This may be a silly question but I was wondering if it's quicker to get to Epcot but taking the boat to MK and riding the monorail over, or if it's better to just take the bus.

On our last trip, we went to the Magic Kingdom to the TTC on the Monorail and then from the TTC to EPCOT also on the monrail. It was wonderful to ride the monorail. The other time we went, we drove. We decided that the bus was going to take too long. It was relaxing to be on the Monorail. We have to ride it at least once! :)

I think it depends. If your site is close to the outpost depot, or you have a golf cart, then I think it is faster to just take the Epcot bus. But, if you are located by the settlement depot and don't have a golf cart, then you would have to take a bus to the outpost depot and then transfer to an Epcot bus. So, in that case, maybe taking the boat to MK and then monorail over to Epcot might be quicker. We always rent a golf cart (except we just bought one yesterday!!! :cool1: ) so we just drive to whatever depot has the direct transportation.

I would say take the bus - though I do enjoy the boats (I just don't find them that fast).

We do not rent a golf cart and do not bring our car with us to FW so all I can say from 40+ stays at FW since 2002 is that the bus should be faster getting to EPCOT.

Will be at The Fort later this week so I guess I'll have to do some more investigation.

Thanks to all for the wonderful responses! We are renting a golf cart, just because it would drive my husband crazy to have to wait for one bus to take us to another bus. Plus, the kids will like the golf cart. I wish I was leaving today!:hourglass

Just a suggestion. If you're planning on staying until Epcot closes be prepared to wait in a long time to get back to the fort. My DD and I have done this twice and it sucks. First you have to wait in a long line for a FW bus but that bus also goes to Wilderness Lodge first. Of all the buses in the system, the Epcot bus to FW is the worse.

In December we took the bus to Epcot, and it took nearly an hour. Thinking the monorail/boat must be faster, we tried that coming back. Wrong!

We have tried both the boat/monorail and the buses and have finally given up and we drive to Epcot. Since we are usually at the 700 loop, we have to take 2 buses plus you have to stop at Wilderness Lodge. If you take a boat to MK or the Contemporary and catch the monorail, then you have to transfer at the TTC to catch another monorail. So we have finally decided it is much less frustrating (and quicker) to just drive to Epcot. We also always drive to AK.

That is what we decided too. We rode the monorail simply for the fun factor, not for the speed factor.;)

We just got back from our first trip to FW a few weeks ago. We took the boat to MK, but ended up driving our own car to all of the other parks. We were surprised how quick and easy it was, especially after Illuminations or Fantasmic.

I can't remember this so forgive me but do you have to pay to park at the parks if you are staying onsite? We have stayed offsite the last four times we've been so it's been awhile.
TIA,
Janie

No you don't have to pay. Just leave your resort parking pass on the dash, and you will be waved through the booth. Here is another vote for driving too.:moped:

We are flying this trip and won't have a car. So driving is not an option for us. And, since there is 6 of us, I don't think a cab would be a reasonable option. I guess we'll just have to endure the wait. We'll be there for 8 days, so hopefully we will still do and see alot.
