Thanks to Shirley for this link...

I saw somebody in another thread asking if Michael Eisner was onboard. Apparently not since he wasn't quoted in this article, but Matt Ouimet was definitely onboard... at least at Key West for an official welcoming party by the city. They're really excited about having the Magic every other week.

Great article even if it does sound like the reporter copied directly from the press release.

Hello Dave - I wrote you an email to the fact of the local paper - Its so funny for once upon a time after it was glanced through - everyone would save their papers and donated to all the local fish houses to wrap our bait fishes such as mullets - from that day forward it is known to all the conchs as the "Mullet Wrapper".
The "Key West citizen" does have some interesting articles, events, etc - it is no longer owned by the original owner - he sold out and retired - its now owned by a Canadian firm - another history hits the dust - Anyhow it can be bookmarked and left for information and can even email the reporters to answer questions about "My town".
anyhow take care and will talk to you later.
Always
Shirley

Hi Dave, Roberta here!! The article is awesome especially that I will be on the ship in 6 weeks and going to Key West. We can't wait for this cruise. Wish you were joining Cam and Howard and Caroline and Mike and us.

We wish we were going to be there too, Roberta. We'd love to see all of you and share the fun you're going to have. Which excursions have you picked?

The Catamaran in Cozumel and we are going to beach it and shop in Grand Cayman on 7 Mile Beach maybe go to hell and Hop on and off the Trolley on our own and check out the sites and maybe have a cheesburger in Paradise in Key West!!!

This article is interesting in that we may have been on the cruise that made DCL decide to visit Key West on a regular basis.

The article mentions
Rockin' D Bar

I thought it was Rockin' Bar D :earseek:

Thanks for posting a link to the article.

UPDATE: I sent a couple of emails to the author of this article and he apologized for getting the name wrong. I also told him that the Disney Magic's hull is not black, but a VERY dark blue. He told me that it looked black to him. :)

WALTER:
We also went to Key West on our DISNEY MAGIC Cruise October 4-8, 1999 when Hurricane Floyd had blown Castaway Cay into the bay and uprooted the pylons they tie the ship to. When did you go?

We had a great time. Learned to snorkel on a Catamaran Fury excursion and walked around the town.

Didn't the second 7-day cruise end up at Key West? I remember that the weather turned nasty right after the inaugural 7-day Eastern Caribbean cruise and Captain Hans had to steer clear of the storms. I know that the 2nd 7-day cruise was called the "Magical Mystery Cruise" by some DISfolk after they returned and filed their trip reports.
