However, we are sorry to learn of your disappointment with the merchandise that is currently available at Disney?s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. Please know when we receive comments from Guests, such as yours, they are shared with various areas of our organization. You may also be assured that your observations have been taken seriously and were shared.

Whenever I see canned responses from WDW (about this subject or any other) I have visions of the file structure on these corporate communications people's computers. They must have miles of file folders, like one for every resort, park, and transportation option and then within those folders they must have tons of documents for every situation. Disgruntled guests, resort merchandise, food problems, injuries, reservation problems, janitorial issues, and the list goes on. When an email comes in, they must open the correct folder, hunt up the correct canned response and then paste it into the reply, adding only your name to make you feel like you got a personal response.

Maybe we should think out of the box and see if we could come up with something they don't have a file for and make them think up an actual response!

Dave, Dave , Dave,,
you know they lie.

cept for the low life camper part,,pretty sure thats how they feel bout us, :thumbsup2

Mine seems to be tweaked just a bit different from the others..I guess they must have a million of them!:thumbsup2

Here is my customized letter from Disney. Until I read kaslac4 I thought she sort of responded to my email. Apparently I received a "pick your response" to this loon email.

I sent mine in:

I have already communicated my disappointment on the guest survey I completed after my December visit, but since this e-mail address was the prescribed method for contact, I will replicate my comments here. I fear that once again Disney has failed to identify the particular needs of the Fort Wilderness guest, and has rather lumped them in with value- and moderate-resort guests. And, following that type of thinking, who wants to wear a tee shirt with a 'hotel' logo on it, unless that 'hotel' has some status associated with it... like the Lodge, or Poly, or GF. That makes sense, for the average vacationer. But campers are not the average vacationer. We are travelers. We invest huge portions of income in our campers, and pay as much (or more) in fuel to get to our destinations as airfare would cost. And wherever we stop, we are communal. We actually get to know our neighbors in the campground. We delight in wearing shirts advertising where we've been as conversation starters. We decorate our campers, inside and out, with travel related merchandise. And for the several dozens of folks I communicate with regularly, Fort Wilderness is our favorite destination. Withdrawing merchandise from the trading posts has left us scrambling for tsotchkes on eBay. I have no doubt that Disney would rather we spend those dollars at Disney rather than eBay! I would beg the powers that be to reconsider this decision. I'd also like to recommend, should the decision be reversed, that you get to know the peculiarities of the Fort Wilderness guest. They are more apt to want stickers for their camper than they are logo'd plush toys. They want license plates, spare tire covers, yard art, flags and signs to decorate their campsite. They want throws, and pillows and towels to decorate their camper's interior. And above all they want these things so that when traveling elsewhere they will have more opportunity to talk to their neighbors about their favorite place to camp, Disney's Fort Wilderness Campground and Resort.

Thank you for your consideration of this matter,

Shan-Man, Your letter was great. I hope you don't mind but I sent a copy of your note and told them in large letters "DITTO". I told them how there is a HUGE market for Fort related merchandise. Hopefully Dis'ers will keep the mail-in going!:thumbsup2

Exactly Shan-man....we want things to decorate our campers and sites. We bought ours last summer and I told wife no stickers all over it. Well we just got our "Save Musket Mickey" sticker in the mail... and this one will be the 'allowed' add on sticker to go on camper.

WOW Shan-man! Well put!

:cool1:

I emailed them in January but it wont hurt to do it again

Shanta,

I, too, have to applaud you for your clarity and brevity (that means short and sweet to you University of Auburn fans). You have struck the nail on the head. I hope they listen to us.

we last went to FW in March 2010. (We live in FL and my family has been going since FW opened)
I had bought a FT W hoodie sweatshirt maybe a year or two ago when we were over there and it turned VERY cold. Basically its brand new as I only had worn it one time before EVERY Ft W employee was like "where did you get that" , "Hold onto it because thats a collectors item now". Guess I can file it with my mint discovery island shirt.
One family member went to the Hilton Head Resort and she was disappointed she could NOT find one item stating it was Hilton Head Disney at their shop, everything said Disney Vacation Club. I live at Vero Beach so I'll have to check our gift shop to see if they discontinued the VB items, as they use to have several unique VB Disney items.
As a local and someone who likes to shop, we ALWAYS buy resort themed merchandise, however we do not buy PARK themed merchandise. Before they shut down the disney store you could buy the exact same shirt $10. cheaper in there because it didn't say "Walt Disney World". I totally understand why people from out of state want the logos but its not important to a lot of Floridians I think.
I guess my 1970s Ft W merchandise went up in value?:confused3
Also, do they realize a lot of the campers have more money than many of the people staying in the deluxe hotels and lets face it a lot of the time those rooms are paid for through business expenses for conventions and such. Meanwhile you have people having their million dollar plus rigs and expensive cars/accessories and paying $90. a nite. Plus, since when did $300+ a night for a cabin become a moderate price. The only thing moderate is the upkeep on the cabins. We sold our RV and primarly stay in the cabins now and every time we stay in one we have to call engineering to fix problems. Last time no batteries and a major non working outlet. Plus they REALLY decreased the number of towels they left in the cabin.

Exactly Shan-man....we want things to decorate our campers and sites. We bought ours last summer and I told wife no stickers all over it. Well we just got our "Save Musket Mickey" sticker in the mail... and this one will be the 'allowed' add on sticker to go on camper.

Apparently I missed something ?? Where can I get a Save Musket Mickey sticker? and for Shanta Claus LOVED the letter.

Below is my letter & generated email response too : Maybe we need to think outside of the box here, everyone print out their letters and responses and Snail Mail them all together to President of WDW....& we could do like they did with the postal letters to Santa Claus in the Miracle on 34th St movie ...maybe worth a try?

And while we were there we shopped at Pioneer Hall and the cashier there was giving out business cards with the info so that we could write a letter to Disney about this issue. I thought it was nice that she was passing them out and informing guests who may not normally be aware of this.
