Here's my thought for a tagline for the 2011 PC Repo:

From Sunshine To Gold, Bringing Home the Wonder.

Florida is the "sunshine state", California is the "golden state".

What I would like to do is do an old-style 1920s type art deco illustration to go with this, but I'd have to teach myself some techniques in order to pull it off successfully.

I do like the steamboat willy concept though, especially of the Wonder was converted to a similar style (thick ink outline, few colors, "flexible tube" stacks puffing out smoke ala steamboat, etc.") :thumbsup2

As the cruise is over a year away, perhaps we should take our time with this?

My vote for best characyer breakfast is Goofy's Kitchen at the DLH...we ALWAYS go there once per DL trip, it's part of our ritual now.

And if you have the points for a GCV stay, I'd highly recomend it...we just got back, and the CA view rooms are nothing short of magical:

COOL:thumbsup2

Hi everyone! I was reading some of the first posts on here and a few people said they got their ressies on CC from an IC that they faxed back in June? What is an IC?

We're going to stay at DL afterwards too. My Mom hasn't been to DL since I was 6 months old, at cruising that would be 32 years. Jack hasn't never been either. We'll probably get a room at the GC for the weekend.

We go to the Blue Bayou and split a meal - for a $5 plate charge. It's usually enough to eat and makes the meal more affordable. Problem is getting everyone at a table together. Another suggestion - involves leaving the park - dinner at Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) Grill at Paradise Pier. They have a cup of soup & half salad deal for $8.49 - waaaaaay too much to eat. The Cobb salad is delish!

We'll be at Disneyland the 8th-10th of November - so might see you. Happy Birthday!
Shirley

Ooh, that sounds like lots of fun! Are you going to the outlet mall in Cabazon, near Palm Springs? I love that one!!

How about breakfast over at paradise pier at lilo and stitch. I like it over there. You can do the buffet or order off the menu for a more reasonable price. Love Storytellers, however. Happy planning.
:yay::yay:

Hey iBounce -- have you looked at the Plaza Inn?

Locationwise it matches up to the Crystal Palace and their character breakfasts are yummy!

Another dinner option is Cafe Orleans -- and you can reserve a large table outside.

We loved breakfast at both Storytellers and Paradise Pier. And Minnie Mouse even recognized DD when we were at PP in August, from the EBPC cruise the year before. (She gave the sign, if you know what I mean.)

I don't remember if you can ADR it, buth Cafe Orleans has a good (but small) menu, it's in the DL park, and it's reasonably priced. We had a party of 9, and they were able to accomodate us. They have the same Monte Cristo sandwich that BB has (for a lower price), and they also have Pom Frites (garlic and parmesian fried potatoes), which I love..along with salmon dishes, french onion soup, and other goodies.

If you want something more formal, the hotel resturants are usually pretty good. We recently tried Steakhouse 66 at the DLH, and it was really good (but expensive)!

Thanks for all the input! Cafe Orleans would be my choice for in-park dining, I think. I don't remember if they do ADRs there or not. If not, I'll just do a stroll by about an hour before we'd want to eat and see if they'll be able to handle our group. Out of park may end up being more likely, as I think some California friends might be meeting us and won't necessarily have park admission. Thanks about reminding me of PCH grill as an option for that.

Breakfast...probably not PPier...I have a Stich aversion! Storytellers is one of my favorite spots.

RRBB....do you mean the "eye, nose, you" sign? I remember Minnie Mouse doing that to you in Liberty Tree Tavern back in '04! :lmao:

Yes, the Cabazon mall. :thumbsup2

ok...lunch break over...back to work!

Hi everyone! I was reading some of the first posts on here and a few people said they got their ressies on CC from an IC that they faxed back in June? What is an IC?

IC is inventory control. You can fax them ahead of booking times to request a certain room or whatever. Sometimes they come through.

IC is Inventory Control. Some of us, myself included, faxed stateroom requests to DCL before the date of this cruise was even announced. 2 days before booking opened on the 21st, I checked my Castaway Club site and I was booked!

Thanks for the quick responses. We just booked two days ago and I'm so excited. We transferred out of the WB transatlantic to do this cruise. I always wanted to do the PC cruise as I heard about the canal since I was small because my grandfather worked down there when they were building it and my Mom lived down there when she was young before she was sent back to NY to go to school.
It will be me(Joan) and DH(Bill). Can't wait!!! :cheer2:

Welcome aboard, Joan! We're glad to have you and Bill join us. Please PM me your stateroom # and whether you are main dining or late and I'll add you to post#1.

Denise or anyone one else from this lively group,
I my self will be at WDW from 10/14-10/17. On 10/17 we get on the Magic for a Western, then when we get back on 10/24 we are staying club level at AKL in the very small DVC part of that level till 10/29. Maybe we will run into one another. As for the direction thing, I say this, the point is DCL calls this a westbound cruise. The whole point is to bring the ship out west to her new home. So in my eyes anything that has the ship in it should be faceing the way Robin had it. True you do head a little, and I do mean a little southeast, but truth be told it is more like south southeast according to the maps. At DLR they do take ADR for Cafe Orleans do go ahead a make a reservaton. If I know I am going there I always do. Also you may want to try the new new Big Thunder Ranch all you can eat BBQ. I have not done it yet but it sounds good. Maybe someone else here can provide more details.

Here is what I have so far. Not exactly as I pictured, I'm not that great at photo editing. It is suppose to be the Wonder going through the PC lock with Disney World on left lock and Disneyland on right. I need to work on it a little bit more.

I like it. Only thing I would change is the castles. As I mentioned in a previous post, I would like to see Spaceship Earth on one side, and the Matterhorn on the other side, as these two things are property specific. You can find clones of the castles.

I was trying to find something else, like the entrance sign to WDW. But I really liked the photo with the statue of Walt and Mickey...kinda looks Walt is waving goodbye to the Wonder. Are there any statues at Disneyland? I can't remember from my one visit there.

I'll probably be playing around with it for another week so if anyone else has any more suggestions please let me know.

Good to know...I did just find out that some of the Calif friends do have APs, so in park dining should work. I'll pop over to the DLR forums and see what's going on...and check out Big Thunder Ranch.

That exact statue is also at Disneyland (in front of Sleeping Beauty's castle, in the "circle" area at the end of main street).

That statue is at Disneyland as well. I have heard it is in every Maguc Kingdom, but I do not know it is true. I get what you are saying about Walt waving goodby to the Wonder. I always joke it is more like Walt pointing out to Mickey all the people how have come to speend thousands of dollars to visit. Or even worse, if you look at that statue from the point of view of facing Tomorrowland you would be shocked as to what you might see. A friend of mine who works at Disneyland showed it to me one day. I was in a little shock. As this is family orented I can't move on with this.

Yes, I know what you are referring to, I have a friend who used to work at Disney World and he made me aware of the "view".

I guess I need to pay more attention at DL this time around. I was probably to shocked at the size of (or lack there of) the castle.

I love all of the designs people are submitting so far, it is going to be so hard to vote! I was wondering though, I personally would love to put some of these on magnets for my door decoration, so I was wondering if any of the creators have objection to this? Is this a total "no-no" or is it okay to do this if no one specifically says to not use their design?

Yes, very shocking. Oh well. I always have this little smirk on my face when I see that statue. Anyway. There is a reason why our castle is is small. I have been told, not sure how true but it was an imaginer, the reason was zoneing issues. The same reason there is a basketball hoop in the Matterhorn.

Jeff about died at my reaction to the castle at Disneyland. I kept asking where's the castle, where is it as we walked into DL. When I finally saw it I said that's it? seriously?:confused3:confused3:confused3
To be fair to DL, we're locals to WDW and had seen DLP before going to DL. The castle at DLP puts both castles at DL and WDW to shame...
