From WDW to DL With Love - January 06, 2011 part 5

Ok SO I wanted to just share a story fast with people who might appreciate my doing things at the last minute, and having something magical happen when you least expect it.

5 years ago just before I went on my first Disney Cruise I was told by that I should bring my tux for formal night. While, my tux was in Minnesota (I was working at disney), so I asked for it to be sent to me, but I happened upon a formal wear store and I found a Joseph Abboud tux that I fell in love with. So I ended up purchasing it and got rid of the old tux that I bought used. Super excited that I owned a brand new tux I wore it plenty of times for formal nights and it came in handy to be honest. Well, since the last time I had to wear it I've "grown" and I just tried it on again this last weekend. While I immediately went to have the pants let out (will be back on monday) but I discovered the jacket just isn't going to fit. Now this really sucks as it can't be let out and it was obvious it was tight on me. So since I'm in love with this tux I went to see how much it would be to replace, and the tux rental places that carry the brand said it'd take a month to get just a new jacket and they don't have used ones to purchase. So I went to Nordstrom's and it was $750 for a new one. Hearfallen I wasn't sure what I was going to do...

As I had a groupon to Nordstrom Rack for $50 I decided to stop in on my way out of the mall. I noticed in the back of the store they have suits. SO I meander back and take a look in the area that has my (new) size and i'm just looking and I see at the VERY end of the row...a tux. And I open the jacket and It's a Joseph Abboud Tux...IN MY SIZE! Exactly like the one I needed to replace, and it was half off (rack price) and then Half off again (on sale) plus my $50 groupon...I got a brand new tux for $99!!!! I'm excited for formal nights again!
That's awesome!! I'm so glad you found what you needed. My sis had that same Groupon and discovered that it expired today so she zoomed over there yesterday to use it...she said everyone there was cashing theirs in:lmao:
I think I remember reading that on the trans-atlantic cruises they were still $399.95 so I thought ours may be the same too. Can anyone who's done one of those confirm please?

I'm so weird about this...I really like the borders DCL puts around the photos, so I buy the photo package (which you can find on the website) so that I can get the individual photos since the CD doesn't include the borders. I know, CRAZY!!!
Good morning everybody, :grouphug:

Hogmany today in Scotland, got work in a few hours, working till sunday am then Holidays are coming.......
Ohhhh...another cool word! What does "Hogmany" mean??
ROOM TOUR UPDATE
How it works: Cruisers volunteer to let others visit their cabin and see what the different categories are like. So, on a sea day, at an established time, (final time set after other event times are published) starting on the lowest deck, we visit the different categories of cabins. It is great fun to parade down the halls meeting each other and getting a real look at those rooms we all take only a quick peek into as we pass an open door. Additionally, it allows us to share cabin living ideas.
Update: In an attempt to manage the length of the tour and allow those opening their cabins to visit the other rooms, we are going to assign a scheduled time when each deck will be visited. Here is the breakdown of the number of rooms currently on each deck and time we will allocate on the deck. Once we hear from DCL regarding the tastings and other events scheduled we will select a time and date for the tour, most likely around 3:00 a sea day. In addition to posting the information hear, (if I hear from DCL before we all leave) I will have the room schedule and tour times available in my FE outside room 6572.
Many thanks to the people who have generously offered their room on the tour.

Adding the room tour as a separate page would be great. As my PM you said, will let you know after/if we hear from DCL about the schedule for other events and will post on my white board outside room 6572.

Thanks again for everything. val

This was just sent to landside concierge. Guess we'll see....

"Eric and company,

I know that I've been a pain about this, but this is really starting
to get ridiculous. Initially we were told November and now we're
being told we might not even know by the time we get on board?
Really, all we're looking for is a room, some wine glasses and a
corkscrew. (And at least some idea on a group discount on corkage
fees if possible).

Do you guys have any other way of trying to get this resolved other
then asking Dorothy (Who I'm fairly certain is just about ready to
kill someone herself if she was able to get to them)?

Everything else has been amazingly simple, responses from the Spa and
other stuff when we've needed to get word from the ship have been
timely, accurate and exceedingly accommodating, but for some reason
this department on the ship seems to be an absolute mess.

Thanks."

Very good letter and I hope you get a result!

I am fine staying in the mixology and champagne girls...My thoughts on the meet and greet are just pick a location and we will open our own bottles and bring glasses! I am not a big fam of what they charge to uncork a bottle of wine to begin with :)

Thank you to everyone who has worked so hard to make this cruise so wonderful - I appreciate everyone's work!

We're flexible so this works for us too.

Thanks to all working so hard to pull these events together!!!

Our shuttle arrives to pick us up for the airport in 24 hours.
Let's see, that should be enough time to do laundry, pack, help one client with a crisis situation. Build some new functionality into an application for another client. Prepay bills. Do a grocery run for mom. Do all the other last minute stuff one needs to do before leaving for 3 weeks.......

I really need a vacation..... :cool2:

P.S. to self: Never, never, never, never, never, never laugh at those who are completely packed for a cruise six months ahead of time.

Started packing the suitcase and i wasn't expecting to fill it myself but uh oh! Cruises are hard to pack for! =)

I can't believe we're just days away from sailing now. Safe travels to those on their way or about to leave. We don't head out until Wednesday, which is good. Although I have suitcases out and lots of stuff on the bed next to them, I haven't really started packing yet. I'm hoping MIL will take kids for a good bit of the day tomorrow so I can get us all packed up though. (DH will be out of the house bright and early since they've already started doing inventory at his office.)

Today the kids and I have just been hanging out, reserving our energy for parties tonight. I've taken the opportunity to work on door magnets and sorting postcards for the exchange.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!

Or after the first nights show we can send the kids out to find glasses people leave outside the showroom and pay them 5 cents a piece for them.
:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I LOVE this group!!! I can't wait to meet all of you in person.

We leave on Wed....safe travels to everyone.

:rotfl2: I 3/4 packed a suitcase about a month ago and I have forgotten what i packed so I will have to have a bit of a root through.

Gail, we have never dressed for pirates night. No one seems to care. We’ve put on the bandandas given but that’s it. Right now we are in palos for that night so it is even less important, but I don’t worry about what I wear – I do formal and dressy, other than that, nope. Just don’t have room to pack pirates and Mexican and such!

Val or Bob, will the list of rooms be printed out for us to have then or do we need to bring it with us? Also, please if you do reprint or repost add my DH – Alan – to the names. Thanks

Melissa, wow! Thanks! Any way we can get to it to print out before Thursday? I will actually have to pay Disney for printing as it is for it, since we leave tomorrow but I’m not buying internet on the boat. Thanks! Thanks for all your hard work on this!

Good news, it looks like we have the Cadillac Lounge on the 8th from 1:30-3:00 for the Wine M&G. Still hashing out the last bit of details, but at least something came back.

That is great news! Now maybe the ladies will get their responses.

I have a question - got so excited about Jeff's post I have not been to page one yet so forgive me but has anyone heard about internet charges??? I really need to check my personal email but only two or three times while we are gone.

I will have the list of rooms on one of the front pages of the program so you won't need to print it as a separate document. I created it in "publisher" so you should be able to print it as a booklet which will automatically print the pages in the correct order. The goal for this thing was to make it a "One stop shop," so if there is ANYTHING that ANYONE wants added, speak now or forever hold your peace:)
I will send it to Jeff today so you will be able to print it from the website whenever he is able to get it posted...Sorry Jeff, I hate it that you have to do more work. You have already done so much!

This has been added to the program:goodvibes

Oh yeah, one more thing...for the person willing to lead a Yoga group, could I put 8am on the "secret" deck 7 for all sea days? Runners, should I have an 8am meeting for you on deck 4 "starboard"? Is 8 too early?

Safe travels everyone! I'm still in Nor Cal so I have to get home and THEN start the packing and De-Christmasing:scared1:

If you aren't on this list at all, please e-mail me with first/last names, stateroom and # of bottles you are bringing. If you are on the list and can't make it at 1:30 on the first sea day, let me know.

There is no charge from the cruise line for this event, however I will be paying the corkage fee and for wine and cheese platters. I'd *appreciate* if people kicked back $10 pp but if you really can't let me know and we'll do what we can. If it turns out that we manage to keep some of the bottles off the bill, I'll figure out how to resolve the balance if I end up positive.

I dont know .lol.

On the WBTA we did the Champagne Girls in a suite. The host just called room service and they delivered racks of glasses - now it did take a while for them to get there and I justed washed glasses to reuse until they came. I am not suggesting we use your room only that you can ask for a rack of them.

Or after the first nights show we can send the kids out to find glasses people leave outside the showroom and pay them 5 cents a piece for them.

I asked for lots of glasses for the room tour and got them no probs.

That sounds great. We are looking forward to it and really, really, really appreciate all that you've done to "make it happen"

Can someone please explain about what to do if we dont have the location for the Champagne Girls by the end of the weekend? Is there a particular room where the update will be posted so I know the date/time/place? Or will there just be a ticket waiting for me in my room with the info on it? We leave for FL very early Monday and wont have Internet access after that. I cant believe DCL is so disorganized on this, so frustrating for all of us planners!
