Ft. Wilderness Cabins becoming DVC?

Did they actually say that? All I've ever seen is "2024".
Correct.

Full paragraph:
The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort – A Disney Vacation Club Resort is projected to open in 2024 and would be the 17th Disney Vacation Club resort. Additional information regarding project details, the start of sales and rental bookings will be released at a later date.

I think what @DonMacGregor was referring to was that the cabins would open before Poly2. I also have not seen anything that confirms that only that these are opening in 2024.

The article mentions it as the 17th resort which is why some are betting that Poly and Poly2 will be the same association. It could also be the 17th with Poly2 being the 18th hence it would open before Poly2.

I have yet to see anything confirmed other than the number of the resort and the year it is set to open.

Yes, the article by Paul Krieger on April 20, 2023 "NEW DVC Cabins Coming to Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort" as well as a few others indicated several enhancements including pool, dinning and walking trail. Which we hope means the pathway between Fort Wilderness and Wilderness Lodge.

I was speaking to the "before Poly" assertion. There's been nothing published to suggest that, other than a random mention of it being the 17th resort.

Do you really think Poly 2 is going to open before 2025? Seems very unlikely

I have a good feeling it will. They have made a lot of progress over there and the recent incentives seem to prioritizing selling out grand Flo aligns with that. Obviously the cabins are going to be a lot less work on site if what was said about them being prefabricated and hauled in.

While I haven’t exactly done a hard-nosed comparison of Riviera (WDW’s last new construction tower) and Poly tower, I did look up what Riviera looked like in Aug 2018.

https://wdwnt.com/2018/08/photos-disneys-riviera-resort-construction-update/

It wouldn’t open for guests until Dec 2019.

Granted Poly tower appears to be built on a smaller footprint and probably fewer units to finish, but I still think absent evidence to the contrary that it’s far more likely we’ll see cabins replaced and reopened months before Poly Tower opens.

Oh, DonMacGregor sorry about that. The FW announcement was a surprise to me initially but it makes a lot of sense.
As I said before DVC is printing press. It provides locked in revenue on so many fronts. I suspect Disneyland Execs are looking for the next property.
Thanks ehh! For someone is not there glad you had the link. I tried to find that the other day.

Agree - it like what VDH is going through- there are months of work after the outside looks finished. Currently the shell is up - but that is the part that looks quick since they are premade offsite. It really is not that small I am guessing at least 250 rooms ?

I am more concerned on the physical signs of new/improved dining experiences, pool, walking trails. Ability to drive and park a Golf Cart at Wilderness Lodge is desirable. The other thing I thought that might have surfaced was the 3rd party construction company contracted to build the cabins from Bioreconstruct or other bloggers/vloggers. Logistically building 100s of Cabins should be in close proximity to WDW. I am fascinated with Tiny Homes (and Skoolies) and follow a couple of companies. ORCA is an example of one who actually takes the manufacturing process to the community and builds environment friendly low maintenance homes.

Unfortunately they have never allowed golf carts to leave Fort Wilderness and go to Wilderness Lodge.
Hopefully they will open the walking trails to the lodge again.

That is just sad! Then DVD needs to plan some major updates to Fort Wilderness. They have the activities covered. But lounges and table service restaurants are lacking. I would love a Yehaa Bob lounge at this resort. Someone like him would be a great addition to this resort.

A nice thing Disney could possibly do would be to bring back the Backyard Barbecue or something to take its place. Pretty much had the same food as Hoop de doo revue, but we thought they were both a lot of fun.

Just posted this in the "Does Lack of ROFR Degrade Your DVC Owbership" thread,
but then thought I would include it here as well:

We love the look of the artist-rendering for the FW "Trailers"! :P
We sold our Camp-Site in 2019 to buy more DVC;
it consisted of a 39' "Park Model Trailer - RV" on a leased property in Mercersburg PA.
Before making the shift, we went looking for places near Orlando to move our Park Model.
We were unsuccessful, and eventually sold it outright to buy DVC Points with the proceeds.
We are happy with this lifestyle shift in retirement, spending Winter in WDW, but when we saw this announcement the DW and I both smiled and agreed that we have to stay here. It will be "Glamping Nostalgia" for us !!! :goodvibes

Of course, it will depend on the Points Chart, as others are speculating upon........

Howdy! former neighbor. We use to live in Emmaus PA. Moved to Orlando 3 years ago. Before the move we considered building a Skooklie and travel a bit before settling in Orlando. We are huge fans of the Tiny Home movement. We are looking forward to our first stay at FW in 2024.

Awesome Sauce! We often miss our time in the PA Mountains.
I have to ask about your handle : Are you holding a deposit on a Tesla CyberTruck?

So ostensibly some of the FW inventory will need to be removed at least some period of time before these units become available... I've not heard of signs being apparent that is happening anytime soon.

I would go to a campground, spend less, get a lake I can swim in, and likely more privacy then elsewhere.

I never get the resort only stays though.

Interested to see what they do though there.
We've only twice done true "resort only stays," and one of them was at Fort Wilderness when the kids were little and Mickey's Backyard BBQ still existed. But when we travel just us and our kids, we don't tend to spend a whole day in the park -- just usually a few hours to hit some rides and places we love, and the rest is taking advantage of the amenities and activities at the resort. However, when we travel with family and friends, they usually want to be in the park from dawn to dusk!
