Hi All,
Wow, I'm not even CLOSE to catching up, but I am at least trying to stay updated...So, I will do my best to check in to the things that pertain to me.
**For the two who wanted the 5th grade lessons, I am in the process of scanning the items I only have in hard copy and then I will start to send them. If you can PM me, I will send it directly to your email address.
**I would love join you all for the welcome party and since our crew comes from Napa, I think we can find a bottle (or two) of wine--Anyone have a favorite?? I do agree though that I would prefer to not pay the exorbitant corkage fee.
**Jen, I am not always good with checking in on the site, but please let me know if you need any help. I cannot check anything from work as I work for a school district, so most sites are blocked, but I CAN work on projects if I know what they are ahead of time:thumbsup2
On that line of thinking, has anyone volunteered to create the "program" for the group? I think I remember reading that someone usually takes all of the activities and puts them together into a program that each person can download and print as needed. I would be happy to create that if you would like...

I think that is it for now...I hope everyone is doing well!! I look forward to reading all of the updates in the next few days:goodvibes

Have a great day!!
~Melissa
Melissa,

No one has volunteered to make a program. In '05 Seaulater made ours, brought a printer on board to print it out changes and what not. We're going to see this time around if concierge can print them out for us.

Jen

I'm not into snorkeling myself, but if you're going to do it at any of the ports, I'd think Aruba would be the place. Should have the warmest water. And definitely has perfect beaches. :rolleyes1

Has anyone done the Discover Scuba excursions before? I would like to take myself and my DD so that we can start the certification process, but I wonder if it is worth it??

~Melissa

Well the good news it was something to do with the vapor system and under 200 to fix. I am having another problem fixed and that is 700. DW says it will be fine so that's good. Now I need some advice from you all. I am in possession of some info that you all want to know. Not only do I know the theme nights but I know how each rotation is going to go. The problem is my friend at DCL said it is for my eyes only right now. I really want to share it with you. So if anyone has an idea on how I can say but not be dishonest to my friend please let me know.

I'm glad to hear about your car! That is the most frustrating thing, especially when you have "plans" for the money :goodvibes

How about a fun little game of 20 questions...That way all you have to do is say "Yes" or "No"
I'll start...
1. Will there be a pirate night?
2. If so, will it be BEFORE the Panama Crossing?
3. Will we have that Panama night you all were talking about earlier? East meets West or something like that...
Okay that's three...17 to go...

~Melissa

Hi everyone:) I wish I had more time to play on the boards, but this little thing called work gets in the way. I bought our return airfare from CA yesterday. My mom and her husband have finally been convinced to join us on the cruise. I am going to book theirs while we are on the WBTA next month.

First question. Unfortunatly yes. Second question no. Third question yes.

Okay, I'll be happy to take on that task as I can work on it at my own pace. If people can PM their ideas of things they "want" to do, I can start working out a general schedule...Also, I remember reading about people volunteering to help tutor kids on different subjects throughout the cruise. If the person who has that info would like to contact me, I could put that in as well--Something like: "Jan. 8 @ 1:00-2:00pm--Math (Algebra and Geometry) with (tutor name here) in Diversions"...I'm sure you get the idea:rolleyes1

Alan, knowning that Disney reads the DISboards, do you really want to risk your friend's job? Speaking from experience with other Cast Members, Disney will fry someone for spilling the beans.
just sayin'

Good point, I figured a yes or no won't hurt much. Well in all fairness I will say things are set in stone. As a matter of fact there is one I hope they change out, and no it is not Pirate night.

If someone sends Jeff the jpgs or gifs of the port maps he will put them on the cruise webpage. He'll pretty much put anything y'all want on it anyways, but thought those maps would be very useful to have in a dedicated space.

Jen, I will PM Jeff the PDF maps from RCL- after I found the PV one, I searched on their site and got Cabo, Puntarenas, and Aruba too. they were very useful with tips on how to get to the main town/shopping areas and two of them specifically pointed out my hard rocks : )

If anyone is headed to the west coast of Florida, we have to most incredible manatee viewing area literally down the street from us in Apollo Beach. The power plant sits in Tampa Bay warming the water. At any given moment in the fall and winter (until April) you will see manatees, sharks, sting rays and other assorted marine life. And it's free to go out on the piers by the power plant to see all of it. It's a great hidden treasure here on the west coast.

Been there, done that Jen! Ws there in a January and it was so cool. and if you didn't look at exactly the power plant, it's a pretty area.

Oh cool! A guessing game! Let's see:

1. Will there be equatorial night where they set the temperature in all the restaurants to 98 degrees so we can experience a true tropical dinner experience?

2. Will there be a politically incorrect character dinner in which we'll be visited by characters from the movie "Song of the South"?

3. Will dinner on Aruba include scattering tons of sand on the restauraut floors so we can simulate dinner at the beach?

4. Will there be a California theme night where they and fire half the serving staff, delay meals by at least 2 hours and add a $20 cover charge?

5. Will there be Mexican theme night, where instead of normal service, when you walk into the restaurant the serving staff will clamer to sell you food - unless you spend $45 for a reserved DCL dining excursion?

Come on... you can tell... you're friend won't mind :rolleyes1

I will say no for the answer to all your questions. Not to say that some stuff you put up won't be happening, some will, just not all, so a fair answer is no.

Wow, you go away for 5 days and you miss a ton of posts! We took an emergency trip to WDW. Stayed at Saratoga Springs. Liked it better this time than previous times. Really went to celebrate our anniversary, to get me away from the stress, and most important, to see DD off before she became a cruise CM. I’m so excited for her!
Alan, glad ur car expense turned out to be cheap. Not a usual thing for us!
Did I tell you all about my month from hell? I think I told you all my lovely and loving Dad passed away. I hurt so much in missing him so much. He was a fine gentleman. And the day after, my car died. And it really was not fixable. I mean I could have spent almost $4,000 fixing it but it was worth $1,000 and there were no guarantees. So my car “repair” bill is in the twenty thousands. Sigh. Then our air conditioning broke the week of record heat here in Maryland. Luckily we have a 10 year warranty so it was a free fix on a Sunday no less. But in walking with the guy to show him the outside unit, I apparently touched something I was allergic, and got a poison ivy type reaction all over my face, including eye lids and neck, and inside elbows and calves. And when almost over that, I had a reaction to my reaction! And then…well that’s enough. The long weekend at Disney, even though we barely did the parks was wonderful. It rained and rained and rained some more. Not the usual Florida stuff! Reading about the cruise, though it’s taken forever to catch up, just helps!
Not sure what we’re doing for excursions. Haven’t been able to think or give DH time to think. It’ll get better, right? He’s big on Disney sponsored as he’s nervous about the boat leaving without us. But I have to be stupid and ask – what the heck is Cabo Wabo???
I’m interested in the wine / food meet, let me ask DH tomorrow and we’ll let you know.
Enjoy the rest of the week all!

Well here's looking to a brighter future! :beach: Cabo Wabo is Sammy Hagar's bar.

Disney always has some themed nights. Here is a sample from the PC 2008 eastern cruise to get an idea.

Mexicali....Semi Formal (Prince & Princess)....Formal....West meets East....Tropical (2 nights)....Pirate

I've been trying to stay caught up with this thread, but y'all don't make it easy.

Jen - Count me in for the wine party. I'll bring a bottle of something from RI. Heck, I'll also bring a bottle of coffee syrup. And maybe some Del's mix. Hmmmmmm... Anyone bringing a blender? :)

Is anyone interested in an informal improv comedy workshop for the adults? I'll be happy to host one during a sea day if we have some willing vict..er.. volunteers.

I did add the SM reveal and the PJ breakfast to the calender. Jeff already put it in. I will look at the dates I gave him and PM you the details. Thanks for doing this!

Although I am not tutoring, I am putting together a "journal/fun book" of sorts. I will have the links posted and everyone can print them out if they choose.

Glad your car didn't cost to much. As far as sharing the info - I think it best that you keep it a secret at the moment. It's not worth your friend getting in trouble.

No matter how you say it - it is still sharing info they asked you not to share.
There is some info that CM become aware of early and although they may share it with individuals..it isn't worth thier jobs.

Just my thoughts...

It may just be your catalytic converter needs service. My fingers are crossed for a low bill!

Something I learned the hard way - after having a panic attack and seeing mega-dollar signs when the check engine light came on. Before going to the dealer, check to be sure your gas cap is on correctly. Duh! That was the problem I faced - thank goodness.

Glad your car's problem was easily diagnosed and that you aren't going to go broke fixing it. DH's "car" is a city bus - we only owned two cars for the two years the kidlet was driving to high school. He left for college and we sold the second car.
