We have 2 cabins reserved for our Magical Gatherings trip.
What essentials should I bring with me that do not come with the cabin?
Soaps? Papertowels? Coffee filters?
I'd rather bring some stuff than buy it at the Trading Post.

Well I am not sure i can help you with this since I haven't stayed at the cabins before but I have seen mentioned that you need to supply your own salt and pepper and I think I read they only give you a very limited amount of coffee and filters to get you started but you may want to bring your own. From what I read in planning my first cabin stay in May that the coffee makers are standard size filters. Sorry I couldn't help you more.

I love FW but have never been able to make a good cup of coffee at the Cabins. Any advice would be appreciated. I think it is the Florida water and have considered buying some bottled water.

Check out Jeffs sight for what to bring. We sent our stuff via UPS and just had to
stop at the store to pick up milk. In fact we sent all of our luggage
via ups and only traveled with a carry on.

Just my $.02, but I AlwaYS buy bottled water while in FL. I'm sure the water is the culprit behind the bad coffee. (Although I wouldn't know, I've never had a cup of coffee in my life.)

The site mentioned above will tell you all you need to know. If I may suggest, any cabin decorations would add to the fun. Both indoor and out! There is an outdoor electric plug on the deck for deck lights, a name sign for your DIS name, etc. "Too many decorations" is not possible at FW!

Enjoy!

I remember from our trip years ago, making a terrible cup of coffee in the morning just to get me started, then taking the golf cart over to the general store for a proper cup.
I guess thats still the way. :)
No complaints though.
One of my favorite times of the day.
Me..my golf cart..eary morning...my coffee...CANT WAIT!

My family and I are renting a golf cart for our next trip to FW (2/22/04-2/27/04). I will take your advice and go down to the General Store and get a cup of java instead of making coffee with swamp water. Sounds like a plan! I wonder what the rest of Florida does? :teeth:

We take bottled water from home no matter where we go or stay. Just prefer to use water I know came from my house. We save the one gallon jugs that juice comes in (they are really sturdy), fill them up and we're ready to go. We like to take one gallon a day for two people (we drink a lot of water). Guess it comes from the camping days when you're never sure about drinking strange water.

Be sure to bring salt and pepper, cups for bathroom, coffee and filters. If you use Glad ovenware, bring a cookie sheet. On my birthday trip at the beginning of Feb, I even managed to make terrible coffee at POR. Next am, I filtered the water through my Brita filter, and it was much improved!

I wonder what the rest of Florida does?

Florida water is very hard. We are used to it now but to get a good cup of coffee we need to us bottled water or use much more coffee.

I really think good tasting water is what you are used to. We used to live in Memphis (never would have guessed that would you) which has wonderful water. However, after living in Florida now for 19 years it taste funny to me when we go back to visit.
