I really love this concept (and don't care which way the ship faces):goodvibes

All the graphic ideas people have posted are great, but I agree with Sylarr! This one is my favorite.

And it's been SO fascinating to see how different people see the same thing differently. It never occurred to me to "stand" on the North America side of the canal and look South, in which case it would be going the other direction! I just mentally tried that while looking at this image and it's so funny to perceive the ship going in the "wrong" direction!

I guess that's why there's Chocolate, Vanilla and Strawberry (Not to mention my personal favorite, Pralines 'n Cream!).

I love the idea of contributing to having a lanyard (or something similar) made, as it would be so much easier for me, as Lynne above has said, it would just cost far too much for us to bring gifts over from the UK for such a large group

As I suggested to Orlandothebeagle, the key is to join a group so you don't have to! Gotta do FE's. I can't describe how much fun it is to come home to your stateroom and find a surprise every day! And to sneak around trying to put the gifts in the FEs without getting caught (at least I thought it was more fun that way.)

There's NO reason anyone should have to miss out on doing FEs. It's just SO much fun!
I must respecfully disagree. I still have two cruises to pay for, have to make sure that DVC stays current, and have to make sure I can pay rent and eat. I understand the coolness of having a gift or two when you come back to the room. It just is not viable for us. Not that it would not be fun, but I rather use the money for FE gifts to add to my pin collection, or more for my bar bill. So those are MY reasons not to do it and I think they are justified.

Jeff about died at my reaction to the castle at Disneyland. I kept asking where's the castle, where is it as we walked into DL. When I finally saw it I said that's it? seriously?:confused3:confused3:confused3
To be fair to DL, we're locals to WDW and had seen DLP before going to DL. The castle at DLP puts both castles at DL and WDW to shame...

This makes me very excited! We're going to DLP in about 3 weeks for the first time. I can't wait to see a castle that puts Cinderella's castle to shame!! Woo HOO!

Absolutely! ANY reason is justified. Like I said about the different views of the direction of the ship, there's a reason for Chocolate, Vanilla and Strawberry! (and of course, P 'n C!). I just meant that no one who wanted to participate should miss out because they couldn't bring the stuff with them from afar.

And regarding cost, I completely agree, people may have better use for the $$ they would spend on FE gifts. But I DO have to say that it doesn't have to cost much, especially if you do it with a group. I think our group ended up spending something like $20 each for our gifts. And we got WAY more than $20 worth of "loot" in return. But if you don't value "loot" it's not worth it at any price! To each his own!

I was thinking, why vote on just one. I think people should just come up with their graphics and people should just use what they like if no one objects. I know I can't decide on just one, and most of them are not even done.

I agree that it's going to be really hard to choose, and I really hope all the artists will make their work available for all of us to use on door signs, etc. because I personally want to use them ALL!

But having said that, I think it's a good idea to vote on one "official" logo to use for nametags, t-shirts, etc for the group because it makes us instantly recognizable to each other. There will be lots of groups (family reunions, etc) on the cruise and they will all be wearing "their" logos. It's really cool to be able to tell from a distance that someone is with "our" group because they're wearing our "official" logo.

The logo from the WB Repo still catches my eye when I see it anywhere here on the boards and I instantly feel a bond with the poster, even if we never met on the cruise. It just adds to the camaraderie.

Love the logos ... and I agree with Tracy -- it is so nice to have an identifiable graphic.

When we "close" the design contest and start voting, we'll probably go through several rounds/face-offs -- there are so many good ones.

This weekend is friends and family; cleaning; and I want to het back into workout mode. :cheer2:

Just wanted to say thank you as I am in the intermission for Toy Story 1&2. I am sorry if I came off harsh. I did not want to get underneth anyones skin. I have a reason for not doing FE. Not because I don't like you guys,I do, just I need to proritize. I want to make sure I go 3 for 3 for DCL westbound Panama crusies. I look forward to sailing with you all, fun in Wavebands at night, and maybe some after hours fun at the drink station.

Here is what I have so far. Not exactly as I pictured, I'm not that great at photo editing. It is suppose to be the Wonder going through the PC lock with Disney World on left lock and Disneyland on right. I need to work on it a little bit more.

Very smart also

Yes, I done it last time, its a bit christmasy

I also agree, for me the pressure of just getting everything in one case and on wt was pressure, in the end, I made tiny little scottish parcels and hung them on all the doors, but I did not receive anything back, as I wished, cause no space in my suitcase, the pleasure was in the giving for me and if my case and stress levels can manage I will do the same again, The point is I can do it if I want to and have time not cause I have to on top of another zillion things to do before hols.

That's why it's a good idea to do FE groups! You could be in a group with some folks who don't have to bring the stuff so far (maybe Floridians) and you can just contribute money toward the purchase. Then everyone helps distribute the items. As far as bringing it home, a lot of it turns out to be edible and/or really tiny stuff that you can stuff into cracks of space like inside shoes.

There's NO reason anyone should have to miss out on doing FEs. It's just SO much fun!

I agree that NO ONE should feel obligated in any way to do FE gifts. It is and always should be a person's individual choice. That is what makes it so fun. We have given gifts by ourselves and as part of a group (08 WB PC). I really like the idea of groups for so many reasons.

1. You could do a little more for less money.
2. Those from across the ponds can participate without having to worry about transporting (If you are worried that something you get won't fit in the suitcase going home give it to a CM. They love it.)
3. You can split up the decks so that no one person has to worry about doing all of them.

I happened to head the group that gave out Dry Wipe Boards on the 2008 WB PC. It was a really nice gift that we couldn't have afforded if there wasn't a group to help pay for it. We had Disers from all over the country and across the pond participating. Since I was close to where we had them made, I picked them up and took them to the ship but he would have shipped them anywhere. The night we gave them out we all met in Diversions to add clips and pens and then divided the ship into decks. We were all done in about a half hour.

Some were a part of a group and did individual gifts also and some just did individual gifts and some chose not to participate (a lot of us still included them in our gifts) it was all in what THEY wanted to do.

Sorry about being so long winded but it is just an idea to allow EVERYONE WHO WANTS TO to participate without having to worry about cost or transporting.

Our internet and cable was down all night. SO I couldn't search for new graphics but did have time to play. DD is up and about all ready this morning so I'll have to catch up on the thread later.

This looks great. Outlining the lock gates and removing the sky behind the castles really makes a difference. Now it doesn't just look like pictures stuck together (to me) and you can really tell what's going on.

AGREE! Now the concept is clearer. :thumbsup2

Keep the ideas and the 'tweekings' coming. We are going to have such a hard time deciding.

I'm off to check movie times. I'm so far behind in movie watching, and I want to hit the $5 'first showing' at AMC this morning. Think I'll due Julie and Julia or UP.

I really like this one!! I have such trouble coming up with ideas!

I just now saw that what I thought was the most recent post was yesterdays :confused3. Everyone is right, the ideas are ALL great!

Wow! I like that even better with the grey doors and no sky!

Will the gentleman creating the website please pm me?

Enjoy and I will try and not be jealous. One day, however.

Tracy, be sure to take lots of pictures at DLP!

Tracy and Lisa, glad we hooked up on FB. As time allows have Alison and Elizabeth check out the thread Carly started for teens. It's the first time she's taken interest in anything like this so, being a mom, I want it to work for her.

If you're going to be at the World Oct. 16-23 PM me if you're interested in having a quick meet.
