Hey Everyone! What an exhausting week it has been getting back to reality. I was so happy to finally be able to catch up on sleeping in today- I love sleeping in on weekends, but for the entire 3 week trip, I think we averaged rising at 8:00 AM, sometimes much earlier, and maybe once 9:00 AM, so it was lonnnnggg overdue for me to sleep in til noon today ; )
Mike and I had a great time. I still cant believe that we had amazing sunny, warm weather every day for 21 days, unbelievable. We LOVED our dinner table, sat with Corinna and Graham, and two other non-DIS couples- we were all so different but talked and laughed hysterically every night, and loved our server, Daniel- I agree with Corinna, he was by far the best we've ever had on our 4 cruises. Asst server you could tell was very new, and a bit slow in having my soda refilled especially for the first week, but he did get a little better and I'm sure with time will get the hang of it. The head server was also good, she came over almost every night to ask how things were going, if anything could be improved, etc, I liked how she really made her presence- on past cruises I havent even known who the HS was, so I really appreciated this and thought she earned her tip.
The pin thing was absolutely ridiculous, I dont need to reiterate everything that was already said other than that I will be writing a lengthy letter to DCL essentially summarzing that it was absurd that we had to waste hours of vacation time camping in lines on several days to get a pin after spending thousands of dollars on this trip. Each cabin should have been guaranteed at least one set, and then they could have let the obsessed people scramble for seconds if they wanted to. I am in what I would think is the majority of people who just wanted one for his/her own personal collection to look back on where we went, not for hoarding them to later sell, trade, or gasp, worry about them being 'devalued' if they actually made enough for everyone to be guaranteed one.
By far our best excursion was the Outdoor Adventure in PV, what an amazing experience. I never thought I would do anything like that, especially the rappelling down waterfalls! The guides were terrific, loved how it was a small group of 15 of us, loved that they took tons of pics, everything. It was a real winner. Worst excursion was Manzanillo's all inclusive Las Hadas resort- the resort was really nice, and we enjoyed it- but the absurd hour and a half drive that was supposed to be 30 mins nearly ruined the day. The worst part was that we were the 3rd of 3 buses, and we actually arrived by 1:30, but they refused to let us off the bus and walk the mere 50 yards to the lobby of the resort from the driveway. We had to wait on the bus for 45 mins while the 1st two buses unloaded and backed out in the tight driveway. Then, there was a total lack of communication between the tour guide in the hotel, as they had no idea we had to be back at the ship by 6:00, and yet we were supposed to have 4 hours there. Even the Port Adventures CM on our bus was confused. We ended up having a nice day but very short, we got back to the ship around 6:30, so we only had 3 hours there. Luckily, Anthony the manager at Port Adventures was very receptive to our feedback that we filled out on our form and spoke to him personally about, and we got a 50% refund which I was more than satisfied with. Hopefully they get more organized about that excursion because the resort was really great, just a shame it was so disorganized with the travel and arrival parts.
What did everyone think of the night in Aruba? Did anyone do anything really fun or just lay low?
