Ft. Wilderness Cabins becoming DVC?

With the Poly2, it must be an advantage to Disney keep the association a secret right now. They could lose money somehow if it was leaked? Which way would Disney pocket the most money, same or new?

Given that they kept the resale restrictions in place for VDH, it seems that it would make sense for that to be a new association so they can do the same with Poly tower and seeing thst CFW will be a néw resort thst will most likely get them.

No idea why they have not yet said anything but they also did not announce the VDH restrictions either..it was noticed in the updated POS.

I personally think they will make more money direct selling new but others think differently.

The announcement already says it will be one bathroom. After BLT and Kidani, DVD stopped putting two bathrooms in any of the 1 bedrooms....
I thought there were two bathrooms in the concept drawings for the new VDH? Did they change that?

One thing to note - The cabins currently have a dishwasher but no oven or W/D it is a very small kitchen. To add an Oven and a W/D they would most likely need to upgrade water/sewer and electric. Being a campground they are used to adding electricity as the sites If I recall were upgraded from 30 to 50 amps in the 90s -plus Florida is all sand so it is not a major task.

I'd guess the points will be similar to the treehouses, although it could be argued that the location is better given the boat to MK (not sure I agree but it's def an 'MK resort'). I hope they structure the points so that pet-friendly rooms are a higher point value like with the concierge rooms at AK as opposed to paying a daily $ fee.

The only way I can see them removing bunks from the bedroom and still fitting 6 people is if they have a Murphy bed and two sleeping chairs in the living room. I guess it could be done, but it seems tight. I would love it if they did it that way and squeezed a king into the bedroom and a laundry closet somewhere.
No offense but the treehouses have much much more to them than the cabins. Staying in one of these as a trailer with log coverings outside. I enjoy it but this whole thing is a fail if they price much more than a one bedroom.

Maybe a microwave / convection oven combo to replace the microwave.

When did they remove the oven? When we stayed in the 90s we had one! Stayed three different times too.

I agree that they could make slightly more money in the long run with a separate association, it’s just that what they’re building at Poly isn’t sufficient to be a separate association. That’s why I don’t think there’s even a question here.

That’s correct, the drawings showed 2 bathrooms in a 1BR. We don’t know for sure if that changed yet though.

I believe in 2016 it was replaced with just a cooktop.

If they upgraded the electricity in the 90s, it all probably runs through pipes and can mostly be pulled through. Easy fix.

How many rooms will the new Poly tower have?

ITA. I have no idea how close these are to one another, and probably never will. But the idea of someone's dog barking me awake at 6AM, I'm out.

But there's lots of room in DVC for lots of styles. Sounds like a lot of people do want to travel with their dogs.

Do not fear the dogs, however you SHOULD fear the state bird of Florida - the mosquito. The one time we took a carriage ride at the Fort we were eaten alive - never happened anywhere else in property

Upgrading FW and adding it to DVC is one of the best ideas they have come up with. Talk about Welcome Home ! This is what DVC is all about! Not ridiculous overpriced and taxed rooms in Disneyland or out of reach POLY Bungalows. I think families will love this. I would bet that these will sell out before those Disneyland Hotel points do. Especially if the point chart is reasonable. Great Idea DVC ! I love it !

I love it, but it might not be an easy sell. Fort wild weeds as a whole is a bit more of a pain to get to the parks.

Feelings aside of owning here or even liking the cabins, my gut tells me that buying here is not going to allow you much flexibility in using your points somewhere else. Your week here is only going to be like 3-4 nights somewhere else especially if you need to actually sleep 6 which means 2BRs

My personal experience is with 300 SSR points. That gets me a 2BR for a week at SSR or 5ish nights somewhere else.

CFW conversion rate will be even worse.

I'm curious if this is something that will interest those who are doing more of the "resort-only" stays. I could see Ft. Wilderness as a destination unto itself, similar to AKV, especially if they developed it a little more. I do not think it would be enough of an appeal to make someone purchase a membership there solely to use as a resort-only stay, but I could definitely see the appeal to use the cabins as a "retreat" for those who have done the parks one too many times and are looking for some relaxation. I could definitely see myself using our points there for a resort-only stay in Jan/Feb to get out of the Michigan winter...and I would not need to spend any time in the parks. Camping is just fine with me!
