Yeah, (FYI: I'm a she) I've noticed on many posts by other people that instead of saying that someone is playing Chip, ect... people say someone is "friends" with Chip - since as far as Disney is concerned - Chip is real, right? ;) How could someone dress up as Chip or play Chip if Chip is real?

Oh, heavens no. CMs who are "friends" with a character work to help bring that character to life. However... and this is vitally important... We do not have cast members "dress up" as our characters. Those ARE the very same characters you've seen and loved in Disney's feature films.

I was waiting on my DH this past December to come out of the restroom and I am a native Floridian. There was a family I am assuming from the north having a snack next to me.

They were smacking their legs. The bugs were Love Bugs mind you. (They don't bite) During the Love Bug killing spree ( Iguess they thought they bite) the dad states that Love Bugs are only found in Florida. The little girl looked up and asked "do the Love Bugs kiss eachother". It was so cute.

Not a comment but the entire day I saw "out of towners" smacking the killer Love Bugs! LOL

To get back on topic, this reminds me of something that happened to me last week. I'm standing outside an attraction when I'm approached by three boys; one is about ten, the others are older teens. The ten year old speaks:

Excuse me... are you familiar with the Pirates of the Caribbean ride?

Well, I know more than some about it, but less than others. What can I do for you?

Ok, you know how there are three Jack Sparrows in it?

No. There's only one. He moves around through the town as you do.

...So he's real???

Of course he is. He's certainly not a Figment of Imagination. Figment's in Epcot.

Um... ok. (To brothers) Told you he was real!

(After they leave, to Cast Member standing next to me who's trying hard to keep from laughing: ) So, do you think he meant to ask if Jack was alive?

I would have said, "Um, princess... they're not kissing. They're making new little love bugs. Your parents will explain it when you're older."

Writer-director Kevin Smith was at the MK last October for one of the MNSSHPs and I got to overhear him rather bluntly -- and suprisingly explicitly -- tell his daughter exactly what the "Love Bugs" were doing. Sadly, forum decorum prevents me from repeating his exact words.

I kind of like Hershey pa  2 weeks after I got home from WDW this past July, I spent a week in Hershey. I had to get "It's a small world" out of my head and replace it with..."hersheys chocolate, hershey's cocolate hershey's chocoate world, wherever I go, not matter how far, there'll always be a hershey bar, hershey's chocolate hershey's chocolate, hershey's great american chocolate bar!" This song makes me miss the old chocolate world ride, before they added those dumb singing cows :sad2:

wow this is really off topic...but i must agree about the singing cows.
I work at hershey and no way can WDW and hersheypark can be compared...no way
Love them both...but they are totally different

Not heard in the parks but Disney related:

My husband and I went to Jamestown in Virginia this weekend. In the museum they have a 15 minute movie about Jamestown, the settlers and native inhabitants. For those of you unfamiliar with American history the story of Jamestown includes the historical figures of John Smith and Pochahontas.

Later in the day I saw a woman coming out of the theater. She turned to her husband and children and said, "Wow, that Disney movie was really inaccurate!" I just found this really funny. Hmm, a cartoon that did not depict a completely factual interpretation of history! Really! The museum film had conspicuously left out the talking tree, singing and animal companions.

As funny as that is, it is kind of scary that people actually believe that cartoons that have that kind of stuff is factual. My DS's fourth-grade teacher actually showed Pochontas when they were studying Virginia history, and then they had a discussion about how the film did not depict what actually happened, and how life was so different back then.

DS6 was telling his little sister not to be scared of the characters. He told her not to worry because they are just people dressed up. I looked at him with a shocked look on my face and said, "You mean their not real?" He looked at me and said, "Oh, no mommy, they are real." Like he didn't mean to ruin it for me.

Aww... that's so cute!

This past week I was at the Coronado Springs pool, resting after a long day at the parks, and I heard a Grandfather telling his grandson that they had changed the name of the Haunted Mansion ride after the movie came out. It used to be called the "Haunted House" ride. Then he proceeded to tell him that they also changed Pirates of the Caribbean after the movie came out, it use to be an open air boat ride with very few pirates.

we were on the keys to the kindgom tour and a man walked up to our tour guy and asked what time the 3'oclock parade was at!!! we couldnt stop laughing and he never got what he had said :)

A friend of mine had never been to Disney...or any other theme park for that matter before...and after getting off the tram at the TTC she seriously said, "wow, that was great!"...she thought the parking lot tram was the best ride...we then had to explain to her that it was not a ride and that she hadn't actually even reached the theme park yet...

When on the HM a few years back I was riding in the cart with my dad. In the cart infront was a little girl (about 5-6 yo) with her dad. When the line 'we have 999 guests staying here but we have room for 1 more, any volenteers?' came on the dad shouted 'YESSSS we have one little girls here!!!' Well the girl starts screaming 'NOOOO daddy I don't want to live here!!!' really loudly.

So as we were getting off, the dad and little girl join the mum and son (about 8-9 yo) from the cart infront of them and all walked together to the exit. The boy was teasing his sister about how scared she was and generally being mean (like most brothers are). The little girl then stopped dead in her tracks (we we're right behind them) and said 'Daddy, I think I will sign up to live in the scary house, anythings better than living with him!!'

I thought it was hysterical

:lmao: I can relate! My DSis and I had a rough go for a few years way back. I love HM and would've gladly moved in. :surfweb:

Duh! Obviously he has NO idea what he's talking about!

That reminds of the time when I was at work at my Disney Store and this father said to his son while they were walking out, "Walt Disney created all of this and he's frozen now".

I nearly died laughing...:rotfl:

Actually... it was once known simply as the "Haunted House".

According to Doombuggies.com:

Once the Haunted Mansion's exterior facade was built at Disneyland to prepare the park's guests for the attraction yet to come, it stood unoccupied for most of the decade. As the effects and storyline were continuing in development, the title "Haunted Mansion" hadn't yet been finalized. As a result, there are a few remnants of that era, such as this puzzle (pictured, below) which portrays Mickey Mouse and Goofy within a fully-developed scene of the attraction before the title was even decided upon. Paul Frees even began recording some trial dialogue tracks as the "Ghost Host" that refer to the attraction as the "Haunted House."

I can personally further confirm this -- I have seen Disneyland park maps from the early 60s that clearly list the future site of the Haunted Mansion as "Haunted House" (and Pirates of the Caribbean as "Wax Museum").

So the guest was right about the name -- but not the circumstances surrounding the change.

Its not a comment, but there was an asian woman about 85 yrs old, and her shirt, in huge letters on the front said EAT S%$T!
