I have a DD9 and for a couple of our big trips I will surprise her with the news. Given her personality, the lack of notice is better, and she gets happy and excited and its just plain fun for us.
The last time I did an early morning treasure hunt ending with her finding the suitcases in the car trunk, with tickets attached and she literally had to get in the car and we left for the airport. I caught it all on video and digital camera.
Can anyone share any surprise ideas that really worked with your kids? I prefer a last minute, perhaps day before, or I'm thinking even a puzzle type thing that is added to each day leading up to our departure. Thanks.
