running around in just their underwear. At least a shirt would cover a lot of body parts if the underwear fails.

FYI, The waters in Bugsland has been off during the past week. Im not sure why.

You might want to talk to that chipmunk in your sig about underwear....:rolleyes1

No water in bug's land? Noooooo. Make it start back up by May 26, OK? :goodvibes :flower3:

I was there April 22-26, and we had water to play in. The kids had a blast! We just walked back to the hotel afterwards to change clothes, seeing as how our water stop was not planned. We stripped DD (2 y/o) down to her diaper, and then covered her with a changing table cover till we were out of the park! :rotfl:

Hahah!! This amused me. This is off topic but I had to mention its called a Rash guard because they originally were designed to be worn with wet suits. They are to prevent rubbing. But they are great for keeping off the sun so more and more people are wearing them for some of the best UV protection you can get.

With the record high temps ya'll are having I am surprized to read this...

I too hope they are up and running when we are there in June.

It's a standard policy every where at Disney. It's one of those things of, well my child is only a year older than that little boy... so where do you stop the age limit?? Plus Disney doesn't do background checks on every one in the park, so you don't know who is looking at your kid. It's scary but there are a ton of photos taken by people that shouldn't have a camera.

Shoes are only required if they're walking, who's going to care if they're in a stroller. I was never a shoe wearer either. I feel sorry for little ones that don't have decent shoes on and end up in blisters the entire vacation.

I believe shoes are also required on the rides.

Are shirts for boys required at the hotel pools also?

This makes sense!!

Swimwear is different policy. So swim trunks are ok. But you might want to find a board shirt (one designed for the water) with SPF. Burnt shoulders are no fun.

Shoes are required for all attractions and for character meet and greet locations as well.
