Ft. Wilderness Cabins becoming DVC?

Have stayed at Fort Wilderness once before and wanting to get back there sometime in the not so distant future. Really wondering if anyone has heard when cabins will start getting swapped out?

Worried about being there when a lot of construction is going on.

Not currently DVC and don't think we could afford to be. I am happy to see that it still will be possible to stay there without it.
Given that the cabins are arranged in loops, I believe it will be easy for Disney to close down one loop, swap out the cabins there, then move on to another loop. That will greatly limit disruptions to guests. OTOH, we don't know anything about the other "improvements" they plan and how those might impact guests at Ft. Wilderness.

If they change main water/sewer or electric lines that could take longer than placing and hooking up the units. If it is just a remove/hookup and furnish it could go quite quickly like a loop a month.

I’ll be curious whether this product will be sold the same time as Poly2 or not, and if so, how they will differentiate it.

I talked to my guide yesterday about another issue, but these FW Cabins came up in the conversation.
Trying to read between the lines of what my guide can and can't say...

That photo shown on the last page may have indeed been a pre-production cabin for this project.
My guide brought it up himself, without any prompting on my part.

As far as timing, sales may start late 2023 or very early 2024.
It may be wishful thinking, but looking at opening by Memorial Day weekend.

As for Poly2, sales may start late spring or early summer 2024 and opening by Thanksgiving.

So it does look like both of these will be actively selling at the same time, but they will be targeting different markets for each.
I think they will have to change VGF to "sold out" status before they bring Poly2 sales online.

With everything going on with Disney now, it would not take much to throw a wrench into the mix and change every plan DVC has in play.
Hopefully not.
I am really looking forward to both of these projects.

😳 … not sure my husband will let me add on that soon…😂🤣😂 we just bought our first contacts 2 weeks ago.

Haha!

That should not be a problem.
Just go on a couple trips, show him the $0 bill when you leave, and then wait for the add-on-itis to kick in.

It got me by the end of my first trip. :rotfl2:

And now I am trying to figure out how to get contracts for both FW Cabins and Poly2 next year. :rolleyes1

The photo on the last page was an internet famous custom build - privately owned. It is only 300 sq feet and based on the video would not be serviceable as a DVC unit as it was clearly custom built for the two owners with interesting but not flexible design choices.

The only photo I have seen is created by Disney… I hope their units are useful for DVC owners…. We are very excited about the possibility of (finally) dog friendly DVC accomadations…

😂 so you are saying the sweet spot is after our welcome home trip at WDW (1 night VGF 3 nights RIV) next week but before our VDH reservation in December… 🤣

Our RIV and VDH contracts are financed so we will be seeing that bill every month starting in August…🤪 maybe I will just have to scrounge up $6k in cash and do a 25 point add on. 🤔 What do I have lying around that I can sell?

Also 25 points is less than I’d like to add but it’s probably enough to satisfy the goal of having a Halloween or Christmas stay every 2-3 years.🤞that those are some of the only times the 11 month priority booking window is essential.

VDH and RIV (and maybe CCV) have a minimum of 50 points for add ons, whether its cash or finance....other resorts go as low as 25.

I have heard parts of Fort Wilderness are evacuated when bad storms are expected to hit. I understand for campers. Does anyone know if they have evacuated the cabins in the past?
Perhaps they have similar policies to PVB bungalows and CCR cabins?

They are in a flood zone just like the treehouses
