From WDW to DL With Love - January 06, 2011 part 2

Today I began booking ADR's for the trip. We have the Beirtgarten for Sunday Jan 2. West Point. My Dad was a West Point Grad. I have never been but I hope to get to go one day. Actually I have on a West Point watch right now. Another not so sunny day in Florida.

Lucky you! Even though I'll be a Disney resort guest, we still havent booked our room yet, waiting for the rates to be released in August to book, so we cant do the 180+ days yet. I'll be able to book all 3 nights of my trip though on Friday this week, cant wait!

I hear ya Lexi, I would love to see the sun again here in the "sunshine state".
We're planning a big dinner at Napa Rose the Friday we get to DL. I have family we rarely see in Anaheim. They are going to meet us at the GC for dinner. Other than that, who knows!

I LOVE Napa Rose. We'll definitely be eating there for dinner either Fri or Sat when we get to DL. Our second favorite is Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen in DTD. We are still on the fence about a 3rd night in DLR--does anyone have a third night dinner recommendation after Napa Rose and Jazz Kitchen?

It will be me (Emily), my DH Jason, my dad Steve and my mom Brenda. I don't have our stateroom #'s yet, still waiting for my TA to get back in touch with me about all of that.

If anyone has any advice they can offer about a post DL stay I'd appreicate it. We're contemplating our first trip to DL and hopefully a stay at VGC.

Saw Toy Story 3 with DH and DGS yesterday. Brought my tissues. And like Goldilocks it was neither too loud or too soft, it was just right! I didnt want it to be over either.

LindaBabe hope hubby is feeling better soon. Cant believe he will drive to buy tickets with cracked ribs but wont go on the cruise!!

Did you use the tissues that is my question? As far as excisions go I would figure they would be out a week or two before concierge and platinum can book them and that is 120 days out.

Yes, it was at your suggestion that I brought them. There was one point where I thought it might have been the point to use them, but found out I needed them near the end....And I also agree with you, this is not just a good kids movie, it is a great movie for everyone

Tami - I think that Alan is correct in the fact that they will be released a week or so before Platinum and Concierge can book. That is Sept 8th - I already have it on my calendar - love being Platinum. And, since you said you thought sometime in August - I bet you are also correct. Here is to hoping it is more toward the middle of August as opposed to the end of August.

I would guess excursions would be released between the PIF date for the suites and the booking of excursions for them, so between Aug 9th and Sept 8th.

Welcome Emily and Family! I can't offer any comments on DL as I have never been. Had they announced the 2 day cruise before I booked my airfare, I would have done that but I think I will have to return in the future for a MR and spend several days doing DL properly. And, when I can use another year's vacation allotment.

And, as much as I'd love to go thru the Panama Canal I wanted to be on the new ship when it came out so Steve and I will be doing the inaugural cruise.

To the new joinees: This is a great group, you're going to have a fun time!

Well, I promised myself I wouldn't worry about excursions until at least 6 months out. And...since it's 6 months, I couldn't wait any longer. My CCPD is taking over. I e-mailed Los Veranos Canopy Tours (zip line) in Puerta Vallarta http://www.canopytours-vallarta.com/ for information on group tours.

Jen, I think this is the one you were talking about. It has a little zoo, water area and restaurant for those who don't want to zip line or to enjoy after the zip line.

If we get a group of at least 25, they will gives us a 25% discount and a private bus. They can take up to 70 people on one tour. The zip line tour is $79 for adults (13 and over) and $58 for children 6-12. Shuttle only is $20 for ages over 6 to adult and free for kids under 6. The shuttle only gives you access to the zoo, water area and restaurant. These prices are without the 25% discount.

If you would be interested, please PM me with number of people. No commitment yet, I would just like to see how people are really interested. The excursion company told me if I can guarantee that there will be at least 25 people, they can block a time for us when we are ready and we can each call them directly with payment. Oh, and they offer a full refund if the ship can not dock for any reason.

It's been ages since I have been on the boards. Went on TA/Med, got really bad cough that lasted x2 months. Now I'm into summer, unemployment and catching up with all the news. Yeah, six months. Somehow that does not seem too far off, especially with a trip to WDW planned for September (anniversary and DH bday).

We are traveling with good friends (chippermerlin) and some other friends who have never cruised before. Looking forward to meeting you all.

I'm thinking that it is NOT the brightest thing to be doing - I will have to do all the driving, I woke up at 3 am this morning, I have something every single night this week, a poster to finish for Saturday's 80th BD party, it's supposed to be 95 today, to say nothing of the fact that he's in pain. MEN!!!! I SO do not understand the urgency.

WEll, DH must have read my mind because when he got up he had decided maybe we shouldn't go on a road trip today. Well, no kidding.

Linda, I feel for you. My DH was off work last Fall with broken ribs and it was no fun keeping him resting for over 3 weeks.

Welcome Emily and family! This will be our first Panama Canal cruise too.

I would suggest making your reservations ASAP if you're planning on staying at the VGC as some have mentioned they've been put on the waitlist already. My second choice would be the Disneyland Hotel, some of the newly refurbished rooms look really cool. Happy Planning!

Linda - glad DH came to his senses about driving ! Maybe there'll be a plethora of cabins open up once we get closer to the PIF date, maybe ? My only other suggestion is to keep trying the booking site - I've had a great deal of luck going from GTY to then getting cabin numbers of choice, simply by checking the site regularly.

Gail - woohoo to the 6 month point !

JenKatt or Nicole - speaking of Napa Rose - would either of you know if the restaurants in DL are open for anything special on Christmas Day / evening ?

Tami - no idea on excursions, but I will wiat with baited breath for when they do get released !

Emily - welcome to the board - we're staying at the DLH pre-trip, with fond memories of the hotel from our 2008 trip. I've been tempted to try the GC, but I'm a sentamentalist at heart

Hi Emily and welcome. I think I know you from another cruise thread. Were you on the first Baltic? We cancelled that cruise for the TA in September.
We are waitlisted for a studio at the VGC and not expecting it to come through as I don't think it is very big. Perhaps you will be more lucky with a bigger villa though.
