Ft. Wilderness Cabins becoming DVC?

These units could easily have a combined washer/dryer laundry in the kitchen. Unless they've specifically said these won't have laundry, it may be premature to assume they won't.

I'm also curious if they will loft 2 twin beds to get the 5th and 6th sleeper, with a murphy pulldown bed for the 3rd and 4th guests.

I’m curious if they will leave the current set up with 4 in the bedroom and 2 in the common space? They may also do what they did at the all star and AOA family suites and put in a table bed for the 5th and 6th. I really REALLY hope they don’t do that. I hate Losing the table so someone can sleep 🫣

also, I remember being told when we bought Poly that the reason they didn’t do 1 and 2 bedrooms at the time had something to do with existing infrastructure and water/sewer hookups, that may be a clue as to whether or not we get W/D in each cabin 😬

I'M SO STOKED FOR THESE CABINS I CAN'T FREAKING STAND IT!
WHERE ARE THE POINTS CHARTS AND PRICING?!?!?

Do you think if we get a big enough contingent of us we could force DVC to release details early? :rotfl2:

I hate how they trickle these details out. Is there still not even anything official on the DVC pages anywhere? All I have seen is the posting on the experiences (travel agent focused) webpage. So bizarre!

They didn't release the point chart and pricing for VDH until a few weeks before sales...it is typically that way. My guess is we wont see information for about a year...depending on when opening date is. BPK opened June of 2022, and they announced things in February, with pricing and incentives not until day sales opened, in March.

My biggest worry is how they stuff 6 in. I am fine if the bedding isn't so obtrusive to make the already small space feel more cramped. We would never put more than 4....and we REALLY would not want bunk beds in our "master". I can deal with just about every other compromise discussed (single bathroom, communal w/d's, limited oven)...

I think Most people would agree with you on the bunk bed thing 👍

Correct me if I am wrong, but the current cabins that are in use currently have a life-span of 30 years. Is it possible DVC will actually go for a 30-year deed on this property rather than the regular 50, as to have to replace the cabins with no additional income to do so partway through the deed seems unlikely?
Leaseholds are 40 year’s minimum in Florida- so that would be complicated- modern manufactured homes could last the 50 years with expert maintenance.

I would not put 10 adults in a a RR 2br lock off. But 6 would work. I think of it like tents - just because it says a 2 man tent don’t mean you will fit.

Back 25 years ago they had a Murphy bed where the TV is now. lots of parents would put the 3 kids in the bedroom and use the Murphy bed.

Down the road thought... If you have a RV and wanted to combine a RV stay with a Cabin stay, I wonder if they would let you keep your rig parked in the overflow lot...

With that in mind, I wonder what the refurb schedule/plan would be.

Is there much ability to do a significant hard goods refurb with one of these units? Or would the refurbs cycle between soft goods and just moveable hard goods?

I can definitely see these being available next year. They do not have to have all of them complete. As with all new DVC resorts they only release for sale a portion of the resort at a time (declare). They basically start with just 25% of the capacity. For the more traditional resorts, they only declare 25% of the resort and the balance they keep and reserve out as cash rooms. Since there are standalone buildings, they only need to complete 50-60 of them and the common areas declared in the POS, and then they can open. Then they just need to complete the following cabins in time to declare the next batch of inventory. The sales rate will drive the construction rate. This will help manage cash flow! Minimal upfront investment and then the project funds itself! They can even leave parts of the Fort as the current cabins and keep reserving them out for cash until they are ready to flip each area.

Considering how much these new cabins look like Reflections and how quickly this is happening, I think this was all apart of the overall DVC plan for this area. Originally, they were doing Reflections first and then these cabins. With Reflections stalled, they are proceeding with the Cabins and will eventually reinvent Reflections as the next enhancement of the property. Of course, this is just a thought….one can never know with DVC.

IMO, the best-case scenario would be each lofted space having a double bed, maximizing living/kitchen/bathroom space, even if alienating some customers that would not be able to climb up to the loft.

I'm really intrigued by Disney's path moving forward. These cabins represent a very different room configuration, implying that Disney is not as concerned about offering standardized room types. Even the DVC contract language will be different now with a new room type.

It might also suggest that Disney has saturated the market with "standard" room types, and these new configurations are necessary to address additional market segments / the long tail of the market.

That makes a lot of sense.

This new resort will be desirable for a small segment of DVC buyers, but they could be very interested with the unique features, namely the ability to bring their dogs and the 6 person capacity which I believe will have a loft for 2 people.

I am betting the points will be a little over the 1 bd units at the other places. They are nowhere near as nice as a cabin at Cooper Creek, nor as spacious as a regular one bedroom. You would be limited to only one size of accommodation, which could be a problem if there are restrictions like RR, youŕe dealing with internal busses, and you are in a campsite, which will be a draw for some people.

The comment made by a pp about the similarity with Reflections was a good point. If these had come after the build up surrounding the Reflections resort like the pool, restaurant and anything else, then these would make more sense to me.

This is not the type of timeshare I would be interested in buying; we like the traditional ones; we are all for comfort, space, and some luxury while on vacation, but I would like to try one.

I hope that if they intended to put 4 people in the loft they wouldn't have advertised it as sleeping 6 adults.

The arrangement would be much simpler as queen + twin fold down in the bedroom, murphy plus twin fold down in the living area. Simple and they can use existing suppliers.

Ladders and lofts would be risky

Unless these tiny-home purchases are all direct from a new supplier and are shipped with lofts? I'm not even sure how "Disney-fied" any of these will be.
