Funniest comments you've overheard in WDW

I survived in that cold for 35 years... now I've smartened up!!! 2 years here, and I am well adjusted to the heat!

Now back to the funnies...

Can't think of any really good ones, but when we were at MK 2 weeks ago, Chip came to our dinner table, and DS8 says, "Hi Chip, I'm NUTS!!"

I have to laugh at the people from up north talking about keeping cool and staying hydrated at WDW. You're just walking around! I played football, baseball, and soccer in worse heat.

I know it's not really a laughing matter, they obviously aren't used to the heat and are more susceptible to heat related illness. I just get a chuckle watching people walking around with those spray bottle fans and looking like they just finished running a marathon. Meanwhile I'm walking around barely breaking a sweat and telling my friend, "you know it's pretty nice out today."

LOL! I think the same thing. I always wondered at all the various parks in FL about who would actually pay $12+ for one of those little spray bottle/fan things - then I found DIS and discovered they were actually popular. It's about 78 degrees outside now, and I was just commenting to DH on how cool it was tonight!

My grandmother lives in Tampa, and you're reminding me of years of us visiting her in "winter" when it was blizzarding here, and we'd get there and it was high 60's or low 70's. We'd all be in shorts, wanting to go swimming and thinking it was awesome, and she'd keep saying, "Don't you want a sweater, dear?" and telling my mother it was going to kill us. And we always loved her bringing out her gigantic parka to visit us on spring break.

Here are my couple of funnies to contribute after enjoying all of these:

1. Shortly after Star Wars Episode I came out, I was watching the Stars and Motor Cars parade at MGM. The Star Wars car with Luke and Leia came by and I heard a mother telling her kids to look - there's Queen Amidala and Han Solo. I walked away chuckling and trying to remember that not everyone is both a Disney and Star Wars geek.

2. Before there was fastpass we were waiting in a 90 minute line for Splash Mt., and the dad behind us, who had on one of those Goofy hats with the ears and was sweating horribly in the 95 degree July heat, was reading to his kids from his guidebook about the ride and had obviously never heard of Song of the South and the characters b/c every time he mentioned a "brer" character it came out sounding like "beara." My dad and I still laugh about the sweaty guy with the goofy hat who couldn't get the pronunciation right after many tries.

This is Disney related; though not actually at WDW. While out on the lake fishing this past weekend, my dd3 points & screams "there's Epcot". She was pointing at a water tower...heehee.

How funny! I heard something very similar when we were there in May! I was waiting outside the restrooms in Africa for the rest of our group when I overheard a group of people talking about how worn down both Africa and Asia looked! One woman was complaining about how terrible the ground was - all uneven, dirty, cracks, etc. and said "you'd think Disney could keep this place up - they don't seem to think AK is as important as the Magic Kingdom - the roads there look great!" Another woman in the group replied "I think this was a big parking lot or something before they built the park. They must have just left the parking lot and built this on top of it to save money."

I'm with you - I thought Disney did an amazing job of making it look authentic, and loved the close attention to detail!!

That is too funny.....they probably couldn't wait to get out of HM with it being so dusty and couldn't get out of SE fast enough as to not get caught in the fire that they could smell burning!!!

Two things that really get to me

1) "I paid a lot of money for you to come here and have fun..."

2) When people complain about the long lines. All I remember from when I was a kid was at least a 2 hour wait for EVERY ride

Hi All,
I don't post very often but am a regular reader of these boards and had to share this rather long-winded bit of my day with you.
This is a snip-it from an interesting conversation with a co-worker today. She is going on a trip to the world in July with her family and her daughter will be playing in a national softball tournement at the sports complex. I have an overhead view of the EPCOT resorts area as my background on my computer and I made a comment about her being there in a few weeks. She asked where it was and I pointed out the various resorts and the visable EPCOT pavillions. Spaceship Earth is clearly visable in this photo. I was then asked wher Disney World was, knowing that many people refer to the MK as DW I showed her what direction MK would be. The response was I thought that EPCOT was part of the MK. I politely told her that there are 4 seperate parks and I was informed that they had park hoppers and couldn't wait to visit AK and IOA. I asked if she was aware that IOA and USF were not part of WDW and were several miles away. She said that she was sure that the park hoppers were good at all of the parks including IOA. I know that they are staying offsite so I am not sure what tickets that they really have but I would not be to shocked if they get a surprise when traveling to at least one of the parks that they intend to visit. I was also told that $75.00 per day is being budgetted per day for everything including food for 3 people. Some of you more thrifty DISers may be able to manage that but ther is no way I could cause' this boy likes to eat. I have told her a bunch of times to get a guide book any guidebook and have even offered one of mine although they are a few years old they would help alot.

It has amazed me when I have read things like this on this board in the past and now I have experienced it for my self. Why do people go on any trip unprepared let alone one with the expense of a Disney vacation.

I'm glad this post kept going, I've spent a good portion of today laughing my butt off!!! I have a few funnies to share

We took a big family trip (13 people in all) a few years ago and that all ways lead to funny things happening within the group
The first is my DNephew who was 9 or 10 at the time. We got to MGM and he was so excited all he could do was jump up and down and chant over and over "I'm missing Tower of Terror". I finally interrupted and said, "We're in line for RNR" He paused for a second and then "oh, okay" --I don't know, maybe you had to be there.

The second was my DNiece who was 16. Being the normal 16 year old, she acts tough and invincible--nothing can phase her. Well the whole family rode dinosaur (2 sat out) and we had a whole car to ourselves. At the end of the ride, we get the picture, and here she is cowering down in her seat with her sweatshirt up over her head. She didn't live that one down for the rest of the trip. (and of course, we have the picture to always remind her).

The next two are stories related to me about Space Mountain.
--My DH went with his family to WDW when he was a child and he wanted to go on SpaceM, his mom really didn't want to go, but being a good sport she went on. DH says that his mom chanted through the whole ride--Walt Disney wouldn't hurt me, Walt Disney wouldn't hurt me. To this day, I can't ride SM without saying this.

The other is my own experience as a child of 3 or 4 or so. (as relayed to me by my mom). I rode with my mom and screamed the whole time. When we got done with the ride my mom asked me why I was screaming. I replied "Because everyone else was". For years all I could remember about Space mountain was the red tunnel.

ROTFLOL! Had to laugh because on our recent trip DS decided to try Star Tours & BTMRR. We didn't have a long wait for either one but there was enough time for him to quiz me on what was going to happen. He just stared me down & asked if we would really be ok. I told him to look at the people in front of us & remember the long standby line that we had passed with the FPs. I promised him that WDW was going to make sure that we were safe because there were still alot of people waiting to get on the ride & they needed us to get out of there.

not AT wdw but about it.I was talking with a co-worker(and very good friend) about our(me and DH) next trip.I was offering to get a larger room or suite off site so he and his partner could join us.i said"all ya hafta worry about are your tix,etc....I will pay for the room.And we can split th gas if we ride in the same car"...well..he went a few years back and just did not get the MAGIC i guess.so he did not wanna go. a few mintues later another co-worker(an older woman) had overheard us and said"I think that was nice of her.You should go,,you might like ANIMAL PLANET and MAGICAL STUDIOS....",,hhahaha,,,,poor lady.it was cute coming for her,,she is REALLY SUPER FLAKY and the stereotypical grumpy old lady.

I am not sure if this is as funny as it was annoying for us. We were at the GF pool slide and were waiting for our turn down. My sister and dad were with me. This one boy comes up to the CM at the top of the slide and says something about going down backwards or something like that. The CM says "But that ain't right." the boy says "But that ain't wrong either." CM- "but it just ain't right." Boy-"But it just ain't wrong." CM-"It ain't right, but it ain't wrong." Boy-"It ain't right, but it just ain't wrong." This went on for a couple more minutes. Okay, at that point I felt like pushing the boy down the slide whether he went down backwards or sidewards or whatever. My dad and sister repeat what they said often, like when we have any doubt whether whatever we're doing is good or bad, "It ain't right, but it ain't wrong"! It made me laugh. Maybe you had to be there.

My favorite comes from something my mom said to be many, many, years ago. I was about 5 or 6 years old and we went on a trip to Disney with some family friends. I was scard to death of roller coasters back then, but of course my mother made me ride everything with her. First it was Space Mountain, of course being in the dark I was scared to death. Then we go and ride Thunder Mountain. Again, scared to death of the ride. After we got off the ride, I look up at my mom and ask her- "Are there any more mountains we have to ride?" Her reply-"Just one more-Death Mountain". I'm not for sure of my reaction, but I knowing me, I probably starting crying. After returning last year for my honeymoon, it's been about 20 years, I just have to laugh at myself of how non-scary those rides actually are.

Several years ago (pre-DS) DH and I were in line for Space Mountain. There were three British folks ahead of us, two men and one of their sons. After a few minutes, someone had obviously...umm...passed gas. The father (I assume) said to the son (with a British accent, of course), "Did you fart?" "What?", said the son. "Did you fart?" said the father~"Someone laid a fart!" The son replied~"No... but I could!"

DH and I just cracked up over that!!!

To this day, I chuckle at this one: I was in line for IASW, and there was a young couple in back of me. Obviously the young man had never been on IASW, but the girl had. "So will I like this?" the man asked. Her answer? "Well, remember this-I love this and I love you very much!" Guess he knew he'd better like it!

My own family generated a few laughs at Epcot this weekend:

1. DH and I sampled the wine flights in the Germany and Italy pavillions, and the CM's poured us one sample at a time and described each one to us as we were tasting it, spending a lot of time with us. In the France pavillion, we decided to do the same thing, but this time the CM just poured all the glasses at once, handed them to us, and walked away without a word. DH said "Well, that's the French for you" which caused a few snickers from the people around us.

2. At Turtle Talk with Crush, my 3 year old DS was sitting in the first row. He is the child that Crush first picked to interact with, but my child who normally is talking non-stop was rendered speechless. Crush moved on, and then later in the show asked if anyone had any questions. DS raised his hand, and was called on. For at least a whole minute, all he said was "Um, um, um, um, um........." Finally, Crush asked him his name, to which he replied "Um, um, um, um...Aiden!" Then Crush asked him what his favorite food was, again "Um, um, um, um.....cereal!" The rest of the day, whenever we asked DS anything, he would start laughing and say "Um, um, um, um......"
