So is that how the older kids feel when a new sister is born? I really feel sorry for all those Wonder crew who have worked twice as hard doing turnarounds, but -- yup, now Wonder will be the bright star in the west.
And about Wonder looking tired and worn on the edges (who wrote about that? Sorta true): We realized on a previous cruise that it's just hard for the hotel officers to spot all those things. They really rely on notes in the critiques at cruise's end. On Magic last year, we had a badly overworked bed. I told our room attendant that "It should be replaced at the end of the cruise when you go into the shipyard; a bed like this doesn't belong on a Disney ship." That afternoon we had a new matress.
On Wonder, our air conditioner was useless. Engineers were back three times before getting it right, but they kept working on it. Our attendant's supervisor came by one evening to ask how the room was (I thought he wanted the details, but he was actually checking on Steward Troy, who is excellence in motion -- work always done perfectly and before we ever got back). Before I found out, I'd told him about the closet door rolling open in the seaway, sprung drawers, and worn-out cushions and torn upholstery on the setee. Next day: seat reupholstered and cushions repillowed! Artificers straightening the cabinetry and fixing door catches!. They just need to know. Those wonderful room attendants serve so many guests each cruise they don't have time to "sit-test" mashed matresses or seats.
Valerie really appreciates your thank-yous. You have no idea how hard she worked to fix the Mixology scheduling after the
DCL office changed it twice

in the three days before departure, or not backing down until guest services slashed charges for dozens of people ($18

instead of the twice-confirmed $5) on an event. Then again, if she hadn't organized an excursion to the national park in Costa Rica, I wouldn't have seen all those different monkeys, birds, sloth species and heliconia blooms plus have lunch in a country cantina! We had a great time, and she enjoyed making things work.
So I'm saying a big Thank you to

Valerie, who made my cruise so wonderful!
