I have a huge love for the monorail at Walt Disney World Resort. I have just gotten gotten back from a vacation there and it was great. We were staying at the Contemporary Resort and we had a day to do whatever we wanted. Some people went to Epcot some went to Magic Kingdom. I t was basically A free for all. So knowing my weird ways I decided to take two loops on the the resort monorail track around seven seas lagoon then i got off and went to Epcot and back to the hotel. I love the monorail so much and it brings back great memories.

Does anyone else have a wierd monorail love?

We've done something similar. We will do a loop on the local track and get off at each resort for some shopping or snacking or perhaps an adult beverage.

We're going for our first trip soon but this sounds awesome! My son might just sit on these all day. We're staying off site and may get dropped off at one of the resorts for lunch. Do they care if we hop on the monorail a day before our ticketed visit?

Glad you enjoyed riding the highway in the sky! Some people love it so much they make a career about it and spend every day there! I've put in a lot of hours and miles in those trains.

Nobody will know or care if you're staying on or offsite or whether you have a valid park ticket or not.

They do not check tickets so you will be fine :) Have a great trip!

Until the late '80s monorail CMs checked resort IDs before guests boarded, which created a nightmare at park closing. In the old days, day guests had to buy monorail tickets! Who remembers?

I heard Kevin talk about this on a show! Sounds really cool.

I will plan breakfast or lunch at monorail resorts on MK days just to make sure I get to ride it. I love the ride out of the resort loop down the road. My biggest disappointment is they never expanded it and they instead brought in busses. My subway conductor this morning made a very long and detailed announcement. It immediately reminded me of being at WDW and the instructions you get there :)
