I would allow 2.5 hours or more. I flew out of LAX last month, arrived at 5:40 AM for a 7:30 AM flight (US Airways) and the lines were INSANE. I havent flown out of LAX for 8 years, so this is my only recent experience, but let me say that I felt that I would possibly have missed my flight or at the very least have been very stressed & rushed if I handt been able to get in the shorter priority checkin lane for preferred USAirways members. So if I ever fly another airline where I'm not preferred, I will go more than 2 hours early. I'd rather be early and have time to relax, grab something to eat, etc than feel frenzied- I saw employees yelling out to people in the long line asking what time their flights were and moving those with close call flights up to closer to the front of the line- well guess what, I was one of those people last year in San Diego who was allowed to move up to the front by an employee doing the same thing- and me along with 10 other people still missed our flight, door shut right in front of us. So I take no chances now after than nightmare.

We have a 2:00PM flight out of LAX after the cruise, I certainly hope that we don't have any problems and that I have allowed enough time. Not the way I want to end my vacation.

Thanks.

HOU-SFO 9/30 flights 604/30 with 6:50 arrival time
SFO-HOU 10/6 flights 2197/326 with 8:35 arrival time

Could have flown into Oakland non-stop but didn't realize that it was just 3 miles further from our hotel than SFO until after we booked. Changing mine wouldn't have been a problem but DH's was booked through his work TA, which charges fees for changes. But next time we'll know.

I wanted to see if you were coming thru LAX. You are not. Oh well, I could have said hi. I would have gone to Oakland. To many Delays into SFO.

Thanks! We're actually staying in SF so we won't have to worry about it. I was just surprised when I checked the hotel website to find that it is 15 miles from SFO and 18 from Oakland. Since it's not a good drive, glad I didn't know ahead of of time that Oakland offers nonstop while SFO doesn't :goodvibes

Anyway, it's business/pleasure for DH but strictly pleasure for me. The first 2 1/2 days, he has a conference to attend at the Moscone Center then the next 2 1/2 days he's free. For me, it's strictly pleasure. I just plan to get out and explore the area around me while he's gone.

Three words for you - Fog City Diner - if it's still there it was a wonderful dining experience.. if you love to watch a good kitchen at work, ask to sit at the counter. This is NOT your typical diner menu.

I also loved the Japanese garden at Golden gate park and the museum of Modern Art.

Haven't posted in a while. But getting ready to book on 23rd. Anyone know brunch days and formal nights, etc. Thanks.

Jeff got the t-shirt in today from Zazzle. Looks pretty good.

He did it on a black shirt, which makes the image look a bit weird. I think on a white or lighter background, it would be better

Here's a link to the shirt on Zazzle

Enjoy!
Jen- thanks for sharing the photo of the shirt, it looks really great! Thats really cool that we can pick different styles of shirts and colors too. I'm just a little confused about the front of the shirt though--when I went to the site, there were 2 products, both have the big logo on the back. the first product looks like it says www.disboards.com on the front chest logo area, and the other product is blank on the front- is this still to be decided what goes on the front, or are we leaving it blank, or is it something we are supposed to customize individually? I guess I was thinking the front would have some kind of small logo and wording about the cruise too?

Tami, I love the cake story! Sounds like my sister's wedding cake that was put too close to a lamp and in front of a window with the afternoon sun and it melted.

My sister called this morning saying she thought she saw Tink near the area where Gus was found, but by the time I got there she was gone. She wasn't positive it was her since she ran off when she called her.

Here's a pic of Tink after her summer foxtail cut, normally she has hair like a brittany.

I went to the site and you can see the different shirt styles and colors. I thought the design looked nice on the forest green shirt.

I would say at LAX 2 hours, Burbank 1.15 to 1.5 hours. What tine do you get to SFO? What is the flight number if you do not mind?

I'd still pick LAX over Burbank - getting to Burbank means a long drive right through the center of L.A. - somewhat unpredictable.

We have a 2:30pm and aren't worried at all. LAX is bad, but it's not so bad that we won't probably have a nice long wait at the airport for our flight.

Carmie - have fun exploring!!

Angela - I sent an extra prayer up for Tink tonight!

Pixie Dust II - love that Pirate Mickey has his own scrapbook!

You can ask Jeff to add something to the front. Traditionally he's only ever put the DIS logo on the front of the shirt.

You can edit the shirt. Choose customize and play around with all the options. I have long hair so I will be moving the logo to the front of the shirt and putting Disney Wonder above the design and maybe some other wording below the design.

Thanks for the suggestions! Jen, if Jeff wouldnt mind doing something for the front, that would be great, but I understand if he has too much else on his plate since he's been doing so much awesome work for us lately! If he cant, I'll check out the other suggestion of seeing how I can tweak/customize the shirt on my own as suggested.

Hi everyone,

I haven't had a chance to be on this board for a few days... been super busy! But, I am hoping to catch up today on all the posts.

My parents are coming on the cruise with us. They are flying in the day before, staying at the Hyatt at MCO, and then they want to rent a car and drive to the port.

We are going to WDW several days before the cruise, so we'll be coming from WDW to the cruise. My parents want to rent a mini-van that is big enough for all of us (it'd be a total of 6 people, plus all our luggage), so then our family and my parents can all drive together to the port.

I have 4 questions regarding this:

1) we've always done the Disneycruiseline Motorcoach to port, so can someone here tell me which car rental agencies from MCO allow you to 1) do a 1-way car rental, and 2) have a drop-off close to port??

2) How do you drop off? Does the driver drop everyone off at port, and then the driver takes the car to the car rental drop off place, turns the car in, and gets a shuttle to port, or do they have to walk?

3) Also, what generally (ballpark) have you paid for a 1-way minivan rental from MCO to port?

4) Since my family will be staying at WDW, and my parents will be at MCO, do you know if we could take the Magical Express back to MCO from WDW just to get back to MCO so we could meet my parents there? That way, they won't have to find their way to WDW to pick us up, and then drive to port. Or, maybe it's easiest for them to just pick us up at WDW? Any insight from all you more experienced cruisers??

I just want to make this as least complicated as possible... there's a part of me that thinks maybe my family should just take the Disneycruiseline motorcoach, and then just let my parents rent a smaller car and meet them at port.... of course, that'd the the more expensive option for my DH, kids and I.

Thanks!!
Kathy

1) We rented one-way from Budget close to WDW but I know the location at MCO allows it too. There are other companies too that do one way but some of them charge drop off fees - Thirfty I know does.

2) The driver can drop everyone and the luggage off at the port and then return the car and a shuttle will bring the driver back. Most people say this doesn't take long but it was long for us. DH happend to get there right after a family that filled the shuttle as they didn't drop everyone off at the port. He was there for probably an extra 30 45 mins. However, I have read on here that that is NOT the norm.

3) Don't remember the rate but I was checking around for Mini-van rental (decided on a car) but I do remember getting the best rate through Budget using code Y937800. It was suggested on the main cruise forum by someone who had used it numerous times. It is by far the best discount code I have seen. And I've tried a bunch of them :goodvibes

4) Yes, you will be able to take ME back to MCO, jsut as long as you set up it before you go. But ME will drop you off near the check in so you will need to make it down toward car rentals. Where they are in relation to each other I have no idea. :goodvibes

ETA for #4. I know when setting up ME you have to provide airline info. I'd just call them and tell them what you are doing. If you are flying out or getting a rental, I don't know why'd they care. You're staying at one of their resorts the night before you're leaving which is what is required for ME. GOOD LUCK.

Hi everyone,
I haven't posted in a few days because I've been dealing with extreme vertigo. Meds are working now and I don't feel like I'm spinning out of control.

I've gotten everyone's information for bracelets down. Linda can you place something on the front page about an Oct. 22 deadline for ordering, please?

As far as what the bracelets say, I have no opinion. I was just using the thread theme to keep things uniform. I talked with the company this morning and they advised no more than 25 characters on each side. If we want to run a poll that's fine with me. I just need a decision by Oct. 22.

Still praying for Tink to come home!

Carly and I are off to see So You Think You Can Dance tonight!

We we have had an exciting week here. We have had to change a passanger to our cabin. My husband is no longer and my Mom is in his place. My husband is from Croatia and we generally go every other year usually in the spring but last spring my husband got promoted at work so spring and summer are very busy and did not know if he would be able to go to Croatia then. He has not seen family since April of 09. Plus our 10 yr aniversary is next fall. Well to make it short my DH will fly to Europe shorlty after we leave on the cruise and come back before I get back. It was a very hard decesion to make but it is a done deal. My mom is 79 and in very good health but now have to rethink some shore excursions. I think I can still most of them. Had to adjust most of our ADR's and had to change resorts. No since having a 1 bedroom if there are just 2 of us. We are now back home at Kidani Village we do have to move after 1 night into a regular standard view from a Savanah. I have wait listed for both types so we do not have to move. Hope I can stay in the room for all nights instead of moving.
Lexi

I had that type of vertigo hit me 1 1/2 yrs ago. The darker the location the better (hung maroon sheets over bedroom windows), super dark sunglasses, a hat, plenty of rest. Just know there is someone out there who understands everything you are feeling. You're not crazy!

ps...did you book the whale watching in Cabo?
