I currently have the dessert party booked for Christmas Eve. I am seeing a lot of negative feedback. I am looking to hear what people have thought who have actually done the current dessert party? I keep going back and forth on keeping it. There is only 2 of us so it is not as expensive as a large family but still not cheap.

I'll be attending next Monday 12/1 and I'll be sure to post my experience. I'll subscribe to this so I can post the link to my review. I hope this helps!

We did it on first night it was available. To me, it's really borderline on the expense. We had 2 adults 2 kids and infant. The biggest hit for the kids was the open ice cream cart. Having a place to sit down, not crowded, and enjoy the lights is really nice. Being able to come/go is nice, to as you can take whatever you want with you. They have water/soda carts to take whatever you want.

Those are very subjective value. Don't do it for value of deserts eaten and drinks consumed and a mediocre pin. If you do it, you need to value about $50 a person on the general experience. We liked it and would do another VIP party again.

Thanks for the response. What is in the ice cream cart? I have been looking at the very limited pictures I have seen but I hadn't seen that. So far the only thing I will eat is the cupcakes (at least of what I have seen). I'm not necessarily concerned about "value" cause Disney isn't really a place for that lol. I am more concerned on if the experience is worth it. Because anyone can walk through the lights or get a fast pass for the sing along. One of the main reasons I am considering it is due to it being Christmas Eve. It's me and DH so no children (except for me at heart lol!). I keep seeing so many negative things that it is making me wonder if I am crazy for spending $200 on it(we are Canadian).

We are wavering too. I got my CC bill from the advance booking, and with the poor exchange rate + our large party of 9 people, it was quite an investment to go to the party. We don`t care one way or the other about frozen or the sing along, just looking for a way to enjoy the lights while minimizing the crowded experience on Christmas Day. Based on some of the reviews, I`m just not sure that the party will deliver for us, especially since the lights are best experienced by walking around, and the seating location doesn`t allow for watching them even be turned on, since we booked the late seating....

Think of the ice cream cart as the same as in the park, it's just all free. Mickey on a stick, some sort of frozen fruit bar, Mickey ice cream sandwich, and a couple other I think.

Sounds like we are in the same boat..I still can't decide but I may cancel and just buy some cupcakes lol!

Fwiw, we had reservations and I decided to cancel it the day before. When we actually went I didn't even see where the seating was set up! We went on an extra hours evening and got there around 8pm, it wasn't too crowded and we were free to roam around easily. I think we made the right call.

Official HS Frozen thread. Holiday Package photos included. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3296555

This Thread is over 200 pages long and offers very little advice from people who have actually attended. Frankly, at this point, that 'official' thread is effectively useless.

Way too many of the people complain about the event because it is either a.) expensive, or b.) a personal violation simply because Disney has dared to charge for a 'premium' experience. Countless complaints were written on the 'official' thread even before the Premium Package had ever happened.

Value of the Frozen Premium Package:
-- Pin & Litho - available on eBay for $50
-- Dessert Party - $30 (inside Magic Kingdom)
-- FP+ for Frozen Sing Along (worth something - $10)

There is $90 worth of value to many people.

Is this expensive for what you receive, YES.

But ya'know, plenty of people stay at Grand Floridian at a cost far in excess of thousands of other Disney hotel rooms and the Signature restaurants typically are completely booked on any night.

In other words, plenty of people who visit Disney are OK spending $90/person for a new experience and are not tied to a budget.

For the record, my family will not be spending the extra money for the Premium package.

On my way home from disney now after a week and we did the package ... I will post a full review in the other thread tomorrow but I will say this now on a very crowded week like we had it was so worth it. We got there when it opened do we had great view down the street with no crowds that made it soooo worth it .... I had a cranky five year old and giving her a place to sit and recharge was good ... I would recommend a crowded week like Christmas ....

The dessert party is at DHS, not MK (FYI). I'm not entirely sure why the Osborne Lights litho and generic Olaf pin would be worth $50, but that's beside the point.

I think a lot of the so-called negativity on the Frozen official thread stems from the fact that a lot of us did the Frozen premium package over the summer, which was cheaper and had more elements included.

I think the only times I would consider the package at DHS are on the busiest days of the year. The dessert area would be a nice place to take a break from the crowds. Though, with the two seatings during Christmas/New Year's week, I'm not sure how long you actually get access to the dessert party.

With a package such as this, parsing the elements for random financial value won't get you very far. If you want close-to the front seating for the singalong and a dessert party with a partial viewing (and not very crowded) area of Osborne Lights, then go for it. You almost have to forget how much you paid and just go into it ready to enjoy it or else you'll be doing mental tallies in your head of every drink, ice cream bar or Frozen cupcake you ingest that night.

we did it over the summer and we liked it but absolutely not a must do Honestly if it is offered when we go again we probably won't do it. Even though we enjoyed it and glad we did it, I wouldn't do it again for the money especially with the show being a FP option.

I think I'm in the minority when I say we liked it better then the tomorrowland desert party - which we did same trip. In the summer they had a cover band playing while you enjoyed the deserts and the drinks - more like a party then the tomorrowland party.

I'm glad these threads are here because it's helping me to go in to it with the right expectation. It's pricey for no characters, and I'm not sure how much booze they expect an adult to drink in Disney to make it worth it. But my kid loves Frozen, so Olaf on a stick it is.

I trade pins; $50 is not out of line for a Limited Release pin. Moreover, I located a published value for the pin & litho. That is called a market price since the item has traded at this price.

Similarly, I located a published value for a dessert party alternative which happens to be in MK. This too is a well established market price for a dessert party at Disney.

Also, when anyone pays for admission to a Disney Park, they may chose 3 FP+. I could have easily determined that Park admission ($90/day) divided by 3 FP+ gives a $30 value to a FP+, but I was far more conservative in my estimate of $10.

Frankly, there was absolutely nothing random about the values I used.

Thanks I have been following that thread but it has been mostly people being negative. And the photos didn't show an ice cream cart lol. That's why I wanted to see if anyone who has gone has any input :)

Yes, a park ice cream cart. There's also an Olaf ice cream now.

I ended up canceling ours, partly based on the reviews and the cost. I had also booked an Illuminations Cruise for NYE and that is costing my daughter her college savings ;) . I just couldn't justify both of them and I'd rather have prime fireworks seating on NYE.

The Dis Unplugged touched on this in a recent podcast - I think last week's episode. None of them have done it yet but their consensus was that it seemed unnecessary since everything offered can be done for free and relatively easily. Plus, they were puzzled as to what benefit the reserved area at Osborne Lights would be because you generally want to walk around and through the lights to see everything, rather than stay stationary.
