Our kids get out of school in late June and go back after Labor Day. Any suggestions of when we should do a week at Fort Wilderness/WDW? Or will it be equally hot and crowded from late June until early September? LOL.

It will be hot and crowded all summer but I would go as early in the summer as possible. The longer you wait the hotter, wetter and deeper into hurricane season it gets.

If you have a choice, I also say go earlier in the summer.

We stayed at Ft.W cabins this past summer, 7/28 thru 8/4 and it rained everyday! A lot of rain, even the parades were cancelled. It was extremely hot, too! We knew it would be like thatWe didn't have a choice of time to go, so we just went. We had the best family vacation ever!

It will be hot all summer - good weather for the water parks, the heat sometimes makes the theme parks uncomfortable - at least for us, i suggest maybe going to the parks early, then head to a water park for the afternoon or back to the resort and rest by the pool then head back to the theme parks in the evening.

We have done both (trip in early june when school let out and trip in late Aug right before school started)

I think it is hit and miss with the weather.....we had 7 full days of hard rain in early June and 14 days of on and off again storms in late Aug.

As far as crowds - we found the very last week in Aug to be much like mid sept (very low crowds) as long as you clear out before the labor day weekend crowds arrive.

- lori

The heat will be the same, but I think the crowds will be heavier from mid-June until early August. Mid to late August will be better for crowds. Rain almost every day is a given.

Sounds like we should really consider the third or fourth week in August. (If we can wait that long. LOL) Sounds like a lot of kids will be back in school by then. I know they go back in mid August in Atlanta.

Thanks.

We have been a couple of times in late August. I know most of the Florida kids are back in school by mid August.
