After their BBB makeovers Ashton and Avery were ready to dine with the princesses so we crossed to the other side of the castle to await our turn. When you enter the castle there is a very small room where you wait with the other families to take a picture with Cinderella. After the picture your family name is announced and you go up a winding staircase to the dining room.
I honestly don't remember what we had to eat, I know the first course was a plate of fruit , cheese and bread. When people say character meals aren't about the food they are right. I remember our lunch at the castle being really quite good, however you don't really get a chance to enjoy your meal because you are up every few minutes taking a picture and getting autographs. This of course is the point of the whole thing, but something I will keep in mind for future trips.
What I wouldn't give for a flat tummy like that.....
Ariel.... Avery was hoping for the "mermaid" look
All the princesses were sweet, but Belle was extra attentive. We girls did wonder why she didn't wear her yellow ball dress though??
Avery kept her eyes on "her" princess the whole meal. She couldn't stop asking is "Sleeping Beauty coming now??" Aurora spent several minutes admiring Avery's dress and indulging us in taking extra pictures.
Before the trip I had arranged several surprises for Ashton and Avery , including Pirate's League, Wishes Cruise (though it didn't turn out) as well as
gift baskets and a surprise each night when we came back to our room at night. I thought it would be nice to have something for the girls just from Robert, so I ask him before we left if he would like to order the Chocolate Slipper Dessert to be delivered to our table. The writing on the plate is hard to see but it says, "To my princesses, Love Daddy". It was a very sweet moment when it arrived and he read it to them. In case you are wondering it was really good and not as expensive as I thought it might be (around $15).
I made Robert the shirt he is wearing in the picture for after the girls had their BBB makeovers. It says "Princess Protection Program, Dad Security".
It's funny what he will wear for his "princesses"
!
The wishing ceremony. Avery looks so focused on her wish. She wouldn't tell me what she wished for but did ask me several times if it would really come true??
Another shot outside the castle, you can see Robert's shirt a little better.
After lunch Avery was ready to change clothes and then we headed over to tommorowland for a ride on the Speedway and Space Mountain. By this time it was around 3:00 and Robert ask if we were ready to go back to the BC.
I really would have been okay with it but we had missed the Parade and Wishes on Monday and we would not be back to the MK on this trip so this was our last shot. I told Robert to go ahead and go back, we would stay and come back after Wishes. I was glad he was going to have some time to himself and we girls could take our time and not worry about rushing. I sent him back with the stroller and all the BBB gear but forgot to grab the camera so the rest of the picture are taken with my cell phone. We stayed in tommorowland and went to Stitchs Great Escape (I think that is the name?)and the Carousal of Progress, which we all ended up loving (the second one , not the first one,we didn't think much of Stitch's ride. Then over to Mickey's Toontown to check out Minnie's house and ride Goofy's Barnstormer I then decided that we should grab dinner "to go" at Cosmic Ray's and go stake out our place for the parade and eat our dinner. It was very busy and by the time we got through the line I was getting worried that we were never going to get a seat for the parade. Sure enough, it was really tough to find an open spot, we searched and searched, I was carrying two drinks and my dinner and I was about to give up when I spotted one itsy-bitsy piece of concrete on Main Street. We planted ourselves on that spot, basically on top of each other, and did our best to eat our dinner (which turned out to be good, much better than Pecos Bill's). I had brought a tube of glow necklaces and Avery and Ashton handed those out to the kids around us, this was a great idea I learned on the disboards and it turned out to be a hit. We loved, loved , loved the parade. We were seated right on the curb and had a close-up view.
After the parade, we expected to stay put for Wishes but as we sat there I noticed many people heading towards the exit. There were so many people leaving that I started to worry that I had been mistaken about Wishes taking place that evening. I ask a cast member about it and he said that Wishes was still scheduled and he had no idea why so many people were leaving.
I was thrilled of course, more room for us. I told the girls that we were going to walk toward the castle and see how close we could get. We just kept walking and walking until we were right up front, very close. We sat down right on the ground as close as they would let us get, the weather had warmed up, I had my daughters next to me and a beautiful castle in front of me. Tinkerbell flew overhead, the music began and...
the fireworks started. It was well..... magical. It was the moment that I had hoped we would have when I planned the trip. It was one of those moments of just complete contentment and happiness. As it ended I had a few tears in my eyes as I gave my sweet daughters a hug and a kiss and told them how very much I loved them.
As we left to go to the bus I realized that with all of the extra things I had planned and paid for, the experience that I would most treasure from the whole trip was one that didn't cost anything extra and was unplanned.
We had a long wait for the bus back to the BC, but none of us cared. We stood in line for one hour and talked the whole time about our day and how much fun we'd had.
Loved: Wishes
Not so Much: Finding a place to sit for the parade
Do- Over: I would find a seat much, much earlier for the parade and enjoyed our yummy dinner from Cosmic Ray's. I also would have taken a taxi back to the BC at the end of the day.
Up Next: Free Day!!!
