I just realized this may not be the right place to post this. We will be staying at WL with our 2yo DD and will be going over to Ft. Wilderness at least once. I know there's a boat that goes there, but I've read about a trail. Does anyone know if we could walk that trail instead, or how long it might take? Is it an overgrown trail, or paved that could take a stroller?

The trail is a nice wide paved trail that is about 1 mile long. You could take a stroller easily. The trail is not lighted, however, so I'd take a boat or bus in the evening. They are both very convenient.

Try to take time to enjoy what FW has to offer--petting zoo, campfire program with Chip and Dale, lots of playgrounds, rocking chairs on the porch by the Trails End, the Trails End buffet, hayride, etc.

Feel free to post over on the Dis Camping board if you have any more questions!

Have gone over to Fort Wilderness many times from the Lodge...and we usually bike ride. The rental is located near the marina. can rent bikes...(they have child seats)...they have both adult and training wheel bikes. We have found this a pleasant way to travel around FW. Hopefully one day we will get to bring our travel trailer to FW...never seem to have enough time to do that...so we've had to settle for a bike trip to visit and check it out. AS indicated the traile from WL to FW is paved and nice and wide. Good for a daytime trip. Bikes need to be back before dark anyway. So if you plan an evening trip...I'd take the water launch or bus. It's darkt around there in the evening without a flash light..if you are walking to the campfire program you should take the bus...or remember a flash light.

Don't forget to have at least one meal at Trails End Buffet. We love the WL and have to have a few meals each time at Trails End Buffet. Great food at the best prices on site.

That's a great idea. If we get there in time on our first night, maybe we'll eat at Trail's End then and check things out.
