We are going to WDW on Oct 10. :cool1: We are spending 1 night at the Villas at Ft Wilderness and then spending the rest of the trip at Saratoga Springs. My wife and I recently heard that they have hayrides and pony rides at Ft Wilderness campgrouns. We thought our grandkids may enjoy this, however we don't really know anything about it. :confused3 The last time we stayed at the campground was on out first trip in 1977. Any information on Ft Wilderness campground activities or the Villas would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Dean & Carol

Tickets for the hayride are available on the day you would like to go and can be purchased either at the hayride itself (if not sold out) or at the Ft. Wilderness Kennels - (407) 824-2735. I'm not sure about the pony rides, but if you call the kennels, I'm sure they can help you out.

Pony rides are at the petting farm down by Trail's End/Pioneer Hall most days. Costs about $4 and there is child's weight limit I think. Basically the child climbs a little set of steps up to a low stage and into the saddle. The ponies are little miniatures. An adult has to lead the pony around the petting farm trail (trust me, the pony knows where he's going) between the various animal pens back to the starting point. The whole walk takes about 2 minutes but makes for great pictures.

Also the grandkids might enjoy the campfire/sing-a-long every night with Chip & Dale. There is an amphitheatre in the middle of FW by the Meadow Trading post. Every night at 8pm a cast member (sometimes our Ms. Sundee graces us with her presence) comes out with a guitar, leads everyone in some songs, introduces C&D, and has fun. C&D work the crowd posing for photos, autographs, so everyone gets a visit. Songs continue while they mingle. There are also two campfires, one to either side up front for roasting marshmellows at the same time (or hot dogs, etc). A little "chuck wagon" behind the bleacher seats sells small bags of marshmellows, sticks, grahams, hershey's choc, etc if you want to do s'mores, etc. Reasonably priced for sticks and a small bag of mm. The campfire/sing-a-long lasts about 45 minutes then a movie is played (a schedule is posted as a sticky each month on this message board, posted at all FW bathhouses, or call the FW front desk). It is open to anyone, not just FW guests and it's FREE!!!!!

The time changes in fall/spring with moving the clocks so better double check. 8pm in the summer months, 7pm in the winter months but double check.

Enjoy!

Thank you for the information. We will certainly check out the campfire / sing-a-long. It will be their first night there. I am sure they will enjoy Chip & Dale along with the ponies.party:
