Frontier leaving BMI

Apparently it is on the frontier website that they are discontinuing service from Bloomington Illinois on October 4. I sure hope we hear something from the Bloomington airport soon on a replacement airline coming in

Shoot, that's my home airport.

Fortunately, we still have Allegiant. I flew on Allegiant in January to Orlando CHEAP. We just rented a car at the airport in Sanford. Sanford is easy to get around...I actually highly recommend this method of getting to Disney.

This is a bummer, although I don't know when we'll be going back after this year. We're flying out in 2 weeks, glad we're getting in under the wire.

First AirTran bails, and now Frontier. As was said, I hope a replacement airline comes in. May have to check out Allegiant for next time if not.

What??? I guess I will stop checking for them to release dates for January then! I prefer to fly into MCO so we can use DME, especially since we will be travelling with my parents this time. Looks like we may be driving to MDW, but such a shame when we only live about a mile from BMI! I wonder why they still show flights available to book from BMI to MCO through 11/13?

The blurb was on the low fare calendar above the month of October and I don't remember if it specifically said all services or Orlando ... my friend alerted it to me and I did see it. It is not there now.

The flights that still show are routed through Denver so I suppose its possible Frontier is staying in Bloomington but just doing their flights to Denver...and then one could connect. Too far out of the way for me.

Frontier just released dates thru December and had some awesome rates that lasted a minute. What the heck is going on? Staying or not? would love to know as BMI is our airport of choice :)

So, I wonder if Frontier changed their mind and decided to continue to fly from BMI to MCO for a while?

Don't worry Traveliz, I saw the same notice that you did. Maybe it said they were discontinuing all "direct" services from BMI to MCO and that is why all the flights now are routed through Denver. I had assumed when I read it that they were stopping all flights from BMI to MCO.

I don't know about the airport you guys are discussing, but I will say that frontier pulled out of both airports that were in driving distance for us. I got a great rate out of Greensboro for our trip this past March and was really disappointed when they left.

I am curious how long the drive was from Sanford to WDW.

So, I guess Southwest out or Midway is an option too.

It's about 45-50 min...way shorter than driving from Bloomington to Midway.

I've flown from BMI to MCO on Airtran (when we still had Airtran), and it was fine. But Allegiant to Sanford was about as easy as I could ever hope for. I wouldn't drive the 2+ hours and deal with Midway just to fly into MCO instead of Sanford.

My problem with Allegiant is the fact that there are all of two flights out a week...that is very limiting.

Thanks for the idea. I hate to have to budget a rental card too,

Only two flights a week? That is restricting!, And I won't have flexibility with my dates this time

That is why they can keep prices down,....duh.

I am thrilled. They are starting in Wilmington, DE in July and I go Sat. To Sat., so it works great for me.

It's also a huge problem if your flight is cancelled for whatever (or just any) reason. There are no other flights for them to put you on for a few days. In Bloomington I think they fly on Thursday or Sunday so if your Sunday flight gets cancelled then it's Thursday before your next chance to fly. If you have that flexibility then that is great for you.

My daughter works at Disney and just can't say oops my flight was cancelled and I can't make it back for another week so she only flies Delta (which does cost her more most of the time) and if a flight gets cancelled then there is another one in just a few hours.
