For anyone else considering using DVC points, here are several of the point breakdowns I received from DVC this morning. We're booked cash right now, but considering switching over. My wife and I are travelling with our 3 year old and 2 year old so I'm breaking it down per person

Cat 11A Inside Stateroom
Adult 1&2 325 each
Child 207
Infant 115

Cat 9D Oceanview Stateroom
Adult 1&2 398 each
Child 223
Infant 123

Cat 6A Verandah Stateroom
Adult 1&2 534 each
Child 257
Infant 140

When I consider the amount I paid per point 4 years ago plus our annual dues, it is cheaper for us to go this way, but like someone mentioned previously, I could rent the points for $8-9 which would be smarter to do. I just really do not want to deal with having to rent out points.

Thanks for posting this point information. I know several people were wishing they knew this info for booking purposes.

WELCOME poohs4me! We're sp glad to have you sailing with us! When you get time, please PM me your info, stateroom # if you have it, names, ages of any children traveling with you, and main or late dining and I'll add you to the list on post #1.

aan1701,

Thanks for posting those pics! It really makes me glad I signed up despite DH Steve's complaining about the cost. Of course, he didn't complain much when I told him I'd hate to go without it but it could be done!;)

By the way, has anyone bought trip insurance yet? If so, who did you go with. I started looking at the prices and am shocked at how high they are.

Steve and I always get the trip insurance because his DM is 90 and you never know when we'll have to come back in a hurry.

Here's my cost breakdown:

this is for a cat5C #6046
Adult 1 fare: $3,393.00
Adult 2 fare: 3,393.00
Insurance: 338.00
Ground transfer: 130.00
Resort pre Hyatt 215.00
Taxes and fees: 368.36

Total: $7,837.36

Keep in mind this is with the 10% discount for booking onboard our last cruise.

I hope this helps our fellow cruisers who will be booking on Monday. Good luck to you!

I just bought from "Insuremytrip". It was no higher than I paid for the two back to back 7 day cruises this year. Better safe than sorry.

We used points for the adults and paid cash for our children. If we would have had enough points to use/borrow, we would have paid for at least one of the kids this way too. As it is we're pretty much maxed out until 2012 now. :lmao:

Cat 5A (Deck 7 Verananda Stateroom)
Adult 591 points/each
Child (6yo at sailing) 259 points
Child (3yo at sailing) 257 points

If you don't see the category you're looking for, you can calculate a rough estimate as $7 per point.

I went to insuremystrip and the price was around $750 for the two of us :confused3 What am I doing wrong?

What trip price did you put in? And did you put it in per person or per trip?

I did a check for me and got quotes ranging from $180ish - $540ish and possibly upwards (I stopped looking at that point!)

I have used Travelex from there for my past two trips and they were coming out at around $250ish (2a 2k using a total trip cost of $8000).

I just got the Disney insurance. It is 338 for the two of us. Works for me. No shoping needed.

I believe that the Disney insurance does not cover pre-existing conditions and is only purchased upon final payment. You probably could get a cheaper price than that, however if the DCL insurance works for you, go for it. I must admit it certainly is the easy option :goodvibes

For us that works out to be $676 and we can be covered (with better coverage) for around $250 for a family of 4. That is a lot of bahama mama's :woohoo:

Steve and I got insurance, as you can see from my previous post for $338 for the 2 of us. I would much prefer to get a "no exclusions" policy but will have to check Travelex and Insuremytrip.

I just went through Insuremytrip and got travelex for around 250 for two of us. I only insured the cruise portion and not the airfare.

I knew the DVC points would be high. Still, your points to do with as you please. No one has the right to tell you what to do with your points. Our DVC is for WDW. Working for an airline, and being able to go almost when ever I want, it works best for us that way. So to those who booked with points I say, good job, glad you had enough and I look forward to some great night in Wavebands.

Hi all. Waiting 'patiently' and hopefully for Monday!!!:headache:

hey.....you have photos from Tortola yet? I'm anxious to see all the ones folks will share. Peg just posted some on facebook.

Thanks for not flaming. I totally agree about the fact that no one has the right but you know how that can go sometimes :rotfl:. Our upcoming B2B is also booked on points.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend all. Good luck to those of you trying to snag a ressie on Monday, persistence and patience will be the theme for the day.

I wish I had enough DVC points for both of us, but we always seem to be in a constant state of borrowing, even after our add-ons. I guess I need to quit taking all my extended family. Plus I'll need all I can spare for our 2012 Ko'Olina trip.

I am way to worried about point totals for that place. I will see it on the rumored 2012 round trip from L.A. HI cruises.
