Ft. Wilderness Cabins becoming DVC?

Will be interested to see if they leave it as a pet friendly resort. Will be nice to have at least once dvc property that allows pets. More of a wife grievance but happy wife happy life.
It's assumed that at least one or two loops will remain pet-friendly. I wanted to say it's been announced, but I haven't been able to find the official Disney announcement.

Does anyone have a link to the official announcement? I can't find it, although I remember reading the announcement from Bill Diercksen, maybe in the form of an email. But just now I've done multiple internet searches and can find links to both Disney-specific and general news agencies reporting it, but not the actual Disney announcement itself. I also searched the DVC member website and the Disney Parks Blog without success.

Are the Cabins at Fort Wilderness going the way of Reflections? If so, I'm sad!

I don't think it was ever announced on DPB or DVC's site, just through press releases.

EDIT: here's the Internet Archive's May 10th capture of the Disney Parks Blog DVC page: https://web.archive.org/web/2023051...o.com/blog/destinations/disney-vacation-club/

It doesn't have any mention of it even on May 10th. The page has news back to February and CFW was announced on 4/20/23.

it is getting a bit concerning, This was announced to be a 2024 releasing before Poly as the 17th resort.

The glass half full Poly owners assume this means that the new Tower will just fall into the existing association. In reality, this resort will likely just open first since most of these cabins are prefab and built offsite and just moved in via trucks. But we shall see….. Only six months of guessing to go haha

You’re missing the point - there has been no progress yet on the cabins. This has nothing to do with poly

I remember getting something (an email, maybe) or reading something that I considered official. It specified the cabins would sleep 6 adults, which I noted because it indicated to me that any bunks or Murphy beds would be twin-size at least, and that there would be pet-friendly units. Maybe I'm just remembering what I read on media websites and considered it official because Bill Diercksen was quoted.

Yes, I searched there too, since it and the DVC member website are the most authoritative sites, as far as I'm concerned. It's very troubling that all mention has disappeared from those Disney-controlled sites - that's what happened with Reflections, too. The internet was scrubbed of all official statements on Disney-controlled sites.

We like to stay at all new DVC resorts, just to check them out, but I was really looking forward to staying at the Cabins!

Thanks - that’s the announcement I remember. I hope it hasn’t disappeared from the DVC member website and Disney Parks Blog because it’s canceled - hopefully it’s just delayed. Maybe they need to sell those direct Poly2 points to get capital to fund the Cabins…. Or I can think of a number of other possibilities. Maybe it’s a number of things.

The original press release still exists and I feel it may have never actually been on any of the other sites being referenced here.

Additionally, regarding construction - Keep in mind that these are essentially arriving onsite ready to go. Once they start, they can swap these out fairly quickly I imagine.

That’s reassuring! But wasn’t it on the member website and DPB too?
I don’t believe so - The web archive search shows no mention of it on either site in May 2023 which would have been less than a month after the announcement. Those are snapshots of those websites at that moment in time and data cannot be removed from them.

Thanks. Again, reassuring!

I was in the EPCOT lounge last week and they were talking up the cabins....
Yes this conversion should go relatively quickly since they are using the existing footprint and just dropping in prebuilt cabins. Looking forward to these so we can finally bring our dog with us 😀

Yes, that is my view.... Whether my dog wishes to experience the magic is less certain....

On another note, during our June trip, it was noted down by someone, and our guide called us and left a VM. So Disney is definitely already tracking interest in the cabins. My concern is we like being near the parks (walking distance). So, I'm not convinced we are going to buy the cabins. However, a 2074 expiration date would work very nicely for me. We will see....
