Ft. Wilderness Cabins becoming DVC?

I have no problem with DVC having lots of points available. They need to have more declared inventory than points sold at each place for sale so it's easier to get a roommate at 7 months in the entire network.

They are important to get under control when they are big. We have a 110 pound one and why I worked him so hard but yeah they have their own mind and at least you recognize which ones can handle. Some people are careless owners for sure.
Our guy is a rescue and 99 out of 100 times he is excellent

The problem is there is no certainty when that 1 time will be.

It’s been a lot of work. He loves adults. Is unsure of kids and is food aggressive on occasion.

I have seen people at the dog park bring dogs that are dangerous so I have concerns about pet friendly locations. Dogs much worse than ours that they just let roam unleashed.

We don’t bring our guy to places with other pets but we have over an acre of fenced yard for him to exercise.

The transportation options are similar to SSR or OKW - I would even say better if you spring for the golf cart.
Assume the golf cart is in resort only? You can't cart over to the TTC, can you?

If be fine with SSR transport....but have found OKW measurably worse. Maybe just our experience.

The golf carts are for Fort Wilderness internal use only.
You cannot drive them outside of the Fort Wilderness resort, not even over to Wilderness Lodge.
Also, you are not allowed to drive your car inside of the Fort except when you are leaving the resort, like going to a grocery store offsite, or coming back from offsite.

The Fort Wilderness internal transport system differs from SSR and OKW.

At the Fort, the internal buses are separate from the buses to the parks and Disney Springs.
The buses from the parks do not go inside the Fort.
There are three internal bus routes, don't get on the wrong one or your day will get much longer.

From your campsite or cabin loop you have to take an internal bus either to the settlement (by the lake) to catch a boat to the Magic Kingdom, or to the Outpost (at the entrance to the Fort) to catch the buses to the other parks or Disney Springs.

When returning to the Fort on a bus, it will drop you off at the Outpost and you have to wait on the correct internal bus to get you back to your loop.

Having a golf cart allows you to go to the settlement or outpost on your own without having to wait for an internal bus.
There is golf cart parking at both the settlement and the outpost.

More importantly, when coming back from a long day at the park, you can just jump on your golf cart and go.
No waiting for the internal bus.

Maybe a microwave / convection oven combo to replace the microwave.
I believe that is what they have now. We stayed there in 2019 and I remember making a frozen pizza in there. A bit tricky to get the timing right, but it worked.

We really enjoyed our time in that little cabin... this has me more interested than buying direct anywhere else. But we are also people who previously enjoyed camping and now enjoy sleeping in beds... so best of both worlds. :)

I am wondering about one thing.

All the cabins are in loops on the south end near the Outpost...

But...

There are two cabins in loop 100 next to full hookup RV campsites, right at the Settlement/Lake.

Are these two going to be upgraded and be DVC?
Are they going to remain part of the Fort?
Or are they going to be removed all together?

In the past I thought about taking the RV, getting a site next to one of those two cabins, and renting the cabin for extended family.

correction to my deleted post - they now have dedicated ADA cabins - the two you are referring to are now not bookable by guests and used by Disney.

It seems Disney is aggressively trying to de-risk its lodging portfolio. DVC owners footing the bill, making rooms guaranteed paid for with dues. Mousekeeping/front desk/grounds crews funded by owners. All expenses off Disney’s plate. If the parks are closed, the lodging is paid for anyway. No “downturns” to impact and no discounting for rooms necessary.

Why is poly better for Epcot monorail?
It's a pretty easy walk to TTC for the monorail to Epcot from Poly, I think it's multiple busses to get to TTC from FW.
We actually like to walk to TTC from VGF1 with a stop at Capt. Cooks for a light early lunch and off to TTC for the monorail. The pathway is under construction right now, so it is probably easier to take the monorail all the way around from GF

I do not see these being priced anywhere near CC Cabins or Poly Bungalows. They really are not even comparable to a treehouse. The treehouse has a full kitchen, laundry, 3 bedrooms and is ok to navigate the entire resort if you have a car.

At most I could see it costing slightly more than typical 1 bedrooms. I could also see it being between a studio and 1 bedroom if it does not contain a w/d. The transportation situation sounds less than ideal. If you have a car, can you currently park it at your cabin and use it as transportation to the parks? Or do you need to get on an internal bus to get to your car? I assume you need to get on a bus to get to the pool or other resort amenities depending on location?

Even a typical 1BR is nicer than the "moderate" FW Cabin, currently. Whether or not the new cabins are going to be nicer (they'll certainly be newer) and there are updates and added amenities to the FW resort (pool(s), dining, transportation, etc.), remains to be seen and may or may not increase the price point and desirability to the DVC population. Then again, who knew an annual pass would increase in price to $1,400, and they're selling like hotcakes at that price to the general Disney fanbase.

They were letting 1 car per cabin in recent years - you used to have to unload at the cabin and park it in the lot

When you access the value - the room should be approx a SSR 1 br or slightly higher than a Poly studio. less than a treehouse

I predicted 230 week based on current rate.

You have to factor in the large deck and the area around the cabin grill plus the “different than a hotel” factor into the price.

Correct me if I am wrong, but the current cabins that are in use currently have a life-span of 30 years. Is it possible DVC will actually go for a 30-year deed on this property rather than the regular 50, as to have to replace the cabins with no additional income to do so partway through the deed seems unlikely?

I don't think there is any relationship between the life of the current cabins and however the new structures would be built to.
