Alas, it seems we won't be doing much towing any more (at least long distance) it's just too much for my husband and I don't feel safe towing through the mountains. So...we've booked the cabins this time around. My question is what type of equipment is in the kitchens? I'm used to everything just being in our trailer and not worrying about packing anything. Do they have dishes? Dish towels, dish cloths, bath towels, does the oven work well? Is there a microwave? Do they have a fireplace? I'm really not sure what I need to pack. I know I need all my food, but that's a given, just not sure about the equipment I need to pack.

Thanks in advance. This is a big lifestyle change and I already miss my camper.

They have everything but the fireplace. You can go to the movie and campfire program to get your s'more fix! Someone mentioned bring your own salt and pepper. I did and was glad to have heeded the advice. Mircro works great, didn't try the oven but it was clean, full sized fridge/freezer, ice maker, towels, dishwasher. They have all you need.

Here's hoping you adjust to the new lifestyle quickly and painlessly. (FW cabins will help w/ the painlessly. They're great!)

Thanks for the info. That really helps on my packing list. Helps with packing the truck also!

Hope this helps--it is from a web site I found when I was planning. Note there is NO cookie sheet. The very best thing about the kitchen in the cabins--Mousekeeping cleans it up!! We really enjoyed having the kitchen and fixing a few meals here and there. Hope you have a great trip and I know you will just love the Cabins!

This is really great. I printed it to share with my daughter so we can plan our meals. Thanks again for everyone's help.

I often post about salt and pepper, coffee filters, cups for the bathroom, and cookie sheet.

I've cooked a Christmas dinner in the cabins and got great mileage out of the Glad ovenware plastics that need to be supported with the cookie sheet. I also like to get some Pillsbury cookies and bake those as needed while we're staying--it's a nice homey touch.

I am jealous of all of you who are visiting the cabins soon.

Have great trips!

I just made reservations for a cabin the last of May. We have camped at FW many times but never stayed in a cabin. Do they have two TVs? Cable? Are they really crowded? I will be staying with my mom and sister (18), brother (15), and nephews (13 and 9). We won't be spending an enormous amount of time at the cabin. I would love to hear from anyone who has stayed in the cabins! This is new territory for me!

There is only 1 tv set in the living room. You will have to double up for the full size bed in the bedroom, and the Murphy bed in the living room. The kitchen helps a lot, but it does get full. If you're worried about bathroom space, request the 2100 loop as it backs up to the 1100 loop and comfort station.

I have looked at several pictures of the bathroom in the cabins but I am unable to see if there is a bathtub with a shower or if it is just a shower. Can some one please help. I have also seen a interior picture of a cabin with a second tv in the bedroom. Has any one stayed lately that has seen a second tv?

It is a full size tub/shower. When the cabins were new there were 2 tvs. I assume as tvs broke they just didn't replace the second and then at some point people must have started to complain that some cabins had 2 and some didn't and the 2nd tv was removed from all cabins.

When I told my family that we were going to stay in a cabin and told them about all the stuff in the cabins and how we would have mousekeeping, they wanted to know why we need mousekeeping. So here's my question: Exactly what do they do? Would we need to load the dishwasher and run it or will they? I don't know if I can leave my dirty dishes in the sink for someone else to do! I tend to make quite a mess in the kitchen!

We were there 11/29 - 12/6/03. There was one TV in the living room, none in the bedroom.

Mousekeeping makes the beds, cleans the bathroom and will load and run the dishwasher. They bring fresh towels for both the bathroom and kitchen. I imagine they would also run a vacuum if there was a need.

As for the tub, it is a full sized tub and I loved the water pressure!

You will love the cabins. We will be there next Saturday, this is our 14th trip there. We always stay at the cabins because of the extra room.

tci1212 - we'll be arriving next Saturday too! It's our first visit to FW. See you there!

Disneymom5 Don't forget to take the little ones to the petting zoo.
Sometimes this is overlooked because there is so much other things to do. When my children were younger they loved this. They are now 12 and 14 so we don't go to it anymore. They have pony rides too. I think they are around 3.00 a ride. See you there!:sunny:

This has been a really helpful thread as I have again changed my mind where to stay! Are there cabins within walking distance to Pioneer Hall? Or can you rent the cart and park near the marina/bus stop near Pioneer Hall? I'm trying to make transitions as easy as possible for DS.

The cabins are on the opposite end of the campground from Pioneer hall and the marina. You can rent a golf cart and drive it up to that area and park it. They are a lot of fun!

Thanks for the info. I'm sure if we stay at FW we are definately getting a cart.

We stayed in the cabins last july/august and are staying again this july. we loved them...they were not crowed with 6 of us in the place. the golf carts are pretty expensive, so we just took the bus to the outpost and the settlement. it was fine, this year we are driving so i will have my car and be able to drive to downtown and some of the other places...food shopping for one. can't wait to get there...::MinnieMo

scm200:Welcome to the Dis!! I know what you mean about the cabins--they're great, aren't they!!
