Me too, though some are a little off. I mean, rotary phones weren't common when I was a kid, but they did still exist, and I had ocassion to use them. I also never technically used a waterbed, but they were around - my dad had one for a while. There is still the ocassional reason to write a check, though that is becomming less necessary with things like Venmo.

May be hard to believe but I go back to even before rotary phones. I recall just picking up and an operator would come on and say number please. You'd tell her and she connected you. Sometimes it took a little while but the system was really just local towns and/or cities. If you wanted to make a long distance call you had to ask specifically for it also whether or not you were going to pay or if the party on the other end was going to pay for it.

It was handy, also you could call you parents collect and when they answered the phone the operator would say, will you accept a call from (then they would have you say your name). They would refuse to accept it, but knew that it was a signal for them to come pick you up, mostly from the movies. I was really young back then and never asked how that system worked, how people were charged for each call and so on. It seemed to work pretty well though.
