Frontier no longer blocking middle seats

As of yesterday, Frontier is no longer blocking middle seats, effective immediately. I called because when I booked my flight for next week the middle seat was blocked. I was told that middle seats are now available for purchase and I confirmed that on their website. I asked for a refund since I only felt comfortable booking with the seats blocked but they refused. I know that's their normal policy but since they changed their policy (rather drastically/suddenly) I thought they would allow me to cancel. All they offered was a 90-day credit, which is pointless since I won't fly them if they aren't spacing people out.

I've been burned by Frontier before (2 cancelled flights, lost luggage, etc) but the cheap fares kept drawing me back. No more -- I'm at the point where I'm willing to pay more for better service and treatment. I fly Delta often but now they'll get all of my business.

I bought a ticket with them last week and it was posted all over their website that as of Sep 1 the middle seats would no longer be blocked.

Frontier is only selling bottled water so I actually feel safer flying with them than with Delta if they are still passing out drinks and food to everyone.

I bought my ticket 8/21 and it didn't say anything about the change. Not that long ago.

Delta Airlines are only offering individual bottles of wine or beer. Their free snacks which include a small bottle of water, are in a Zip lock bag and each passenger is offered one. We just flew August 18th and returned the 29th. Middle seats are blocked and masks are required. Felt safer on Delta than the local stores, etc.

I flew with them back in June and middle seats were not blocked, we were seated right next to people not in our party.

Length of exposure more than a point of exposure determines whether you contract the disease. Someone walking by in the aisle to use the restroom wouldn't be a problem but sitting next to someone for over 2 hours would.

Science is fun.

Knowledge is even better.
The Airbus completely exchanges cabin air every 2-3 minutes.

Even If we were offered free flights on Frontier, we would not fly with them. Their customer service is non-existent!

They also increased seat reservation prices. When we booked a few months ago for 3 people, we booked the window and aisle, and their "customer service" specifically told us not to worry about the third, they could use the blocked middle seat. Well I go look today, and that middle seat now is $60, where it was $35 before. I told them I would gladly pay for the third person to make things "right" and they said it was not an issue. I won't even try calling them, what a hellhole. Now I have to pay $60 for that middle seat or risk having someone else seated there.

FWIW we've only had good experiences with their customer service. I think all airlines have bad apples, but we haven't had any issues so far with Frontier and we fly them quite often.

I flew in mid August and United packed us in like sardines. They cancelled my original direct flights and put us on connecting flight in Chicago. The flight to Chicago was full. Very few of any empty seats if any.

Frontier's middle seat is 19 inches wide (which is actually big compared to others, including Delta). Look, I get it -- I'd rather not have someone in the middle either but let's not pretend that you're going to achieve social distancing if it's empty.

When everything goes to plan, Frontier does really well. When unexpected things happen, equipment issues, weather, pandemic, you can see where Frontier put all their eggs in one basket. They have no contingency for the unexpected.
