From WDW To DL With Love - January 06, 2011

Thanks for keeping up the weather reports. I'm copying them into a Word file so I can get to them more easily later.

Took my SIL (51y) to her first Dl visit yesterday. Just hit the highlights - didn't want to wear her out before the "real" vacation begins on Sunday.

I only have to fly to Florida and we'll rent a car in LA and drive home to Phoenix. Of course, there may be a night or two at Disneyland!

We are in AZ as well, but I think we are going to fly back from LA as well. But then I haven't old my DH that yet. He may change our mind.

Well, TGIF is what I have to say! Took the afternoon off and we are heading to Traverse City to see DH's heart doc. He has a leaky valve that they monitor so it is just his yearly check. Hopefully we get a free pass - forever would be nice but at least for another 20 or 30 years. Taking the dog with us and then heading to Pet Smart and will take him in to pick out a new toy - we have never done that before so it should be a real experience. I also want to go to Borders and get The Path Between the Seas and see if I can manage to get through it. We shall see - it may take me until this cruise gets here to get it read.

We had one a week before our November cruise and it was not good news. DS will be needing a valve transplant. He will have his first "temporary fix" surgery in February.

I will add that the cardiac surgeons are getting very good at these procedures AND there's nothing like a Disney Cruise to take the edge off the news!!!

I sure would like to. Last 2x my achilles tendon was bad BUT it seems to be coming around! I am no longer in pain every morning when I get up and I am back on my trusty treadmill!!!

I would love to have a running buddy or 2 or 10 on board!

I guess I'll set my sights on Goofy 2012 !

3 nights in Disneyland before flying home on the 24th. Gonna have to wait and see what my DVC points will get me there.

No running, no way, I don't do running. I'll walk until my legs fall off but I don't do running.

Gail and Izma, I will keep your loved ones in my prayers. I hope they both come back with a full bill of health!
For flights, we are doing Southwest because of the free bags, and we have never had a problem with them. I am originally from WA, and my family is still there, so post-cruise we are all going to meet up in DLR. DH also wants to go to Las Vegas for a couple days, but I am not sure we will be able to fit it in.
An 80 degree sea day sounds perfect! I would love to just sit out on deck four and people watch with a fruity drink as the water goes by.

Thank you for the pictures. I've been dreaming of doing this in Costa Rica. I have vertigo (why yes, I am a dizzy blond!) and I'm worried about overcoming that.

Do you know if there are age limits? I would love to do this w/ dc 8 & 7.

I am not sure if there was an age limit, I know that there was no one under 18 in our group. We did it through DCL so I'm sure it depends on their rules. We did have a cast member with us, though. The crew that took us said that we were one of the groups they didn't have anyone back out on them. Yes, you can back out in the middle but it would mean a long walk back to transportation as well as a possible long rappel to get to ground.

Thank you for your reply. I was worried it would get lost. For a vacation a year from now, we are a talkative bunch.

I have a rule against going backwards, so if we did this, there would be no backing out. It was very helpful seeing your pictures holes and all.

Would you do this again?

He did increase his blood pressure medicine (he was taking the weakest), told him he should loose about 60 pounds and said he would see us in a year! He listened to his heart and said he could hardly hear the murmur. YIPPEE! David and I could both stand to loose 60 pounds each so we shall see how that goes. Maybe I have found a walking buddy.

Well, we are off to the Amish grocery store - hope I can stay away from the baked goods!
