??Full Loop??

Several years ago we took the monorail from Epcot to MK or either MK to Epcot... too long ago to remember, but what I do remember is this: We passed the Poly and went through the Contempo. The last two years we have ridden the monorail just for fun as we use the resort buses for transportation. However, the last two times we started at Epcot and ended up at the terminal. I am taking my niece this year (end of May) for her first WDW visit and want to take her on the monorail the day we arrive. I know I will have to take a bus to either Epcot or MK and then board the monorail, but exactly where should I board to get the full loop and will it take us to both parks, through the Contemporary & by Poly? Thanks in advance for your help

The EPCOT/MK monorail doesn't pass by the Poly or through the Contemporary. You would need to change monorails to either the Resort loop or the Express (I belive that's what its called).

The "Resort Monorail" takes you to the resorts and you board at the TTC or at MK. You must change monorails at TTC when you travel between MK/Epcot and Epcot/MK.

There are three different lines that the monorails travel on.

1. The Magic Kingdom Express Monorail - you can board this at either the Transportation and Ticket Center OR at the Magic Kingdom. This monorail path goes through the resorts but does not stop. It depends on where you board which resorts you will pass (or you could stay on for an entire loop and get off where you got on)

2. The Resort Monorail - this monorail follows the same "path" as the express, just on a different beam. This monorail stops at all resorts, as well as the Magic Kingdom and the TTC. You can get on anywhere and ride it as far as you want.

3. The EPCOT Monorail - you can board this at either the Transportation and Ticket Center OR at EPCOT. This monorail path does not go near the resorts at all. Instead it takes you directly out and past the Magic Kingdom parking lot gate (with the sign) and runs along side of World Drive all the way to EPCOT. This monorail path also takes you over Future World in EPCOT before stopping at the monorail station outside the park gates.

So there isn't really a "full loop" that you can just get on and will take you past everything without changing monorails at some point.

To see everything, your best bet is to go to the TTC, and get on the resort monorail. Ride that around back to the TTC. Then switch to the EPCOT monorail and go all the way to EPCOT and all the way back. Hope this helps.

I guess you could also take the Express loop, you won't stop at the resorts, but you will pass by them. It takes longer on the resort loop to get all the way around (obviously because of stopping time). Then take the Express back to the TTC from the MK

As others have said, there are three monorail routes. One goes TTC to Epcot. the EXPRESS goes TTC to MK with no other stops - but it travels BY the three MK resorts you mention. you just have to stay on after you go to MK.

The third monorail route is basically the same as the second, but it actually STOPS at the three resorts you mention PLUS MK and the TTC. If you rode the MK express, you probably got off at MK - but it travels the full loop you just have to stay on it.

If your goal is just to pass BY the monorail resort- you can take EITHER of the MK routes. The hitch is that one of them doesn't stop. The second hitch is the order. If you take the express monorail, but want to pass by the resorts you'll need to STAY on the monorail AFTER it goes to MK.

One option you may want to consider if your goal is to have fun riding the monorail. Instead of taking a bus to MK, consider taking a taxi to the TTC. From many resorts the cost is under $20, and a taxi will take you directly to the TTC.

Likewise, if you are riding the resort monorail to get a look at the deluxe resorts, consider stopping at one of them. You can sit in any of the lobbies for free, hear live music at GF (and in the evenings at Poly). All the three resorts have quick serve options. All three have resort gift shops.


I think we are also assuming you are staying at one of the mods or values. From Ft. Wilderness of WL you can take a boat to MK.


Last - I don't know the latest, but once upon a time the monorail was very reliable. In recent years, they often shut them down during the day. Some of it was for construction that might be completed, some of it is to repair the monorails. So check and see what the monorail schedule is before assuming it will be running.
