From WDW to DL With Love - January 06, 2011 part 5

oh gosh i agree with alan - man they were never out of our hands. though i hated that thhey didnt ring, only vibrated (or did we never figure them out). they saved us a ton of time finding each other, just a ton! and i protected them like i do my own phones - they were easy NOT to lose!

No, if they break they fix. so i know somone who went to guest services and they just replaced them with no problem.

I found it annoying to tip the head server for the room. My guys at the table - i gave extra to as they were outstanding.

can we do this cruise again? tomorrow? get me out of the snow NOW!!

I have never tipped a head waiter before and this was my 8th cruise. Harry was the best head waiter we ever had. Our Asst server was awful. I cut his tip in half because he only did half his job. The head waiter did the other part and made sure we were satisfied.

I nearly peed myself at alfred and seymor...

The Capt henry bit was just SO funny, I smiled EVERY time I heard him after that, seems they done a crew only show after midnight and it was even worse/better if you know what i mean.

DH and I have joined the ranks of the ill although I would be more inclined to think our issue have to do with flying with 400 of our closes friends. With the weekend coming and lots of rest I hope we are back to normal by the first of the week.

Get better everyone!

Our very first cruise we never even met our head server and didn't know what he/she was even there for. Ever since though, we've made a point to get to know him/her. This cruise our head (Carina) went out of her way to do/get some special things for us so we tipped her nicely (and gave her a pin too, the one someone is selling on ebay ;).)

I hope everyone with the crud feels better soon. Luckily none of us have turned up sick, though DD's nose is gross from allergies. (She was totally clear on the ship, but as soon as we hit land it started, well...)

I can't say we're all healthy though. DH did a number on his toe the first week of the cruise, while chasing down the kids. He even went to the medical center onboard about it. They told him it was just badly bruised. But DH went to the pediatrist when we got home and not only is his toe broken, a piece of the bone even chipped off. :scared1: Now if we can just keep the kids away from his feet it should heal fine (ie. no need for surgery.)

Ouch for your DH. It's a shame they didn't catch that in the medical center, but they would have just taped them together and charged you a fortune for doing it since you have to pay them everything up front and then submit it to your insurance when you get home for reimbursement.

Can someone tell me what the results of the scavenger hunt were? We thought we were walking by the correct cabins but we never saw the results.

Yes, they would have charged you $217 total and taped them together. DD broke 2 toes on the 2nd to last night at the Homecoming Ball in The Edge. :rolleyes1

Loved the phones also!! And I agree Alan - texting was a pain. Cousins lost one of theirs mid cruise but it showed back up again. Whew.

Sorry so many are sick!!

Pin question - onboard I saw several lanyards with pins of many characters inside of a porthole. Each pin was a different character. Can anyone tell me if these were awarded for activities onboard or ?? I really liked them but did not see them for sale anywhere or when I was thinking about trading none of the cast members seemed to have them either. Thanks.

I think you are referring to the secret (might not have the correct word) pin you could purchase for $2 for every $30 of purchases. There were 6 different pins and you picked them out of a box, they were in black bags so you weren't suppose to tell what you were getting. At the beginning of the cruise the crew would let you take rubbings of the pins so you could tell which one was which, but then they were told not to allow that.

I bought a few of the mystery pins but did not get any round ones. I got 2 red uniform jackets with mickey heads on it and an orange triangle WDW flag pin and something else. The shape was similar to the pins we got for champagne tasting so I was thinking they were some special thing?

Oh and can I just say a HUGE Thank you to you Val and Bob for coordinating all you did and adding so much to our cruise. We had a fabulous time.

The pins you got were the $1. mystery pins. You should have had a choice of the $1 or $2 ones. All the $2 ones were the porthole pins. There were 6 in the set. I traded around to get a full set and was trying to get my grand-daughter a set. We got all of them for her except Pluto. I ended up with a couple extra stitches and a goofy is anyone needs them to complete their set.

They had two surprise pin options - one was $1 and the round ones were $2.
Glad you had a good time on the events - we did too.
Thanks to all who helped, Kay and Shirley for their help with the Champagne Girls - Shirley brought the great magnets and Kay brought many of the give aways and Sassy Bubbles. DCL Becky, Carlos and Bruno were wonderful. I let Mike, their boss know, in a letter of thanks. Of course having Daisy Duck join us was a special treat. I wish Shutters could have been there but I couldn't see paying $75 an hour plus the cost of pictures.
Angus and Craig did a good job with the mixology. I understand some of you were disappointed that it wasn't as hands-on as you had hoped but I thought they did their best and let Nick, their boss know we appreciated them.
Also want to mention all of those who opened their cabins for our room tour - great fun and interesting. While the 3 suites were very special it was very interesting for me to visit all the cabins.
Many seemed to enjoy the book exchange. The last day I had about 30 books left, which I gave to guest services. I was told the crew appreciated getting them.
There were a few tense moments with the mixups with the cost of the tickets and schedules of the events but Jerome and Brent were both absolutely wonderful and hopefully all incorrect charges were corrected on your room charges. Notes of thanks were sent to them.

We escaped the sickness, but other in our group did get it.

We plan to make several trips to San Pedro to see the Wonder off on Sundays... maybe be can set up a Dis Meet for one of them. :thumbsup2

I miss our cabin steward....

I have thought about going to see the wonder on Sundays but I would get to depressed I was not on board.

It's not too bad. :3dglasses
The volume for the deck party is loud enough that you can stand on the platform across from the berth and hear it almost perfectly.

Well I am not a sailaway fan, but staring at Deck 4 with those all to comfy chairs will depress me.
