A week or so ago there was a thread that got me thinking. It was about being polished and several people gave me the advice to take one thing and change it. So I thought it would be a great thread to post one thing each week we want to work on and our progress. Also people can give input on things they have found that work.

I'll go first. I actually have two things. I plan to work on my weight (I'll head over to the wish forum for that). My big thing for this week is my skin. I plan to use a microdermabrasion kit I bought along with diligently moisturizing each day. I will also moisturize my feet each night and wear socks to bed. Each shower I will use a loofah and lotion after my shower.

Any ideas on these areas that worked for you? Also what do you want to work on this week?

You really shouldnt micro-derm everyday. Not good for you. Can irritate, as well.

Good for you, taking the steps to being less *frumpy* :thumbsup2

Nobody wants to join my club?

Thanks Cathryn. I plan to use it for 5 days like the intructions say. I didn't make it clear that the daily thing was for my moisturizing.

My 13 yo dd told me last week that I dress like a bag lady. So I have no advice.

Kids hold nothing back, do they? MY 15 year old daughter is always tellling me I wear my pants up too high, (I believe she thinks they're up around my armpits), and I wear the wrong kind of sneakers. :confused3

Let's be clear: I am not joining your club. ;) But here's a tip....self tanner, if needed. A little color on your face legs and arms makes a huge difference! My personal recommendation is Neutragena Bronzing Foam. :thumbsup2

"Weighing" in--I'll join. I HATE being frumpy. I dress professionally, but always feel conspicuous because of my weight. I was going to start eating more healthy after Easter, but I decided last night that there is no time like the present--so I started today.

My other problem--I have HORRIBLY thin hair. If I don't comb it "just right" you can see my scalp in different places. Even if I DO comb it right, you can still tell it is very thin. My mother has very thin hair as well. What can I (safely, inexpensively) do about that? I would love to have thicker hair, but I'm not going to Hans Weimann. Any suggestions??

BTW, I would LOVE to be a size 12 by graduation in December. That's my goal!

LOL. My dd will pull her pants way up under her armpits and act silly and say "Who am I?" No need to tell you who she is imitating. And she and her father will just laugh and laugh.

Welcome to my first official member. We are in this together.

About the thin hair. I also have very thin hair due to Lupus. I wear a hat 99% of the time. I plan to have some extensions done from Hair Club. I'll let you know how it goes after my consultation.

Thanks for joining and good luck. Let me know how it goes.

I highly reccommend Neutrogena skin care products. They've worked wonders on my skin! They have many different formulas for all skin types. Don't forget sunblock!! Good skin is great for the self esteem. Good luck!

What????? You don't want to join my club? You must be perfect.... :cool1: Just kidding!!

I appreciate you input on the tan. I agree that a tan makes big difference. I am going next week to get one of those spray tans. I am having a pool party that week that I am hosting. Needless to say I am not in a swimsuit, but I will be in shorts. I think a tan hides a multitude of sins....LOL. Feel free to stop in and help us on our journey out of "Frumpydom".

If your daughter says, "Not you, mom", maybe she's seen me out in public somewhere. :lmao:

I started a thread about 6 months ago. It was called "I want to be a ****". I was very funny and got locked. Before anyone asked **** is teen slang for Hot Mamma or Mother I'd like to Flirt with (lets just call it that for PG reasons.) ;) It was like 20 pages long and too funny. I think part of your problem is your tittle. It isn't frumy mom's, but hot mama's in the making! :cool1: Edited to add, holly cow they pulled that out on the sensor! I think that is my doing! :rotfl:

My point was serious though, I was sick and tried of looking like a sick and tried mama. I think I actually look better today then I did 7 years ago. :goodvibes It feels good to feel good about they way I look now.

Belive it or not I am not blond (based on that feel good comment!) :rotfl2:

I have one tip...do not wear tennis shoes. Wear boots or pumps in the winter, sandals in the summer...nothing is frumpier then tennis shoes...unless you're in tennis or work-out gear, or are 14 years old. I'm a 44 year old mom, really cheap...a $90 pair of boots three years ago has made a huge change. I'm going to need a new pair next year though, have worn these out.

Hey you tricked me! I thought we were going to get together to revel in our frumpyness! I want to feel good ie: healthy. But I don't care what other people think I should look like. The idea of beauty has changed so many times in the course of human culture. Like the poster who mentioned self tanners. 100 years ago women of culture wouldn't have been cought dead with a tan. Exposure to the elements was for the peasants. When I see someone who looks "flawless" with a tan I know it's just an illusion. She usually is uglier than me under all that makeup and self tanner.

With me what you see is what you get. I look exactly the same when I go out as when I wake up in the morning (well maybe a little less rumpled). I may not look as good as I could with a lot of expensive and time consuming artifice (ie: lieing) but my dh never gets a fright when he rolls over and sees me in the AM.:lmao: Good luck with whatever makes you feel good about yourself.:thumbsup2

I would like to shower....once a day. That is a good goal, right? Oh, and get dressed before 10 am.

Today I did go out and buy bras, a khaki jacket, a nice shirt and a pair of heels. I'm so very tired of my blah nursing bras, but he's not weaned enough for me to fit in my pre-pregnancy stuff. And I need to start wearing better shoes (I wear flip-flops all the time...even in the snow.)

I plan on going to the gym several times a week. I have about 35 pounds of baby weight I want to lose. I know it won't happen by my college reunion in May, but it's time to get started! Oh, and I guess I shouldn't eat those Hershey Kisses next to the computer...

That would be nice. On days I work out, I'm not showered and dressed until around 2pm. After I get done working out, I have to fix the boys lunch then take the older one to school. Then I get home and eat my own lunch. Then I finally get time for a shower.

That depends on where you live I think. Tennies are pretty much standard in this area.

I think that I'll join your club. I haven't had time yet but I desperately need some new jeans and I HAVE to get the right ones. I've got it straight now; no Mom jeans, no straight legs, no muffin tops. I'm so ready!
