Fruit flies!!

Pickle juice worked for me... I would get out the vacuum and hose them up every day until they were gone too.

we had them 3 years ago - filled several tiny glass baby food jars with apple cider vinegar, placed a Solo plastic bathroom size cup into the top (after poking holes in it with an ice pick) - flies in, drown, dump cup - repeat daily (for us, it took months, literally...)

cause of flies? - our downstairs neighbor moved several years ago, unplugged her refrigerator (without emptying it!!!) - when she moved back 2 years ago, we saw the refrigerator outside by the dumpster - literally black inside with slime and flies - that was the cause - no flies since then

SUPER SUPER EASY WAY!!!

Fill kitchen sink with soapy bubbly water, use your dish soap like Dawn/Palmolive etc. The fruit flies LOVE the scent of the soap so they dive into the water, then they can't get out. Empty sink and flies go down the drain.

Goodbye fruit flies!

This works! Give it a try! :cool1:

But if you put them in your vacuum then they could actually begin to reproduce in there and that would be gross. My aunt used to vaccuum spiders and it was not a good thing,

I would empty it daily. I never had a problem with it. They usually get sucked up and died :goodvibes I had to do it two times last year (months apart) after I bought banana's at walmart.. NEVER again!! :headache:

The only way to be "rid" of them is to find what the larvae are growing in. We've found that sometimes "fruit" flies are really "veggie" flies. Check your potatoes. We've found that they love to colonize them as well as fruit. The first big "outbreak" of them we had we were stumped because we didn't have any fruit out... and then one day I went to our pantry and found a bag of potatoes that were past their prime and full of flies. I threw the bag out, and a day or so later, no more files!

The DIS comes through again. Thank you for mentioning potatoes!!!

I'm not the OP but have been battling these little pests for afew days. Checked my potatoes this morning and sure enough..Yuck.. took my plastic bin with the potatoes outside. Mystery solved.

OP here.

The verdict is in. The little buggers chose: Cider Vinegar!!!

Caught a couple of dozen of those buggers last night, reset the jar this morning. Definately didn't like the beer :confused3 and liked, but didn't love, the orange juice.

My drain is clear (I put clear tape over it, no flies there). But I'll be checking potatoes tonight. Although, I bought them AFTER the infestation began.

Thanks for everyone's help!!!
