Oh that is so sad! Sweet, but sad. :sad1:

That is so sweet and sad! :sad1: They say animals can sense things humans can't. Thanks for sharing.

I saw that the other day. I think it's an incredible story.

This morning, I was getting ready to take Chloe to the vet and I was absolutely dreading it. She knew it too. She was hiding under the knee space of my bathroom vanity, which she only does when she's scared. I fully believe she sensed my anxiety, even though I was being super-careful to act the same.

Animals are so smart.

Aww, that's super sweet... animals are amazing.
Now I'm thinking of my kitty who died of kidney failure last december

And I'm thinking of my kitty, Chessie, who died two years ago of kidney failure.

You should meet Brutus, he might change your opinion.

That's a sweet picture, and I'm a firm believer that animals are very instinctually and intuitively sensitive. I know when I was pregnant, our one dog Cookie (a 3 lb. Chihuahua) would lie on my stomach and growl at anyone who tried to come near me.

Mine did, too! She was also a Chihuahua and became the Antichrist (toward everyone but me) the entire time I was pregnant. After the baby was born she'd wedge herself in the chair beside me and lick the baby's toes while I fed her. Yes, animals are truly amazing. Sometimes I wish man was a bit more like them. ;)

When I was a tiny little baby my Grandmother's little dog would stand guard over me and if anyone, besides my mom, came near me he would growl at them.

Also one time when I was at my friends house I was talking to my friends mom and she told me that one time when my friend was a baby that their dog was barking like crazy. I can't remember everything she said, but basically when the mother got up see was able to see that her baby was choking and the baby could have died if not for that dog barking. The dog was not in the same room as the baby, the dog could not see the baby, but somehow the dog sensed that something was not right.

I absolutely believe in the "6th sense" that is supposed to be inherently strong in animals. They may not all be rocket scientists (my shepherd would be an example), but she knows immediately when people don't like her or are afraid of her. Her entire character changes. I believe animals know and understand much more than we humans give them credit for.

My mom's dog knew when she was dying and never left her side. Tons of documented stories on this one.

I loved  the picture. Thank you so much for sharing it. Truly beautiful, touching and very sad  !

very sad and sweet.

Here's my sad animal story. My parents had a dog- an apricot toy poodle a year before I was born. He was my best friend. He slept next to me, we ran around the backyard together- everything. When I had problems with friends, or with boys or anything, I just cuddled Muffin and he'd make me feel better. It was like he had a sixth sense because he always knew when one of us was sad or hurt and just stayed near us.

Our little backyard had only one tree- an apple tree. Someone gave it as a gift to my mother when her mother passed away and even though it was a dwarf apple tree, it grew over 15 feet tall! My dog, Muffin, loved that tree. Well, when I was 15, my Muffin passed away. He is buried just a few feet away from that apple tree.

Even though it's been 11 years, I still miss my puppy. Earlier this year, that apple tree needed to be chopped down. I was really upset because it is a living memory of my grandmother and my Muffin. Well, it had to go because it was starting to take up the neighbor's yard no matter how sad we were. Well, one day early this summer, we saw something strange. Right between the old stump and my Muffin's grave is a baby apple tree just growing all by itself out of a root of the old tree. Somehow it's like a sign that the people and animals we love are never really far away from us even after they pass away.

ITA!!! Especially men. ;) ::yes::

Our dogs always seem to know when I feel bad or am having a bad day. And always try to take care of me and snuggle and act extra sweet. And lick any cuts or scatches I get. I'd be lost w/ out 'em.
