Fulton's Crab House Opinions

We go to Fulton's every trip. It's DH's favorite. He loves the crab claws.

From our last trip:

I don't like seafood and had the filet mignon. It was really good. Not as good as Shula's though.

Dh had the crab claw/lobster combo and loved it.

We had excellent service. We didn't have to wait for a table this time which worries me. I would hate for it to close.

We thought we'd try it for our anniversary night and afterward wished we hadn't. Yes, the picture is right on. You get some nice seafood, but nothing to speak of with it. Just a few lumps of boiled red potatoes that aren't even cut and seasoned with anything. I was highly disappointed and won't go back there again. :sad2:

I always order the grilled asparagus to go along with my meal... :goodvibes

ETA : HeyIt'sDeb is right on about the sides. The shellfish comes with potatoes. The rest of the menu (like my mahi-mahi) comes with NOTHING. If you want a side of veggies with your fish you have to order it separately.

So lets say DH orders the $44 steak, it's just steak and we have to pay another $5-$7 for a side item? If that's the case it seems less likely we will eat there.

Yes. But it really will be a steak worth $44!!

OK! I'm sold...I'm going back just for that bloody mary, and those claws look so goodpopcorn:: ....I'm not perfect, who am I to hold a grudge just for a "little" bad service:rolleyes1 besides forgiving is good for the soul:lmao: Right?

Fulton's is OK. Nothing spectacular and certainly not as good as some of the lovely restaurants on Sand Lake Rd. Last September we started discovering the Mall of Millenia area which has some nice restaurants like PF Chang and McCormick & Smicks. Parking wasn't easy though.

Don't forget that you CAN order off the menu in the bar area... so if you are just tempted to go for the Bloody Mary and then get hungry... you don't need an ADR... it can get crowded on the weekends, but be persistant and you should be able to get a table...

Good for you, too funny!:rotfl:

This is of course assuming one has a car (we never do), and are interested in eating at restaurants you can eat at back home (there are three PF Changs in a reasonable radius from my house, and McCormick and Schmicks is a chain that started locally, and there are three I can think of around here also).

I would also say that Fulton's is finer dining than either of those two, though the wine list at McCromick's can be quite good.

Most importantly, I can't get those amaaazing claws at either of those places, so for me and it seems most folks who have chimed in who love the claws too, there is no substitute!:thumbsup2

ITA with your post!

I can drive 20 minutes into Boston and dine at P.F.Changs or Mc&S; when in Disney, I want a dining experience that I can't have at home. And, like you said also, I don't think those restaurants are any better than Fulton's.

Absolutely agree. I was not impressed with Mc&S in Chicago or Vegas; I much preferred Fulton's and can't wait to be there again next September.

All down to opinion and where you come from I suppose. To me the service at Fulton's is far from fine dining. I agree it's maybe on par but no better than Changs or M&S. The best service I have had in the Disney area has been at Arthur's (now closed...such a shame) and The Venetian Room but there are some really good restaurants on Sand Lake Rd that you should explore. It's only a short taxi ride from most Disney resorts.

M&S at the Mall of Millennia is actually very good and I'd rank it above Fulton's, which in my opinion, is nothing more than a tourist trap. Personally I'd rather eat where the locals eat.

Also, coming from South Florida we do travel in our own car. Even if we came from further away I'd still hire one. I really don't want to do just Disney and much prefer to see and experience other things.

Coming from New Orleans we have some of the best seafood in the country and I'd put Fulton's up very high on my list. To compare Fulton's to PF Changs is is like comparing apples and oranges, not even comparable.

Please list these restaurants on Sand Lake Rd. that you would recommend. We are more than willing to take a cab for some good eats!!

Yep, Seattlite here and we also get some of the best seafood in the US, and the feshest Alaskan seafood you can get outside of...well...Alaska! And I worked in 4 and 5 star restaurants in Seattle for many years, including a world class crab and seafood house, and Fulton's definitely is up there. We have always gotten incredible servers, and the sommelier was very knowledgable and helpful (though a bit abrupt). I can see that if someone didn't have great service, that could taint the experience. I am sorry if you have run into that.

I have read many reviews from locals who eat at Fulton's regularly, so "tourist trap" seems a bit harsh a dismissal.

Though I admit, as much as I love Fulton's, my TRUE Disney dining love? Napa Rose in the Grand Californian at DLR. Every meal there has been beyond the stars amazing with incredible service. Every server is a trained sommelier, which sure doesn't hurt. :) I miss it. Haven't been back in several years.

Coming from Seattle, it is very expensive for us to come out to Florida, so we don't get to WDW often. So when we do, we have spent all our time on property (and still don't get to do everything we want to do!) Adding the cost of a rental car, plus admission costs to more parks and attractions, just hasn't been a priority. No offense to the restaurants of the region, but I doubt there is any dining off property that would motivate us to invest that much to try and get there. But perhaps for people who already drive there, or who regularly visit WDW and invest in going off property, your suggestions would likely be a very welcome list. So please do post them!

It will probably be a few years before we get back to WDW, but we are already talking about this time trying to go off property for a few days to see IOA and Kennedy Space Center, so perhaps I need to take notes after all. LOL

Over the years we've eaten at:

Mortons, Chatham's, Christini's, Bonefish, Roy's, Seasons 52, The Samba Room, Ruth's Chris, Moonfish, The Melting Pot, and just last time we found a new delight, Jeffrey's.

Lot's of choice here.

I'm from New England - another region known for it's excellent seafood and I still say Fulton's ranks right up there!:thumbsup2

Out of those restaurants you've listed, Morton's, Ruth's Chris, & The Melting Pot are chains and ones I've been to here at home. I don't know about the other ones but those three are not considered seafood restaurants so I wouldn't compare them to Fulton's.

I'm all for finding good restaurants, but for me personally, when we go to WDW, we're all about staying on property and enjoying all that they have to offer. We're DisneyFreaks that way!:goodvibes When I'm looking for seafood in a nice, casual atomosphere, Fulton's is where I'm going to go!:thumbsup2

From another New Englander (just minutes from Gloucester and Ipswich) I have to say that the food at Fultons is just as good (and as pricey) as what I am used to from home. Not for nothing, the prices at some of the NE places in NE are just as outrageous as the places that fly the darn seafood in fresh daily!!

Cannot wait to eat at Fultons in just 38 days! and then again in March!
