Dad Fulcer came to pick us up today for our trip to Disney bright and early. Well, compared to other trips, it was a luxury to get ready after the sun had risen. Amazingly enough, the Northwest flight to Detriot went great, and the flight to Orlando went without a hitch. We when arrived it was 78 -a full 52 degrees warmer than Milwaukee when we left. Our luggage was coming off the conveyor just as we walked up. Everything boded well for our trip so far. Until... we got to the Emerald Aisle for our reservations, and there were 4 cars there. One was reserved, two were locked with no keys, and one other car not much bigger than one of our big suitcases. That, and there were two other groups of people looking for cars. An unhelpful employee told us garbage about supply and demand. We asked with no supply, how can you have demand? She told us 'just pick an intermediate car and take that, what your reservations were'. So we were trying to cram our suitcases into a small car(did we really pack that much??), and cars started magically appearing on the aisle. A van appeared and before the driver even turned the engine off, we were knocking on the window telling him he might as well not turn the key as we were taking the van as soon as it was loaded. In our new van, we drove away happily. What we didn't understand is why the employee didn't tell us just wait a few minutes. Looking in my rear view mirror as we drove away, the aisle was full of cars. Oh well...

We drove to Port Orleans, and checked in. We grabbed a quick bite at the food court, but it was pretty busy so it took us a while. Getting to the room was no problem, and the room was decent. We stayed in the Riverside section, building 16. Amazingly enough, the whole building seemed empty - which could have had something to do with a bunch of guys carrying a HUGE water heater downstairs from the second floor. While they did volunteer to stick it into the back of my van after my comment that I would love a heater that big, I didn't think it would qualify as a 'carryon' with Northwest. While mommy unpacked, Brittany and I jumped in the pool right outside our door. We swam for a while, enjoying the heated water being pumped into the pool. Back in the room, we went to bed early, not even setting the alarm - figuring we'd get up when we got up.

All in all, a good first day of vacation. A little upsetting about the car, but that resolved itself nicely and taught us a lesson - wait for more cars. It was no more than 10 mins after the employee was not helpful to when the cars started arriving. The Port Orleans room was kinda small, but considering we were going to the Villas at Wilderness Lodge the next day, it was something worth enduring. Both Gael and I had sore backs after sleeping on the bed, but since it was smaller than what we were used to, that might have been it.
