Funky smell on Monorails?

DD12 and I always joke and say that it smells like an elephant's cage, like at the zoo. She always says time to get in the cage.

I can definitely see how it smells like bandaids!!
But I also don't think it's anything close to BO... :confused3 now THAT i would notice.

Something must be wrong with my nose b/c I don't smell anything :confused3

So it's not just my family that's noticed this! For us it definitely smells like horses / farm / zoo. We've always travelled in August (except for once in December), but we've only noticed the smell on our last few trips. As others have said, sometimes it's much worse than others.

Its possible that everyone is smelling the same thing in the monorail and at the Zoo (its my zoo too) and the barn.

Years ago I used to get really bad outer ear infections. I went to the Eye and Ear Hospital Clinic and after they sucked the fungus out my ear (OK TMI), I was given ears drops. The drops smelled just like Band Aids.

Its was the same antiseptic/antifungal that they use in band aids to keep them sterile which could also be used in various other cleaners and maybe animal bedding.

So there's your answer. :thumbsup2

I don't remember the monorails smelling like that in the 80's/early 90's, but by the late 90's they were starting to smell pretty badly.

I think the worst smell ever was the old busses from the 80's/early 90's. They were freezing cold, which was nice in the hot summer, but the smell was horrible!

I remember the smell from as far back as the early 80's. AAAHH!!! The aroma of Disney! I don't really mind it, smells like home (not my home, just some home that's constantly overrun by sweaty people...really, my home doesn't smell like that). Just saying...

Another vote for the band aid smell!:thumbsup2 Glad to know I'm not crazy, as I have always thought that's what it smells like. And I've been in it full, empty, hot, and cold, and the smell is always the same (and also not offensive to me).:)

To me it smells like someone needs to change the cat litter when I get on the monorail. Has smelled like that to since our first trip to the Worild many moons ago.

Since smell/odor can be subjective, I think this makes sense. Then of course, some people just smell things differently -- makes me think of the whole 'asparagus urine' thing -- some people notice a very distinct odor after eating fresh asparagus, others notice nothing at all. Sorry, a little off-topic, LOL, just made me think about how we smell things differently.

I guess I'm one of the weird ones-the smell doesn't bother me at all! In fact, I can't imagine riding the monorail and NOT smelling that; to me they go hand-in-hand!

Sometimes they smell like cat pee to me (and I know 'cause I have four cats that know how to fill up a clean litter box in 30 seconds flat). I figure maybe the feral cats take up residence in them overnight (jk).

:scared1:,:lmao:, that must keep you very busy:crazy::cat:

Absolutely hilarious .... I have a very sensitive nose and its the first thing I commented on when we got on. It smells exactly like my friends' place who have a dairy barn.
