I specifically booked the Wyndham this trip so we could just walk into DTD for some low-key fun and shopping while not at the parks. What is there to see and do? Low-cost or free stuff is great. Any shops/experiences we shouldn't miss?

You can take a ride in the Characters in Flight (tethered, gas-filled) balloon.
That takes about 15-20 minutes.

There's the Cirque du Soleil-La Nouba show,
but I don't really consider that to be a specific "DTD activity."

Hi

me and my wife love spending our downtime at DTD. here is our list of our usual activities.

1) me and my wife love to pintrade, DTD has a Pin Trading Outpost, full of CM with Lanyards to trade and they also have a hidden pin board, which comes out randomly.

2) In market place they now have a shop which has a sealed bag which i believe are about 11.99 and they have bags for boys and girls and you get a selection of things like small plushes, key rings, pens, toy cars. which are great as a little suprise treat for some kids, (me and my wife are 25, 28 and we love these bags lol)

3) World of Christmas, nothing better than preparing foir christmas and looking through some of the disney themed trimmings for christmas

4) Earl Of Sanndwich, i love this place, tasty decent sandwiches and i think they are fairly priced.

5) Rain Forrest Cafe & T Rex, if you like themeing and want somthing a little different for a restraunt choice, these are amazing for kids, the TRex even has a play area for kids whilst you wait for your table.

6) Disney Quest, for the UK Market we get the Disney Quest as apart of the Ultimate Ticket for Disney, its a 3 floored arcade going from retro arcade cabinet, to motion detection games. fun for a few hours of downtime if your kids are into video games.

those are our fun things to do, the pin trading is fun, if you want to test the water you can get a starter set pretty reasonable which has 4 pins to trade and a lanyard, your kids can then trade with any cast membr for the pins on there lanyard as long as they dont have it already on the lanyard.

Depending on whether you have kids, their ages, and everyone's interests:

Lego store! There's a great area out back where kids can build Lego cars and race them on the ramps. When my boys were younger, they could spend hours there!

Carousel

Water fountains/splash area -- at one end of the market place area.

Ghiaradelli's -- Free samples!

Personally, I could spend hours just between the Christmas store, the toy store, and World of Disney.

There's a silhouette artist there in the marketplace side (or at least it was a couple of years ago). It's our tradition to get a silhouette made of our kids each visit.

I enjoy going to the Art of Disney and just looking at all the paintings and glass work.
