We have both options only 1.5 hour flight to Otlando. I know frontier flies to MCO. What do I need to know about this airline before we book. All 4 can get round trip for 300-350 which is cheaper than driving

CHeck cost of ground transportation for MCO vs SFB. It's usually (not always) higher at Sanford (SFB) where Allegiant flies to so factor that into the equation.

DME doesn't service sanford. Mears shared shuttle doesn't. Lynx works from MCO but not sanford. Taxi and car service is about twice the price. Only people willing to rent a car have a shot of paying a similar price for ground transportation.

I don't know what city you are flying from but typically they don't fly daily. So you could run into problems if your flight is cancelled. There have also been cases where they changed the days they are flying. So someone made reservations arriving Sunday, then got a notice from the airline that they are now flying Monday. There is no backup if there are problems - they will not put you on another airline.

I've flown both (when Allegiant did fly into MCO). They are equally unimpressive as far as airlines go lol. I consider them "budget airlines" but they do the job & get you from point A to point B for a great price. I would fly either one again without hesitation, their fares are low. I only fly with carry-on luggage so I can't comment on their fees for that. They only fly/flew from our airport a few days a week, so it was always a risk flying them in winter when filghts could be cancelled. We haven't had any issues so far & have a March trip booked on Frontier as well.

We've flown Allegiant several times. Very reliable and affordable. What you need to know:

-Boarding early is extra

-Checked and carry ons are extra. Prepay at time of booking.

-Beverage and snacks are extra. Buy a drink before, and carry on snacks.

-DO NOT use a debit card to pay, even though they offer a $4 per segment discount. You lose all CC protection.

-Very reliable and on time when we've flown, and we have always had friendly staff.

-Schedule is very limited. If it fits your schedule, then go for it!

-If you book your rental car with them as part of a package, there are usually significant discounts. Con - you pay for the car rental in full up front, and then the additional taxes when you pick it up from the rental.

-Sanford airport is much easier to get around and through than MCO, especially if with younger kids, but is a longer drive to get to Disney and other areas.

Ultimately it's up to you, that's just what we've experienced before.

Frontier has fewer of the extra fees than Alligant.

Have never flown either, but we're using Frontier from TTN next trip. Unless Jet Blue REALLY lowers their prices.

Love Frontier, and preferred them out of Denver vice United. They are a normal airline, with free beverage service and the like, who flies into/out of MCO. Great customer service.

They charge for bags on the lowest ticket fee Economy, but not the mid and higher tickets (Classic/Classic Plus). Usually, a Frontier ticket will have the option to buy up to Classic/Plus. In my opinion if you add up the costs for a checked bag and in-flight entertainment (IFE), it is about the same as upgrading, plus there would be no seat assignment fee nor change fee at the Classic level.

In the end, Frontier is a more established airline than Allegiant, I think.

I love Frontier and fly them almost exclusively. Their economy tickets are find but I usually get Classic or Classic Plus. The have lots of fare sales so you can get pretty good deals.
