I woke up this morning to an email from Frontier, saying they cancelled our original flight in January and put us on an earlier flight. This is our flight home from Disney. Originally we were on a late flight out, and they've moved us up 8 hours to 2pm :crazy2:

I can't call them until I get home from work, so I was curious if this had happened to anyone before? I was trying to look at other options but there's no flights out that day after 2pm, and the late flights the days before/after are sold out, otherwise the trip could maybe move a few days. They have a flight the following morning that gets us home (or to our home airport) at 9am, which could work because DF needs to go to work that day. But it's 6hrs travel including a layover, and leaves MCO at 5am, so we would have to catch DME around 2am? So he would be up for around 10hrs before he even got to his desk. I don't want to pay for another hotel night that only gets us a crappy travel plan and him an 18hr day :headache: I plan to tell them that... I really don't want to stick with that 2pm flight, because this is our very first trip and we're only squeezing in a 4 day weekend to check out locations for our wedding next Fall.

Since they changed it quite a bit it's likely that your options include a full refund. With that in mind are there other airlines that have affordable flights in the right timeframe?

You're already doing the frontier research. Now do the other airline research and then call frontier with all of the info in mind.

I wouldn't do that because if that flight is delayed or cancelled, your DF may not make it to work on time.

This is the problem with the smaller airlines. I think they do it on purpose, reel you in and then change it last minute when you don't have many options. AirTran did that to me once.

Nobody "reels you on on purpose".
Things change with every airline, but it's not intentional at the time.

Delta did this to me..changed my flight to Orlando completely different Airport arriving an hour later nothing they could do no other flight so I dickered with them and got them to give me a late flight home which was more expensive and they did it for me no charge

:headache:Oh that's just such an awful thing to do but as someone already mentioned... it's unfortunately a risk with Any airline ( but seems to be more likely with smaller carriers)
I'd be well prepared when you call... if you can get that full refund and perhaps book elsewhere, I'd do it!

If you can't get the refund/and or you can't find another flight...
Try n make the very best of it.. it's really all you can do at that point.
Best of luck OP, let us know how it works out
Pixie dust ur way...

This happened to me! Boy was I mad at first. Not only did they change the time but moved the flight back a day. Was scheduled on a sunday abd changed to flying home on a monday. They did offer a refund but we decided to just stay an extra day and enjoy the parks. I get it thay flight times can change but don't think they should change so drastically. Just don't click the accept new route if you want a refund.

Hi everyone, just figured I'd update with what we ended up doing. We ended up going with the ridiculous travel plan the next morning. There were flights where we could have shuffled our trip back a day or two, but unfortunately it didn't work for DF to shuffle his vacation days. When I called Frontier, they said we could move our flight 72hrs forward or back for no charge, or receive a credit. I didn't clarify if they meant a credit with them, because if we had gone that route, I would have pushed for a refund. I did look at a Southwest flight that arrives at a similar time that morning, but is nonstop, but it was around $250 more and we'd planned on a budget trip because we're paying down our student loans... So we decided to suck it up and deal with it (though it's more DF who has to do that - I've got an extra vacation day I'd planned on using)

Yes, United did this to us once. Changed us from leaving (HHI) at 5:00pm to leaving at 8:00 am. I was furious! DH wouldn't let me call because my Irish temper would have exploded and we would probably have to walk home after I got done! Instead he called and sweet talked the clerk into at least changing our reservations to the next morning. That way we left HHI at the same time and got an airport hotel for the night (but the airline didn't pay anything. And one time American pulled out of the airport we were booked on and so we had to drive to another airport to get our flight. That time we got nothing-just a "Well, we didn't plan this".

You wouldn't have had to get angry and he didn't need to sweet talk. When airlines make that big of a change, they let you change it or cancel it.

With American I can't believe they wouldn't have let you cancel for a refund. Of course like the op if there are no flights on other airlines in the budget then that doesn't work.

Bumbershoot is right; no sweet talk needed. That's a significant flight change and all you needed to do was call the airline to be changed to another flight at no cost. Annoying, but having a temper tantrum solves nothing.

Assuming there is one. With Frontier here in Pittsburgh, they fly one flight in each direction 4 days a week (M-W-F-Sat). Because of that, I wouldn't consider them.

Oh, yes-we were changed to a flight early that same morning. DH was able to change it to the next day, so that we had the afternoon on HHI that we'd already made plans for (this change only took place a few weeks beforehand).
