The cruise stateroom map is updated. Couple of new pictures today as well. I'm also sure as soon as someone figures out what's different on the map there will be a busy thread ;) But I'm not telling.

The site is once again current with everything that I have. 2 more lifeboats converted as well.

 Must admit - that made me :snooty:(Nosy but the closest I can get to it) so I went and looked. Nice job by the way.

All this calls for:

so when i got on my computer, which is actually a netbook, i clicked view first unread. on the netbook (dont know about other computers) you can not see how many posts there are. Someone said "Quiet thread today"!!! NOT!! but fun.

Corinna, congrats!! not something i would want to do but you sound so excited, i'm very very happy for you!

Did a bit of shopping yesterday. Got Jack some more "cold" weather clothes, not knowing what we'll have come January. I did get him some dress clothes, I'll get him a tux at some point.
I did get myself an amazing cocktail dress yesterday on the 70% off rack at Macy's. I love the dress (and the fact that I can wear it). It's also very packable, unlike some of the other dresses I've gotten lately.
Did the online check in, have to finish it up, but one less thing to do. The basket of cruise stuff is starting to overflow. I think I may need to move onto a suitcase.
Once this semester is over, I'll have less than a month to get everything done. Oh yeah, throw Christmas and my birthday in for good measure. And getting a whole new wardrobe. 45 pounds down and NOTHING fits. Still losing though, so I can't buy anything just yet....

Well done on the weight loss Jen. It feels good doesn't it?

As granmaz said WELLDONE!! i'm trying and i know how hard that is. What a great problem to have - all your clothes are too big!! :-):cheer2:

Ooh, you are right, it is great Chili (or some other soup) weather. I may have to make Chicken and Dumplings! I'll be hitting the store sometime this week too. I don't even want to get near a grocery store next week!

One thing I forgot to mention above, still need to get DD her formal dresses. She is 11 and almost 5'3" and doesn't fit in "kid" dresses. I've looked at junior dresses and found a cute one for semi-formal but not finding much for formal. So many are too revealing. I really hate to spend the money for custom dresses that she will wear one time. Any suggestions???

I had a somewhat similar problem though not as tall. try Penny's on line. my DDs are 26 and 29 so things may have changed though!

Thanks Jen!!!! You're right, it'll be a month away the day after we get home from WDW. Too much to do...
wow, wdw and cruise! I don t see a jealous smiley or i'd put it here!

Since I have today off of work - I finally made our final reservation. We are staying at the Residence Inn, Cape Canaveral on the 4th & 5th and have also reserved our car too. So now that I've finally taken care of that, if there are any get togethers near the port we would love to join in.

Joyce:hippie:

We're thinking about there too. what's there to do during the day?

Hi all. I saw someone post about a 10:30 A.M. flight. If this is the day we get in, sorry to sound harsh but you will miss your flight. As mentioned in posts on this and other threads, customs here in L.A. is a whole different beast. Let try to shed a little light on customs here. You will get off on deck 4. You will then be directed to either the non citizen line or citizen line depending on if you live in the U.S. Then you wait to get your passport scanned by a customs agent and that takes about a min and a half or so. Then you go fund your luggage, if customs is ready to let you collect it. Then you hand I'm your form and hope they don't search you. Takes about a hour here once off the ship.

actually with this many on board, i can't complain about an hour!! we're staying overnight so its not a concern for us thoughl

All this talk about new cameras has given me Camera Envy. Don't know why, cuz I love my Sony Cybershots. Yes, that's. I usually have at least 2 cameras in my purse and even use them simultaniously. (Today I was taking pics with one camera while the other was in video mode for DD's ballet presentation to parents. It was so cute watching the 3-4 year olds and now I have it forever, and can share it with the parents that couldn't make it.)

Anyway, I digress. So I just mentioned in passing to DH about all the camera talk, and now he's on the hunt for a new/better camera for me. It sounds like he's leaning toward the Sony Nex-5 over a DSLR. :confused3 But it looks like I'll be sporting a new camera by Hanukkah, just in time for the cruise.

DH is giving me a new camera too, i forget which one. pocket sized yeah!! I was hoping to have it by hanukah but since i will have one kid home for 2 of the days, i'll just light candles and we'll only do gifts for xmas. yes, we are a mixed group. though DD is doing the hanukah "show" (reading a story animatedly i think) for the cruises that are over the holiday.
DD missed Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur and will miss t-giving and hanukah and christmas with family. i am sad for her, though her best friend and her mother, my best friend, will be with their spouses (and sons, 1 each) on the cruise over thanksgiving so she'll sorta have family.

but i digress. welcome new folks!

and 3mmm, if you aren't on the tour, we all know your room nnumber, you may find us knocking for a tour!!LoL!!:rotfl:

My friend just bought a Tamron 70-300 2.8 and posted pictures. I have the 70-300 3.5 but I've got lens envy and am trying to finagle the new one. I shoot a lot of sports for my daughter's school so I really need a second 2.8. Maybe Santa will be nice to me. A gal can hope. If he is, I will be sporting that lens for the PC cruise.

Now this is funny!

As for a camera. For those that love the ability to manipulate but the convenience of a point and shoot.....may I suggest you look into the Canon G11? Its some of the best of both worlds. Small and convenient but flexibility of a DSLR. I an ABD to Peru and took my DSLR and my G10. 1/2 way into the trip, I ended up using the G10 and absolutely :love::love: it. Its my staple when I am not shooting sports or portraits. Small enough to fit into a purse or small bag. My G10 is 2 1/2 by 4 with a width of 1 1/2 inches. But you can play with buttons and do video too. Calumet recommended it to me and showed me some awesome shots they took with it and for the weight, well worth it. Just my two cents. All cameras are good but if you like to play with T, AV, or M mode, well worth the $$$

Like all of you I can't believe how close we are. Unfortunately there is just too much holiday planning between now and then. Combine that with preparing for a three week vacation and I don't know how it's all going to come together.

On an exciting note, my wife won tickets to a screening of Tangled this Saturday. Sure do hope it's good.

We are doing DCL transfers to GCH. When we cruised out od LA 3 years ago it was a mess. We used Prime Time Shuttle what a nightmare. They were a hour late picking us up then returning to DL was even worse the guy had no idea how to get to DL even with a GPS!

Thank you for posting this! I had Prime Time Shuttle private van booked for both legs -- cruise terminal to DL and DL to LGB. After reading your post, I found a few review sites, and Prime Time Shuttle had a very low rating. I got their name from the LGB web site, and I figured such a small airport would only list the better vendors.

They charged me $8 to cancel ($4 per leg)...but better safe than sorry.

One of the review web sites was Yelp.com, and their #1 reviewed LA Limo is Crown Limousine. But I went on their web site, and they had a cheesy video. Anyone have experience with them, or can anyone recommend another company from personal experience?

TIA!

I'm looking forward to meeting Des and Suzan on Wed evening. :goodvibes[/QUOTE]

I so love going to Disneyland during the work week!!!!! And everything will be decorated for Christmas,:santa:
I LOVE this time of the year!!!!!

Hey fellow cruisers! What do you ladies do to make your nails look pretty for vacation? I am experiementing with the press on ones but not sure about them. What are some good products others have used or tips? I would like to maybe try gel nails but never have had them so not sure how they stand up either especially for the price. Thanks for any advice!

I know you've already received some replies, but I wanted to add my two cents for the Shellac manicure. I'm a nurse and I've actually been able to wear it for a full two weeks before it starts to chip away. I'm getting mine done the morning before the cruise. Fuschia here I come!

Stephanie

Afternoon all :) A big welcome to Stephanie (that's my eldest's name, too :woohoo: )

Hi emum,

Thanks for the welcome! I can't help with the LA questions as I've never been there. Good luck with your planning. I guess I won't complain about MY travel times to get to/from the cruise!:lmao:

Still in a lifeboat too! I hope each day as I click on my ressie that a cabin will show up! :rotfl2: Then I hope it's a cabin I actually want :lmao:

Spent yesterday trying to clean out my DD closet! Did find a tiare but I thought she had a boa...but she didn't...

Off to finish up in her room ... we are trying to clean out everything she doesn't need or use anymore...but everytime I find something, she says.. but I LOVE it!

Have a great day!

Ha Ha, my 7 yr old DD is the same way. That's why my guest room is a mess of toys that are too young for her. I promised her a cut of the profits if we sell it all at a garage sale in the spring!

I paid just short of $50 and that included a tiara, the make up pallet, a Mickey hair clip and a sash.

Welcome on board. Your parents are not Marie and John by any chance?

Corinna

No, they are Marie and William (Bill) Taylor. It will be interesting to see if my mom recognizes anyone from the TA cruise.

Stephanie

Ok, I'm gonna get these next two posts done so I have more privileges on this board!

SOooo, hmmm, let's see. I'm a critical care nurse and love it, but I REALLY am looking forward to this long break. My mom is an RN also, although she's retired.

My husband Steve and I have a 7 year old daughter, Emily, who is quite indignant that I would dare go cruising without her! We all went on a 7 day Eastern Caribbean cruise on the Magic last May. She made me promise not to do any Dolphin Swim excursions without her! I'm going to miss her like crazy, but I couldn't pass up this opportunity.

I'm having fun learning about FE's, door decorations and other DIS traditions.

Anyone booked on the Magic for the 8 night Eastern Caribbean trip departing 12/30/11?

Stephanie

Gee, you lot have made up for a slow couple of days in the last 24 hours !

A huge congrats to the 3mmm crew on the Roy O. Suite ! That's superb !

Jen - a huge congrats to you on the weight loss, too - it is quite the achievement !

Melissa - thanks SO much for offering your help (again !). Yes, we are in LA for four nights prior to flying down to FL, but we'd like to totally immerse ourselves in Disney for that portion of the trip (a big part of why we're staying at the GCH).

So, all extras will have to be done on the day we arrive in Port on the 21st. I guess if we rent a large enough van, we can keep the luggage in the boot for the day. I just worry about it being in view wherever we park, and the risk of it being stolen :( Our flight is not until 10.25pm, so I'm still considering the hotel - if for no other reason than for an afternoon nap, and shower to freshen up. It's a long "red-eye" flight back home to Australia. It will also be our only opportunity to go clothes shopping on our trip. So if we hire the car, head up to the Grove, then straight to the hotel, I figure that should do us. TBH, we'll probably be back in the US in 2012 anyway (that's the plan at this stage), so we can do more shopping and sightseeing then (hoping to make it to NY and Chicago for that trip, along with a stop-over in HI). The 2012 trip would only involve a couple of days at Disney rather than a whole month of Disney :scared1: (perish the thought !).

Sounds like we're all getting to the nitty-gritty part of getting prepared for the trip ! Glad I'm not alone in wondering if everything will come together in time :cool2:

I had a "yuck" moment at work today - had a customer completely fly off the handle this morning about something really silly, which made me feel like crap for the rest of the day :( I was soooo tempted to tell her to get a grip and worry about the bigger things in life. Oh well - onwards and upwards.

Gee, that reminds me - I forgot to send well-wishes for the biopsy that was happening (and now I forget whose daughter it was - sorry :( ). Anyway, I hope all went well :flower3:

Well, it's nearly 5pm, and I need to get dinner and baths sorted.

Cheers,
Sally :)

Ooooh - just remembered something good about work LOL - found a pirate dress-up kit we had in the store for less than $5 ! So I bought 6 of them ! Egads !

That stinks! It's hard to remember when people are mean that it is THEIR problem, not yours. I struggle with that every day. Hope you have a good evening!

Stephanie

Sally, although very tempting NEVER worth the hassle, try not to mind:goodvibes

Good morning, 7 weeks today I will be flying.
